Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Style Newport 2
I've been using and trying out several putters in the past 2 1/2 years since becoming a golf addict. My average putting strokes total per round is 32-34 ever since switching to left-hand low style. Most 4-6 footers uphill or straight flat lie are automatic. If I miss it would be because of my peeking at the ball too soon instead of keeping my head still. My constant search for a great putter ended after 3 months of research on this forum and other magazines when I discovered the 2005 SC Studio Newport 2 model. The combination of precise weighting and GSS insert really helps stabilize the clubface upon impact while providing a perfect feel throughout the swing. There's so much more confidence with this Newport 2 putter as I no longer have to find that "just right" setup for the clubhead at address. Relax, aim, emulate a pendulum with your swing, and watch the ball rolls true. I love it each time I have a 15-20ft putt because I still have time to look up to see the red sight line on the ball becomes a solid straight line as the ball drops into the cup. I should add that the Gauge Design putter is the closest anyone coming close to giving the same terrific feel as this Newport 2 model. The Taylormade models with AGSI inserts work as advertised but I find the soft feel at impact too dull to give you a realistic feedback on where you struck the putt on the clubface. This applies to the 2-Ball as well. The Yes putters definitely get the ball rolling truly but they don't offer the same nirvana response like the Newport 2. Pros: Try it out with your eyes closed to allow for the "feel" of the heavy clubhead and the pendulum effect to sink in, then start draining all putts. The GSS insert is slightly larger than the diameter of the ball so any mis-hits 1/4 inch on either side won't penalize you too much. The weight of the clubhead will resist twisting so your putts won't stray off that far --- perfect for those long lag putts. Cons: You may hurt your back if you practice endlessly with this baby. It's that addictive. Customer Service None needed. I'm sure they're first class based on others' feedbacks. I have just completed my first round with this amazing putter. To start with the looks are amazing. I'm an engineer by profession and this is truely a beautiful piece of design, milled from solid with the lovely long neck and platinum finish you know you'll hole putts with this stick long before the first green. But you don't want to hear me wax lyrical about what this putter looks like, you want to know what its like when you are stood over a five footer for par..... Well its AWESOME. Face balanced, with the most delightful feel off the face I have ever experienced. The long neck and slight toe cast is just perfect for my stroke, although this club is a 'little' short (34") I don't think i'll be changing it.... super feel, super weight and the most feedback I have had off any club - EVER. I don't think its the sort of putter a 28 handicapper should consider, but if you can use a bladed iron and hit a 250 yard drive then this putter will be you're new best friend... It is mine !! This putter is absolutely pure. Everything about it gives you confidence on the greens. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It had a cut down shaft when I bought it and I thought that it might be a problem considering I am 6'3" and 15 years old. But I have no problem with it. I've had this putter for five yrs and wouldn't trade it for any other. I love how the shaft on the santa fe style goes almost all the way to the club head. I hate those goofy necks on most putters. If you like a blade style putter this one is for you. Excellent feel to it! |

Best putter I have used, I cut it down to 32 inches and flatten the lie 2 degrees to fit me, Im just 5'4". The weight and feedback is great, its just takes commitment to care for it, keep it oiled or it will rust. Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Newport Stainless Steel
This is an amazing putter. The first thing you have to do is get over the price tag. Any dedicated golfer will easily spend $300 or more for a e.g., a driver, that will only be used on some of the holes on the golf course. Since the putter is used on every hole (at least once), the price is really not that ridiculous, especially considering the quality of the workmanship on this club. First, the appearance of the club is really quite beautiful. Clean crisp lines, multi-color accents, an atomic red leather head cover, and a "pivot tool" included. I picked this model over the other Studio Stainless models because I like the plumbing hosel and the sight line and the rounded edges on the head. The silver color with a non-glare finish is very attractive. I prefer this series over the Studio Design series (black) because the head seems more durable and is low maintenance. The putter is extremely well balanced and gets the ball rolling with relatively little effort. The ball rolls straight and very evenly and consistently off the face of the putter. The feel of the head, even though it is steel and there is no face insert, is very soft, which I like very much. The grip is the Cameron Studio grip by Golf Pride, which I didn''t really like when I first considered buying the club. But, when you get it in your hands you soon realize why S.C. chose to use this grip. It is very ergonomic and fits well in my hands, resists twisting, and has a nice "tacky" feel. If I wanted to, I could always replace the grip with another Titleist Cameron grip, available throught the web site at www.scottycameron.com, but I will probably stick with the factory grip since it is working well for me and I have come to like it. The only concern that I have is that I might lose the pivot tool (which sits in a little pocket in the head cover), but it is available separately through retail stores and on-line for about $14 (a great marketing idea by Titleist). This putter is very hard to get, and has been available only in limited quantities so far, and I researched it very carefully before purchasing it, but I am glad that I did. It is worth the price and was worth the wait. I think that Titleist and S.C. have a real winner with this putter (and probably the whole Studio Stainless series), and I don''t think I will be looking for another putter any time soon. Bravo, Scotty! Customer Service unable to comment, haven''t had to use customer service yet since the club is brand new Similar Products Used: Odyssey Dual Force 770, Odyssey White Hot #3 |

Cameron TEL 2 Santa fe proto
Strength:
None
Weakness:
None I recieved a prototype santa fe putter that scotty cameron built for me 2 months ago and it is the best investment in my game that I have ever made. The specs of the putter are as follows: Santa fe Teryllium 2 head, 4* loft, 29.25" shaft, 67.5* lie, Cameron cord grip with 13 layers of cross wraped electrical tape, I had the head nickel plated and the elastomer insert(white dots on back) drilled out. This gives a harder feel but should not be done b/c it will ruin the putter if you drill a fraction of a inch too deep. This set up gives me the perfect pendulum strokeand helps me to roll the ball on my intended line. The nickel plating and drilling enhance my feel and I like the look of the club much better. In the 2 months that I have been using this club my scoring average has dropped from 71.06 to 69.94, this doesn''t sound like much but when you play for a living 4 strokes over the course of a tournament means alot of money in my pocket. Oh yeah I AM NOT endorsed by cameron or titleist, I am supposed to be playing an odyssey putter by contract, I am saying all of this from the heart. Customer Service The people at Titleist and scotty cameron were great they helped me alot Similar Products Used: None |
