MacGregor M1 Putter by Bobby Grace
I just bought my M1 off eBay for $35. A bargain compared to most of my collection especially the Scotty's and Bettinardi. It is the most solid feeling putter I've ever used AND it is heavy. The overall weight of mine is 365 grams (adjustable if you buy the weight kit) - I'll never leave another putt short again! I'd describe the look from the top line as similar to my Newport 2 though slightly thicker...if you like the looks of a Newport 2, you won't be disappointed with the M1. If you have an opportunity to get one on the putting green, your a goner. MacGregor isn't the household name that it once was and had it not been for your site/reveiws I might not have even considered buying one. I believe for this reason you'll be able to find one for a reasonable price. Good luck! Similar Products Used: Take it from someone who has played them all....Bettinardi, Odyessy White Hot's, (2)Scotty's - Santa Fe & Studio Style Newport2 and too many more to mention. Let's just say I have about 20 in the old putter garden. Most of them are crafted after the Anser-types. Now that I've got this butter smooth Bobby Grace, they are now all retired. |

MacGregor M1 putter
I have traveled a long and winding road in search of "THE putter" and I finally found it in the MacGregor M1. Best described as smooth, sensitive and very solid. The standard (adjustable) weighting is heavier than most. Appearance is clean and classic with a flange thats a bit deeper than most Anser-style putters, which inspires confidence at address. Milled construction is as good as it gets. I bought the M1 during winter, and it was not the undisputed champ on the basement rug. On the green, however, it is the most effective putting tool I've ever had in my hands... from any distance. This is a rare jewel from designer Bobby Grace and MacGregor. Highly recommended. Tracy was in the bag before the M2 arrived. |

Mac Gregor Bobby Grace M1 Putter
The Mac Gregor BG M1 is simply the best feeling putter to touch my hands. I have been playing with the Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Newport Beach for a few years now and I have been very satisfied with it. Infact, until recently, I would have never considered buying another putter ever again. What made me sway was the speed of greens. I am a very touchy putter and I don't like muscling any putts. I prefer fast greens. I just want to choose the line and let the putter do the rest of the work. I have tried many other putters before (e.g. Scotty Cameron Futura, Odyssey Two Ball, Various Ping blades etc.)I have never been able to adjust to the feeling of a putter restricting my natural swing path like the Odyssey two ball does. I like to swing the toe of my putter from open to close. This is just me and my style of putting. However what I found in the Bobby Grace M1 putter that was lacking in my Scotty Cameron was the weight. The M1 is so solid when it contacts the ball, even for short putts, you can feel the outter shell of the ball compress against the putter face.... This is my new baby in the bag. The removable weights were kept stock on my putter and I don't plan on changing them anytime soon. There is a weight kit that allows for a decrease of increase in weight but the weight of this putter already rivals all mallot type putters so I would leave it alone.......I saved many long pars with my scotty and I plan on saving many more with the M1. If you are a blade type putter or you just can't stand the look of some putters that seem like they should be nailed to the bottom of a horse hoof or flying through space in the next episode of star wars, then this putter will surely impress you.
