I look at these reviews and notice that everyone looks like they know what they're talking about. Then I look at what they shoot and notice that most these people are no better, if not worse than me. I golf in the 82-88 range and decided to splurge on a name brand wedge. The TM lob wedge looked real nice so I decided to buy it. No real reason why. I didn't compare it to anything. Just bought it because it was asthetically pleasing. I took it out on the course, where I used it 7 times and noticed it worked just about as good as my no name Walmart sand wedge. And wouldn't ya know, I golfed an 87. It looks real nice, it feels real nice, but in the end, it's painfully obvious that it's not the club that makes the golfer.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made RAC wedge 50/06

Having recently traded my Mizuno T3 Ti-insert set against a NOS set of Ben Hogan Apex Plus (3-E) I needed a new gap-wedge, for the original Apex Plus 50 deg. wasn't available anymore. Already owning a TM RAC 60/07 lob wedge for lob shots & sand play (still very pleased with), I thought it was a good idea to get the Taylor Made 50/06. (Hogan suggested a 50 deg. wedge for the Apex Plus line). First thing I noticed is the narrow sole - it is just slightly broader than the Apex Plus Equilizer. The shaft is again a True Temper Dynamic Gold wedge flex, so nothing new here. After having spent several hours on the range and the course I got to say that the 50/06 is a great wedge. It cuts nicely through the grass and the nicely rounded front edge prevents it from going too deep. The feel is smooth and for a tour style wedge it is quite forgiving. Of course, you get the best results if you hit it correctly ;-) Again the concentric microgrooves add an extra bit of spin and control. I still have some trouble to get the correct distances, but this is just a lack of practice but not the wedges' fault. I like to fool around with this one. It's just fun to play (and it looks great).

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made RAC wedge 64/10

Have been having a problem in the 90-115 yards range. So, I've been looking for a gap wedge. Looked at the Cleveland, Mizuno, Titleist and settled on the TM RAC 54/10. Bought it on Friday and went out on Saturday to try it. I had only 3 shots in the 100 yd range, and with all 3 shots, I nailed it within 10 feet of the pin. The feel is great, and it launches the ball high into the air and stops quickly. The look of the club is good, and I don't have any regrets picking up this club.

Hope I'll not need it.

I was looking for a wedge that would allow me controlled shots from everywhere around the green. The sandwedge (Mizuno T-3 titanium insert) I used before performed o.k., but due to the big bounce of the sole it was nearly unplayable on hard and dry ground. Also its graphite shaft (Accel Arc reg. flex) felt some kind of "loose" to me, so I decided to have a look on 60 degree lob wedges. I took out serveral 60 degree steel shaft wedges for testing (Cleveland gun metal, Ben Hogan, the TM RAC, Mizuno Tour Style Black Ox). The three forged models (Cleveland, Hogan, Mizuno) were great, but somehow the non-forged TM RAC felt best. It has two small cavities on its backside which let me know when I hit the ball correct or not. The wedges face is also interesting: it has additional concentrical micro grooves on it which really "bite" into the ball, producing a lot of backspin. The Dynamic Gold wedge flex shaft allows precise power control. The lower edge of the head is not als sharp as the Hogans, but it performed well on very hard ground. The sole is so nicely rounded, it gets even better through sand than my Mizuno SW. So my SW is out of the bag now. Bottom line: I love this wedge. I use it for anything up to 70 yards around the green, except for the "chip and run" stuff. If the new RAC irons will be somewhere close to this wedge, they'll definitely be my next buy. Nice job, Taylor Made!

Best wedge I have ever owned, period! The feel and distance control are amazing. For once the advertising claims and engineering claims seem to be dead on, just like these wedges. To provide some detail on these clubs, let me explain that ever since my clubs were stolen about 5 years ago I have been searching for the right fit in all aspects of my game. The wedges were the last piece of the puzzle and frankly the most difficult for me to find. During this search I have tried just about every wedge out there. I purchased and played Cleveland, Titleist, Mizuno, Hogan, and the Tour Perfomance TaylorMade. Each of those wedges seemed right at the time I bought them. Frankly all of them had good feel, and few minuses. The one common minus was distance control, I would hit a shot and swear it was dead on only to end up long or short. The next time I was faced with a similar distance I would attempt to adjust to the last shot and sure enough I was off yet again. The Cleveland wedges did not work for me as I had major gaps in yardage. The Titleist Vokey was an excellent wedge yet I was easily 10 yards shorter with them, and the sweet spot was just not in my wheel house so to speak. I could go on about the othes, bottom line was I had to really have a feel for my swing on a given day to know what wedges to put in the bag. In mid August after hearing about the wedges from a local PGA member I know, I decided to take a chance and purchased the 56 degree with 14 degrees of bounce. I went straight to the practice area at the course I marshall at and was immediately impressed with the feel and the consistency. As with any new club initially my distances were off, but with similar swings the results were the same. The next day I was playing a practice round and noticed how soft my sand wedge shots were landing. I soon realized that I needed to shoot closer to the pin, because this wedge was allowing me to check the ball quickly and occaisionally back it up. After the round I knew I had found a wedge that I really liked, so I decided to take a gamble and purchase the 52/8 and the 60/12 wedges. I played a round the next day with the new wedges and was amazed at how great they felt. It took me awhile to get the distances right, but the feel, trajectory, and accuracy were amazing. If you need a wedge, try them!

Wanted to buy a set of TM wedges to match my TM 300 forged irons , but TM's wedges apparently were more suited to match either the 320 or 360 irons. Then someone suggested the new RAC wedges are nmore 'forged-like' ... they were right. Nice weight , great eye-appeal , good quality , etc. I did need a few weeks to get accustomed to the difference in feel from my Vokey's but there is no comparison now. With the weighting , I am hitting my 54* up to 120 yds. if needed. The 60* will get me to 105 yds. or so , if needed. I would recommed these wedges to anyone , especailly a lower handicapper who will really appreciate the quality feel of these clubs.
