Ping Doc 17
Great club. At address it is very confidence inspiring. It makes the 4-6 footers seem a lot easier. I putted much better with this. I used an Anser-style putter before. The finish began to wear off after about 2 months. According to Ping's website, this is a known problem with the Doc 17. Customer Service They were very nice and told me they would refinish the club or replace it. |

Awesome putter on slick greens. I have issues with it on slow shaggy greens. AZ GOLF FORUM http://www.azgolfforum.com |

Doc 17 35"
The putter was very good from short distances, but it takes a week to get used to getting the 40 footer's close to the pin The putter is a bit soft, and has a light feel to it. The face got marked up after 2 months, so Ping let me trade it for a new Doc 15. Customer Service Always, always great. Doc 17 RH 34"
They say that those with the most solid putting stroke (Loren Roberts, Tiger) can put with a broomstick and be as consistent, and the putter will not automatically give a golfer more touch on the green. I find it crucial, however, that a player have confidence in his putter at address to make a confident, constructive effort at making putts. The Doc 17 is definitely that putter for me. I'd sum up my impressions in one word: solid. At first, the Doc 17 will seem monstrously large, and it certainly peaked my interest at the golf shop. After putting with it and comparing it with a host of others for more than an hour, I was really only impressed with the Doc. The feel is solid, yet soft, and just how I want all my putts to feel. On the course, it took me a week or so to really get used to gauging speed with such a wildly different putter, but it definitely came, as did the 1-putts. I very rarely miss within 6 feet with the Doc, and I'm not one to posess nerves of steel when it counts. Two minor downfalls: the huge size comes with the solid putts, and can really cause a headache on the green/fringe or fringe/rough collar of the green. Secondly, the lime green grip, while I am in love with its touch, seems to get "grubby" and darken a bit with normal use. It doesn't seem to affect performance, however, and it can be easily regripped. Don't be daunted by the Doc's raw size--give it a while and a real try at your golf shop. In a world of imitation PING Ansers and gimmicky additions to the back of putters, I feel the Doc 17 is PING's next big step in putter innovation. SOLID. Customer Service No experience as of yet...
