I got these sweet clubs at ebay. After my first round with these babies, I knew they were the right ones. The superb feel that a well hit ball gives you is putting a grin on my face every time. I have had quite a lot of other sets, but I will reshaft and regrip these in order to keep them for the next couple of seasons. The best club I ever put my hands on!!!!

MIGHT AS WELL JOIN YOU ALL... THE 1976 WILSON STAFF EX-STIFF BLADES ARE A DELIGHTFUL EXPERIENCE. ALTHOUGH A 15 HDCP, THESE BLADES FORCE YOU TO DEVELOPE A BETTER TEMPO AND FEEL "TERIFFIC" WHEN STRUCK CLEAN. (YES, THEY CAN WAKE YOU UP AS WELL!) EASY TO SHAPE SHOTS WITH, THEY ALSO PICK THE BALL CLEANLY FROM THE FAIRWAY. I'M 'GARAGE SELLING' MY CAVITY BACKS! OH YES, I'VE BEEN SHOOTING 3-5 STROKES BETTER' WITH THE WILSONS.....

Just bought a set of these with rifle 6.0 shafts. Absolutely surprised when I got them. These things are nice and heavy compared to the clubs being made today. They probably swing at a d4. When you hit these flush, they are absoutely wonderful! The clean look of the muscle looks much better than the stuff made today. I am an 8 handicap and have had 42 sets of clubs over the last 4 years that I have been playing. I say this sincerely that for the money, you can't beat these! Play softer and better than the forgings made today except for the softer older mizunos ie 14s and 29s. Get these if you have a chance.

This is the cleanest blade ever made in the 80s till now. By the skill of Faldo, Stewart and many more its the best club ever. Cleaner and better balanced that every mizuno, apex...no offset, no perimeter - if you the ball in or near sweetspot its marvellous "what a killer blow"

I totally lucked out on this set. I bought them for $10 at a garage sale and I even got the 2 iron and SW (even though I carry neither one). I put down my cast 845s 2 years ago and havent looked back since. These are by far the best clubs I have ever hit. They are very "fair". The clubs were in immaculate shape and the only thing I have done to them was to put Rifle 5.5s in them. Standard, they were 1" short and I didnt really notice, but since I reshafted them, exactly the same, I have noticed a much more controlled ball and lower scores. Any golfer who is scratch-6 should look into these.

First off, when I decided on getting an old set of staffs I already had the fg-17's in mind and decided i was definitely gonna get those. After looking for awhile for the set i wanted it turns out my neighbor had a set of fluid feels in his basement. I had a few chances to get these clubs cheap in good condition but i didnt think i was gonna like them becuase they have a thin face without the "muscle" that the fg-17's had. But was i surprised these clubs are awesome. Working the ball is fairly easy and the low irons aren't very difficult to hit. Distance is pretty good and they are easier to find than the fg-17's. You do have to be good to use these and when im not swinging well the clubs are hard to hit well but do yourself a favor and get a set. you cant go wrong.

A game improvement club in blades clothing. My handicap dropped 4 points after buying thes. Not to say that these clubs are forgiving, but they do give lots of feedback about your swing. Lofts are traditional, so there was an initial loss of distance. However, after less than a year of playing these, my distance returned due to a more efficient swing and better contact. Beautiful clubs with smooth lines, no 'edges', so they resist dings. The sensicore shafts in mine provide the perfect blend of feel and vibration dampening. Hard to find, but worth the search. Would suggest finding a cheaper 'well-used' set and having them rechromed. This process is not as expensive as you might think, and will give you fresh grooves and the most amazing looking clubs you have ever seen.

In my honest opinion these are the best iron that have EVER been made. I am an honest 70s golfer and have been for about five years. I have used just about any players club you can name and these get the nod. I recently sold all of my other iron and purchased two sets of the staff tour blades. I got them rechromed at the iron factory. These guys are the absolute best. They are who the pros use. They are the most beutiful irons ever crafted and the feel as smooth as silk. They way they work the ball is amazing. They do not alow you to develop bad swing habits. When you mis-hit, you know it,and as a result you can fix it. They are the best plain and simple.

Customer Service

No contact with wilson as clubs are 20 plus years old but the iron factory was great

I rate them extremely high, especially since I just purchased a new set. There''s nothing like the feel and consistency of forged irons, and they really are just about as easy to hit as the so called forgiving clubs. I played forged irons from age 11 to age 54, then unfortunately listened to all the hype about "forgiving" clubs. After trying forged again, I fell in love with the feel, and have now gone back to them. They are giving me much more consistent distance control, and of course feel which is impossible to achieve with cast.

These irons were given to me about 8 years ago and sat in my basement until this fall. The clubs were in near new condition with only a few rounds on them but the grips were dried out so I didn''t give them a whole lot of thought until last year... I started to take my game a bit more seriously starting in 2000 mand my iron play has really improved to where I felt my existing clubs (Wilson Staff Ultra45''s)could be upgraded. My thoughts went to those blades in the basement and I said "Why not give them a try?". I knew they were very good clubs but I admitt to being a bit tentative, so I took a 4,6, and 8 from each set to the range and did a side by side of old vs. new (or is it new vs. old???). Well let me say that after hitting a dozen balls w/ each club I was convinced that I wanted to use the FG-17''s. The sound and feel of a well struck ball was beautiful. It was a straight trip to the local golf shop for new grips and some soap and water to clean them up. These blades now grace my bag and the exiliration of hitting them true does not fade. The ball seems to bore throught the air and stays straight. Granted the mis-hits are not as good as mis-hits with the Ultra 45''s but those couple of shots a round dont dampen my enthusiasm and the properly hit shots are soooo much nicer. I find that I can now stop approach shots onto the hardest of greens. I never could stop any club longer than a 9 on most greens while now 5 irons check up nicely!! The feel when I hit the ball properly is as if there were no ball there at all, it''s effortless and the ability to work bend the shot at will is a new experience. I admit I take some good natured ribbing from my golf buddies about playing with old clubs but I just smile and enjoy golf as I have never enjoyed it before. These are KEEPERS.
