I'm a very good putter, maybe one of the best. I almost never 3 putt. I bought this club, it was expensive. It was shiny and clean and I thought it really looked neat. I liked the headcover too. However, it was not so neat on the course. I didn't make one putt over 20 feet. I usually drain about 3 of those per round. I'm a player.

I called and asked for Scottie but he wasn't there. How lame is that?

After reading all the reviews on this site about the Red X2 i thought i would add the view of someone
who has had it in his bag since it first arrived in 2004. I could not get my putts to drop prior to this purchase
I have gone from a dodgy putter to it being the strongest part of my game. The reason for this is simple
This Scotty is so easy to align. All you do is line the putter up with your chosen line then lay the sole flat on the
ground and line the 3 dots behind the shaft so you can't see them and make your stroke.
At first you will make putts and wonder how because a totally square set up will feel strange, but stick with it as i
have over the last 5 years and your ability to score will go up and when your not playing well if you stick to the set
up above your ability to scramble will improve also.

I have just sent mine back to Scotty Cameron for a custom paint fill and a total new refurb. I am a total golf nut and
change clubs like they are going out of fashion i will never change this club simple. Think about it i shoot in the 70's
and 80's on average then 30% of all my shots per round are with the putter, you only hit 12% of the shots you make
with the Driver, so go buy a Red X2 it will be your freind for life! :)

I hope this helps you improve your game.

Thanks and good luck

Scott

One of my favorites of any center shafted mallet putter I've every tried or purchased. Somewhat soft yet crisp feel (not spongy). Easy to align and great balance.
As an added plus, this putter has a great sound off the ball.
As with all Camerons, a bit pricey but quality material and craftmenship.

Been looking for a mallet styled putter for a while now. My old putter while great was blade-style and with some of the slower greens I play was getting tough to make putts from anywhere outside 5 feet. The first time I took it out, I made the 5 footers and a couple of 10 footers. Also able to lag that missed in a 2 foot circle. This is exactly what I was looking for in a putter. The look is inspiring and you actually feel that you can make any putt from any distance.

As the salesman put it, this is the Ferrari of putters.

Purchased my redx2 about a week ago after feeling I was missing way too many short putts with my 2 ball Odyssey. This putter just felt silky in the store. The weight felt very similar to the two ball but much less going on behind the blade. Distance seems much easier to translate. One thing I find with any club...if you feel confident with it from the onset your more likely to have a successful outcome. This putter gives confidence thru it's easy to align 3 dot system, silky feel, soft sound, and excellent balance. Sure it's a bit much to pay for a putter but as last review mentioned, putts account hopefully for no more than like 25-30 per round, but that's more use than your driver will see. Many people have no problem spending $400 for a driver. Definetly feel this putter has taken 3-5 strokes off my game per round. Wait till I really get used to it :)

Great Putter!!! I had been using the Newport 2 with great results. However, I wanted a putter that was faced balanced and pleased to see that Scotty Cameron released this line of mallet putters. The club is a bit more soft, however, I adjusted very quickly. On the contrary, I found that the lightness allowed me to actually swing the putter on shorter putts thus keeping the face on-line. I have made many more putts from all distances due to the feel and multiple alignment aids; Center line, (3) Dot alingment. I highly recommend this putter as making more putts makes your round much more fun.

After hearing mostly positive reviews about the Scotty Cameron Red X putters, I decided to try them out. I spent some time practicing with the Red X and Red X2 models alongside my Newport 2. I felt like the distance control with the Newport 2 was a little better than the Red X. However, my alignment with the Red X putters was much better. I was almost always on the correct line, and the ball had an excellent roll. As other reviews have stated, this putter does not behave like a typical mallet. The feel is still very soft and the head is not very bulky. The greatest benefit has been the accuracy (line). The putter is balanced very well and seems to easily follow a pendulum putting stroke. The three red dots behind the center shaft help make sure the face is perfectly square and aligned on every shot. Also, the rounded top line helps to make sure the putter loft is not reduced by a forward press. I have never made as many long puts as I do now. I have loved this putter, but offer a caveat. Putters are very personal and need to be practiced with. I believe the Red X2 will help the alignemnt of most people helping them make more 10-20 fott putts. The soft metal will also aid in giving feedback and enhanced feel.

I've been using Scotty's for nearly nine years and have a good collection of his putters...all have performed very well for me. I had used a variety of mallet putters a number of years ago...Zebra, Rossi I and the Never Compromise Alpha...all were good. I prefer the center shaft over the offset and was very pleased with my demo results...but that was on a practice green. I took a chance and bought the X2 and the results on the course, the real thing, have been very, very good. Though it is a mallet and reminds me of the Rossi, it does not perform like a traditional mallet...much lighter in the hands, very true on the greens...had no problem with having to adjust my stroke, as I have been using a Scotty Newport Beach 1.5. I know the Scotty's are pricey but I don't think there is a better putter / putter line out there...I think the number used on the pro tour shows that to be true. You have to demo though...putters are, to me, the most personal club in the bag (I think most would agree), not that the other clubs aren't. I've been playing for over forty years and I have a hell of a collection of putters and all of them, in their time, were very good to me. I would recommend giving the Red X & X2 a try next time you're in a pro shop, I think you'll be surprised at how good these mallet putters really are...forget the price...you only go around once and you can't take it with you! Enjoy!

I have been a dedicated Never Compromise user for many years--I prefer a center shaft. This Scotty Cameron caught my eye in the shop and I couldn't miss there, but often that doesn't work out on the course. My initial warm up session on the putting green was disappointing, as I was leaving everything short at first, but after a while I was doing better than with my old putter. A few weeks later, I have now used this putter on the course and have been coming closer on a regular basis, sinking all short putts and making more than my usual share of 10-20 footers. I can align the putter easily, it puts the ball in motion smoothly, has a very solid feel and after a very little practice is easy to manage distance. This is a great putter. Wish it were $50, but it is still worth it.
