Model Reviewed: Ping Anser & Ping Sedona

I have tried both the Sedona f and Anser f and love them both. The putter I ended up sticking with was the Anser f, though either would have been a winner. My Anser is actually the one with the Titanium pixels that was made in limited numbers. It has more pixels and covers a little more area on the face of the putter. This putter offers wonderful feel and touch that I didn''t get with the ss or mang bronze Ping putters. It is also a little heavier than 90% of the putters out there, which I really like. Each time I strike it, I know the ball is going to come off the face with a consistent speed. Looking at it from the top, all you see is a traditional Ping putter. I would say my Anser f is comparable to the Cameron putters, in fact I chose to keep it over my Pro Platinum Newport 2, though I would have been happy with either. So far the putter has worn wonderfully, and I feel like the insert is going to feel the same this year as it does 5 years from now, something I question with the polymer type inserts. I also love the patina it has developed, makes it feel like an old friend when you pull it out of the bag. I picked up the titanium pixel Anser f for a steal of a price, I know that they seem to go around $200 on up (the limited series) on ebay, so I guess they should be comparable to a Cameron for that price. Believe most of the limited series are numbered on the face and I think had a production run of 3,000. Mine has no numbers on the front, so it must have been put out prior to making the limited production run though it looks identical. If you can find one and love Ping''s styling, it is worth a try. Even if you can''t find the limited edition, I would still recommend the Sedona f if you like heel shafted putters (and can find one, the Sedona f''s seem to be a little hard to find as well compared to the others).

This putter is superb. Since using this putter I have been able to judge the pace of puts very easily. This makes putts run very true and now i can one putt from further and with more confidence than i have ever had. Well worth the money.

This is one of the best putters i have ever tried. I still prefer the original anser to this model but i love this putter. It has added confidence to my putting game. The only disadvantage is the weight of this putter. I find it is extremly heavy.

This putter rolls truer and inspires more confidence than any I've played. As others have said mishits do come up short, but if you do your part, you'll sink a lot of putts. I can attribute a drop in my handicap from 21 to 16 directly to this putter. Congratulations to Ping for a fine product.

I like the weighting on the head, it is heavy and stable feeling. I dont know why more putters dont have a weighted head like that. The insert, however, is a bad idea unless you hit it on the sweet spot every time. The difference the distance the ball rolls off the insert, versus off anywhere else, is about 20 percent or worse. I dont know about you, but a lot of times I am thinking about line and distance, and keeping my head down, etc., so much I forget to hit the sweet spot, so the insert to me is just one more thing to worry about and is no help. I much prefer my stainless Zing2, even though i had to add lead tape to get the right weight. Hey, they have to keep coming up with new gimmicks dont they, otherwise we would all be hitting the same putters we had ten years ago.

Tested this after looking for other face balanced putters. Love the heft and weight of the head...seems to stay on line well. Visually alright - head shape is a bit assymetrical so that is a bit disconcerting. Best feature is the reassuring click you get when putting 3 piece balls (you lose it when putting softer 2 piecers) DO NOT pay full price for this club (retail $140) You can find it commonly around $90. Ping quality is there and unlike other putters with inserts, I won't worry about this copper insert wearing down (A golf ball cover as an face insert for a putter -ala Odyssey- hello? my callaway rule ball are marred after one good wedge shot.)
All in all, even though feel and sound are excellent, visual characteristics are something to be desired. Have switched to the Ping Anser X - face balanced maganese bronze with similar sound and feel but i feel more confident staring down at this one.

With file " Pixel IsoForce Technology " composed from aluminum hexagons in a bronze body manganese. It concurs to stabilize the disposition of the perimetrale weight without to lose the great tolerance to the errors that the Ping has always characterized putter. Light short pipette with offset.

A nice, well-balanced putter which provides great feel for all kinds of putts. Putted great with this the first time I used it. My lag putts were more accurate than ever before, and I holed two 15+ footers, which never happens to me. Great club!
