Wilson Fat Shaft Hyper Carbon irons
LOVE these irons! Have had these clubs for about seven years now...wow that's crazy.I have owned several other sets of irons since then but still keep regripping these irons each season. They fly high and straight even on off center hits. You will loose some distance, but it will fly straight. These clubs are great from thick rough as they have a very wide sole. I sometimes have trouble knocking shots down into the wind because they tend to have a high flight trajectory. Some others have reviewed these clubs as being hard to shape with low workability. I disagree, I can easily hit a high draw or fade. Long irons are easier to draw, short irons are easier to fade. These clubs don't have a traditional hossel. They have a small thin plastic ring around the end of the shaft that will break off as soon as you shank one. Other than that I have no complaints about these clubs. I would highly recommend these clubs to beginners and intermediate players alike. The thick "fat shafts" resists twisting through impact which helps straighten out shots, especially on off center hits. If you can find the full set cheap on EBay, go for it! You will not regret it! Customer Service Excellent. My 5wood was replaced no questions asked, even after the warranty had expired! Very happy with their customer service! |

Am still in my young teens and have had a few sets of clubs (wilson s-28, wilson deep reds II, callaway x20 tour, ban hogan bh-5) go in and out of my bag, these are up there with some of the best, although i would take the wilson deep reds (9I 155) over these, i find them a little less that them, but they still fly the ball long high and far, you can slightly work the ball with these clubs, but the dram is more like a pull and a push on the other, and trying to hit the balls low often fail, but can help by taking a club more gripping down and "gramps" swinging, but still fly's high, and stopping the ball is easy because of the height you get off of them, the lowest i have manages to shoot with these is a modest 79 which is not my best round, but i think you could probs ake a couple more shots off of that, so any player would get on with these clubs, and even people that are getting older and losing that swing speed, or need help getting the ball in the air, and you can pick up a decent set for about 80quid on ebay, bargain for the fun and best you can have from out driving your mates driver with an iron! honestly i would get the hogans and deep reds over these, but these will deffo make somebody very happy as they once did me. These are the most accurate irons that I have ever played. Ball flight is straight as an arrow, and the distance is 2-3 clubs more than my usual set. Only difficulty is hitting it too far...and being able to work the ball with these irons is tough....However, who cares about working the ball when you are hitting most ever shot DEAD STRAIGHT....!!!!! Also, the weight of the heads and stability of the FS makes these irons get a ball out of anything! Best irons you will ever hit....!!!! Great, great innovation with the Fat Shaft WILSON!!! Customer Service Excellent in regards to question on FS driver. Similar Products Used: Ping Zing 2, Ping i3, Callaway Big Bertha |

I use to shoot in the 100's.Wilson Fat Shaft FS red lettering on the heel with black number Ive heard them called Fat Shaft 11 made between 1999-2001.The ultimate game improveing irons although they have an over size head and that huge fat shaft and you do not work the ball with these irons but who cares.I thought that technolgy would have improved over the past six years I have played with Cleveland Launcher Irons Callaway 2006 Big Bertha and x-18's which only wish they had the distance of these old Wilson FS Fat Shaft irons.

FS Hypercarbon
I dislocated my left elbow last June and this forced me to set aside my Ben Hogan set for a Graphite shaft so as to dump to somewhat reduce the vibration in healing elbow. I scouted for a cheap set since this would be on a temporary basis. I saw one the "FS Hypercarbon Fat Shaft" on ebay selling for USD 150.00. Though I am not a fan of Wilson, I clicked the buy now since the price is pretty competitive. Though I have a new set, I am excited to play golf again but I am not excited to use it since I am not a Wilson fan. I tried my newly purchased iron at the range and WOW !!!!!!! The ball flies Straight as an arrow. The distance is 3 to 5 yards maybe longer than my HOGAN even for a slow swing. The flies high though but it is OKAY. #3 and #4 VERY EASY TO HIT - > It is comparable to a HYBRID Club. The ball flight behaves the same when I used it for a round of golf.. Amazing CLUB !!! Ball stops on par 3s.. Highly recommended. Next year I will try my Hogan to assess w/c one I shall sell but at this point, I could honestly say that this set (FS) is for keeps. CONS: If you a feel player, the club may be not for you. Customer Service N/A |

I started playing with 1991 Callaway big bertha clubs. The woods...great. My irons just didn't do well. At work during break and lunch we go out back on our home made golf coarse, 4 holes, and play around. A pal of mine was selling his fs clubs. I used them a bit, mostly the P and 9 irons since the shortness of the coarse, was so amazed I asked to take them to the range. Went out, started my normal routine with my callaways, go set, switched to my fs, and boom. Longer, straighter, and higher shots coming from the fatshafts. I've seen reviews of not being able to drive through the wind, but in 30 MPH winds here today, using a 7 I, I pushed right through the wind. Ball placement comes into play, but the clubs just help SO much. I was pushing 150 with my 7 iron easily. Forced me to slow down, and make smooth shots. I was hitting targets all over the field, it was very easy compared to my callaways, so, I spent 200 and bought the complete set with Sand Wedge. GREAT addition, I'm not looking for the woods to see if they're as good as the irons. Customer Service Not Needed |

Demo'd out a 5 iron for nearly three months at the range and couldn't get over the distance and height the club gave me. I finally bought a new set and couldn't believe the consistency of each club. I've since added the lob and gap wedge to the arsenal and it has improved my game inside 150 yds by 10 strokes a round. I love 'em! Awesome irons - made a huge difference in my game. Had problems hitting my 3 and 4 iron with my Taylor Made 360's. Very easy to hit with the Fat Shafts with a great feel. I have the graphite shaft irons and you get a lot of distance with the clubs. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made 200 and 360 series irons, RAM FX2 irons |

Having had considerable difficulty consistently escaping from the rough at my links course I tried a friend’s Fatshaft 8 iron and was amazed with the ease at which I was able to get out. Not only was I able to get the ball out, I was also able to get it well out and a considerable distance down the fairway. This revelation came on the 15th hole and as it was a non-competition round I played in with my friend’s irons and was immediately sold on them. I was hitting the ball long and straight and the clubs felt a lot heavier than my own Wilson Staff irons. The next thing I knew was that I had sold my trusty Wilson Staffs and invested in a set of FatShafts. There is no doubt that the FatShafts are an easy club to hit. They are also very forgiving. But I hate them! I have found that I have no feel for short chips or bump and runs. My trademark chip with an 7 or 8 iron from the side of the green has given way to a tentative putt, simply because I have no feel for or confidence with these irons as short game tools. I find it extremely difficult to work the ball and particularly difficult to release the ball to roll out to the hole. The irons feel clumpy unless I am hitting a full or three quarter shot and they provide little or no feedback. My handicap has increased by a full shot since investing in the FatShafts. My long game is more consistent and straight, but straight does not always mean accurate and I find myself hitting the ball straight left or straight right as often as straight down the middle! I was a good Iron player before I bought these clubs but I find that my ability to work a ball has become redundant as the FatShafts compensate heavily for any shot not hit straight off the sweet spot. Today I invested in a set of Titleist irons and will shed no tears for the FatShafts. That being said these are not bad clubs – they’re very good clubs for somebody who is a beginner or who struggles for consistency with their irons. They are exceedingly forgiving but that forgiveness comes at the expense of feel. They are a fast track route to long and straight shots but I don’t think they will improve your golf in the long term. For pride's sake I would like to take my Titleist blades or even my Callaway S2H2's to the course rather than these. But, I play these - simply the best game improvement club I have ever hit. As such I am forced to swing easily, smoothly. When I do that with these clubs a shotgun has to go off on my backswing for me to hit a bad shot. That said, the distance control on full swings can be a bit problematic. Just a touch of adrenaline can push, e.g., an 8 iron 40 yards further than the 140 I intend. But even that isn't all bad news when you really have to step on one to get over a tree to a distant pin. The bottom line here is that I strike the ball better than I ever have. Let me re-phrase that: the RESULTS of my striking the ball are better than ever. Further, swallowing my pride, I have to admit hitting more "memorable" shots in three seasons with these than I did in 20 seasons of hitting blades and "near blades". A little tip: "regular" plays as stiff due to the oversized hosel and shaft. The "funky look": just "get over it"!! Customer Service Excellent. I ordered then 2 up and +1/4 and they came in on the money. Similar Products Used: Titleist Tour, Callaway S2H2 |
