Nike Unitized Retro Putters

Nike Unitized Retro Putters

DESCRIPTION

These Nike Unitized putters are engineered to transmit vibrations that resonate with the golfer’s natural sensory systems. This putter’s unitized construction also provides unparalleled feel. The result is remarkably improved feedback that translates into better distance control. The absence of a shaft-to-head bond provides a clean look at address. CNC precision-milled 303 stainless clubhead.

Human hands are most sensitive to vibrations from 100 Hz to 300 Hz - an optimal range that allows for the most tactile feedback. Traditional bonded putters generate a dominant vibration far outside the optimal sensitivity range. Unitized construction creates a powerful and sustained response within the optimal range for pure feedback. Better feedback means better distance control.

Occassionally its great to be very pleasantly suprised. I have never considered myself a great putter but after many years had found that a mallet style putter provided me with the balance needed to make me good enough. I had not changed putters for a few years now but found this Nike putter secondhand in a bargain bin and after finding it really easy to use on the shop practice carpet decided to buy it - just for a change.

What a great move - my first rounds with this have revealed it to be very well balanced and weighted and has given me increased confidence with those six footers - you know the ones that make or break your round.
Seems like I fell into a little gem...

I went to a store to try out some Ping putters and saw several used putters sitting on the side. This one was the first one I picked up and I just kept hitting it in. Well, I figured it was just the little putting pad and all the putters would be like that. So I tried out everything from the cheapest Ping Karsten all the way up to the Redwood, tried out some Odyssys as well. I thought this one felt more natural and had a nice soft "pop" feeling when you hit the ball square. The feel on distance was much better on this club than any of the others. I didn't noticed the "unitized" seamless shaft to club head until the 3rd time I picked it up - didn't buy it for looks as it was a little beat up. At first I thought it was a graphite shaft or something because of the finish, but it actually melds right into the head. Pretty cool. Grip feels fine. There's just a little dot, but putting with this just felt natural and since putting on real grass I haven't had any problems aiming and distance control is still good. It does let you feel if you hit it poorly, as you don't feel that soft pop, its more a hard ting. Anyways, see if you can find one of these used or new for cheap online. Mines looks to have seen plenty of use and still puts great, it's just a big hunk of forged/milled steel after all.

After reading about the Nike Unitized, I was very interested about the one piece technology. I was a bit skeptical that the feel of these putters was just hype. I decided to demo putters at my local golf store.

I compared the Nike Unitized Retro with the Scotty Cameron Circa 62 No. 1. The putters are very similar in shape and weight, but the feel of the two putters was like night and day. The Cameron Circa 62 is a great butter, but the Nike Unitized just felt much better. I felt like I had absolute control of distance with the Unitized.

I decided to buy a 34" Unitized Retro and I have used it a few times now and couldn't be happier. I was a loyal Scotty Cameron user for a few years, but my Cameron is out of the bag now.

Do yourself a favor and try the Nike Unitized. You won't be disappointed!
