Cameron Studio Stainless Newport 2.5
How can one possibly justify spending $200 bucks on a darn putter? I'll tell you why. Because putting is almost all feel and I feel so damn good when I hold my puppy Cameron in my hands. Hi, I just bought an used (practically flawless) SS Newport 2.5 36 inch putter on Ebay and I have now played my first two rounds. Already, my putting average is @ 5 fewer per round vs. my old Odyssey. Ok, it's only two rounds but I can only get better with practice. This baby feels so solid. At first, I felt a little awkward about the narrow studio design grip (I have big hands) but now I actually feel that it helps me grip softer and it gives me more feedback. I'm confident that the putter putts true so I just line up and focus on a smooth pace and hitting it in the center. When I do, I come damn close if not in. In my mind, good high-end putters, like the Camerons, are under-priced relative to high-end drivers. There's no way those drivers are worth twice as much when you can save 10 strokes between a Cameron and an also-ran. There is no 10, let alone 20, stroke difference between a high-end driver and an also-ran. The only two negs I have are the cover and the place for the divot tool. I don't like red in my bag and the tool falls out far too easily. Cameron needs to do better than that and take an OGIO approach to designing new head covers.... Step up and pay a little more and be like me....I just can't wait to get to the dance floor. The rest is just fore-play. Customer Service Who needs em? Similar Products Used: Nothing similar. |

Like all the magazines, videos, pros, and everything else I've used to get better have said. 'If you can become a good putter you have mastered 80% of the game'. This putter has helped me get a lot closer to that goal. I've had multiple putters over the years everything from Taylor Made, Ping, Odyssey, etc. This putter makes all of them feel like a basic piece of metal on a stick. The feel and response I get from this putter is unbelievable. The first time out with it my putting improved remarkably. I actually sank about a 30 foot putt to end the round. I have only gotten better since. I know the price scares most people away but I would have to say that everybody that is a true golfer should spend their money on this line of putters over any driver out there. Although they are pricey I am rating this a 5 star for value because of the impact it has made on my game. Customer Service Haven't had any problems with it so far but the scotty cameron website is very helpful as far as care and warranty information Similar Products Used: Taylor Made Rossa, Odyssey Whit Hot 2, Older ping blades |

I admit...I'm a 'putterhead'. I have seven and counting. While recovering from surgery my family bought me this for $300. To sum it up...the putter is perfect. It has that wanted 'snob' appeal of a Mercedes/BMW that everybody wants and few afford. Its materials look are flawless. If you miss a putt it is your stroke. The weight, balance, bounce is perfect. Of the blades that I own (I also have mallet style putters that putt differently) it is the best, although my TP Mills (discontinued) is a close second. The balls seem to come off the face slower with this club. It is well worth the price. Customer Service I've used the web site to register my club, but have not had any other experience with the company Similar Products Used: Ping Ally, Mizuno TP Mills 7 |

this putter just gets me excited every time i take it out of the headcover. whenever you have a cameron in your hand it makes you feel good. i dont know if you have noticed but most pros play camerons. most of them use a stainless. the stainless, gives you a solid feel. the face, not having an insert is very consistent. the blade design head i believe is the best design you can get. i know a lot of people think the 2 ball or futura is easier to putt with but i believe with teh blade you keep your mind free, you dont concentrate on lining every ball up, you just put the putter behind the ball and stroke it, simply as that. you get great distance on your long putts. this club just makes me wanna get to the green. and might i just say there is no greater feeling then drainin a 10 footer for birdie with a scotty cameron putter. think about it.... for those of you who have never tried a cameron..you're missin out big time!! After changing the grip to a larger golf pride chord, this putter has improved my putting greatly. I had a two-ball and after watchin Mike Weir win the Masters last year got a Cameron mil-spec which really improved my putting. So I went a step further and got the Newport 2.5. Both are great putters and well worth the money. This is from your basic 3 yapper but not any more. Fantastic feel , distance control and balance. Now I know why so many of the pros use Titleist Cameron putters. Customer Service great try them if you are a lefty. Good weight and feel. Nice, small grip. Can feel toe flow effect on longer putts due to short hosel. Not a bad thing in my opinion. Distance accuracy is good. Lines up well. Ball contact not overly crisp like Pro Platinum. I think this helps staying aggressive on those 15-20 footers. Looks are very clean. Makes me want to practice putting more, always a good thing. The Newport Studio Stainless 2.5 is a beautifully crafted putter by one of the most reknowned and meticulous individuals in the golf equipment industry. This particular putter is very well balanced and perfectly weighted. The combination of these two attributes allow me to keep the putter head on line from draw back to follow through. The neck of this putter is short and flowing. Aesthetically, the looks really appeal to me.From a practical standpoint, the neck setup benefits me tremendously because I tend to fan the putter slightly on the draw back. People who putt back and through may consider the Studio Stainless 2.0. On impact, when the ball meet the putter face the feel is very sweet and the ball rolls beautiful (when the ball is struck perpendicilar to the sight line that is!). The stock cameron grip by golf pride is very neutral and is properly sized for me. This allows me to feel the putter head throughout the putt. If the grip was any larger or heavier, I would not feel the head...any smaller/lighter and the head would dominate and feel too heavy. The length of the putter is an individual preference. I like a 33.5" overall putter length measured from the butt end to the middle of the putter head (sight line). I'm 5'11" and this allows me to let my arms hang while putting. As a 9 handicapper, I believe that putting is definitely the most important part of the game to lower your score. An 18 handicapper may disagree with me and feel that his middle irons are most important...while a 25 handicapper may feel it is the driver that is most important. Putting is truly an art and it is really a touchy/feely part of the game. For serious players the price of $250-$300 is not that expensive considering that you may require to use it 36 times a round. Most people would pay $400-$500 for a driver to only use it up to 14 times and lose many high price golf balls to boot! All in all a great putter.
