I had been using some cast off putters from friends and relatives that were all basic Anser knock-offs for the last couple of years. With all these free putters I never had a reason to buy one until I borrowed a Carbite on the practice green for a few strokes from a kind stranger. I like how that ball felt lively and cushioned at the same time coming off the club head. For me the brass ball inlay feels better than a lot of the polymer and plastic inserts which feel too squishy at impact and seem to lose feel on longer putts which require more oomph when putting. The Cap3 with the brass ball inlay feels consistent on long a short putts. I like a heavy putter and the mallet head on this one looks good at address and fits my pendulum style swing. I won't lie and say that it took strokes off my game right away but I rarely 3 putt anything anymore and I get the long ones 'in the peach basket' almost every time. The distance is usually right due to the good feel of the club, if I miss by a wide margin it is usually due to misreading the green. I have the shortneck style but I don't think that makes much difference in performance just in appearance. Carbite doesn't make these any more so the used market or pro-shops clearing out stock may be the only place to get them. This was a good deal for me at $45, especially since I played a round the other day with a guy using a Scotty Cameron Futura and had fewer putts on the day. If you like heavy mallet putters put this one on your short list since you can usually find it for a good price these days.

Model Reviewed: Carbite 3 cap putter

I had been using a Calloway Tuttle but found that the shape of the Calloway sole seemed to catch on the grass. This Carbite small mallet goes smoothly along the swing path and has a very nice feel to it at ball contact. I bought a 35 inch and had it cut down and regripped. Very nice putter.
