I recently switched to these clubs from the Titleist 670's, and what a great decision it was. With the 670's I think I was just not playing often enough to get the best out of those irons. With the new 704's I have found a new level of forgiveness, but with the same workability and feel as I had with the 670's. On a mis-hit I get the feedback I need to know what I did wrong, yet it is not a total lost shot necessarily. Plus distance!!!---The biggest problem I have had with the 704's is in choosing the right club. The ball is just going so much further with these irons. I know I have gained at least 10-15 yards per iron, and often that can mean the difference between a 6 and 8 iron for an approach, or better yet a 4 and 6 iron. They have helped my game and my confidence a bunch. I suppose the only down side some could find in the club is the price. I know there are many very good iron sets out there that are considerably less expensive, but I totally forget what I paid when I am on the course getting the results I am from them. Plus, snobby as it may sound, I do really enjoy carrying a bag full of Titleist clubs too---it adds a little touch of confidence for me, and we all know how much confidence can impact a golf game.

I have yet to deal directly with Titleist Customer Service, but I can only imagine it meets the exacting standards they uphold with their production.

I bought these irons about two months ago and I have to say that I absolutely love them. I picked up at least 1 club in yardage. These clubs spin the ball very well too. I'm noticing that I can carry the ball farther into the green now, since I don't have to worry about it releasing off the back. When I tested these clubs at my local shop they had S300 shafts but I ordered X100. I'm happy with the decision because I like the results that I get with the X100s, but I have to say it requires substantially less effort to hit the S300. I also tested the Ping G2, TM RAC OS, and TM RAC LT. Of those the only club that I liked was the RAC LT, and it was a really close decision between those and the 704.CB, but I just liked the feel of the 704s more. I would definately recommend these irons, but would suggest testing them along side the RAC LT.

Customer Service

Haven't had to deal with Titleist customer service, but they did have the clubs made and in my hands in just a shade over a week. I bought the clubs at Don Sherwood's Golf and Tennis in Santa Clara, and their service is always top notch.

Absolutely the best irons I've played, period. It took no time for me to adjust to them. From the first shot on, I knew they were right for me.These will stay in my bag. BTW, I shot 6 over, on a tuff course today, using them for the first time.Well worth the money.

Customer Service

They were custom made in 1 week. All the specs were spot on.

A very good club for the mid to low handicapper. These clubs are a big improvement on their previous offering 762, but are still a combo of players club with a fair amount of game improvement thrown in. They are not a true blade, and if a traditional blade is what you want the 690 series is more for you. The 704 is forged from stainless so is not quite as soft as mild carbon steel but still has a forged feel. Very precise and workable for a cavity back. In my opinion these clubs give all the performance advantages and feel of a true blade, but still provide forgiveness for off centre shots. They feel and perform very similarly to the Mizuno MX20's I recently upgraded to after trialling numerous clubs. The main difference I found was that the 704 have too much offset. The MX20's have no offset and a slightly softer feel and came with a better shaft for my swing (Nippon stiff 95gram), making them a slightly better fit for me, but that's just for me. The Mizunos were also $60 a club cheaper. I know several low markers who have gone from Callaway, TM etc to these and rave about them. The only real criticism I have is the usual issue with titleist equipment, they are overpriced for what you get. If money isn't an issue I think the 704 are the second best clubs on the market and a perfect choice for stronger players who love the performance of a blade but don't have the time to hit 1,000 balls a week.

Customer Service

Don't know as I've never been able to part with the brass to pay the exhorbitant prices titleist charge.

tried several clubs blades to shallow cavity min offset.mp30 was looking as a possible purchase.that is untill i tried the 704cb.what a club, high trajectory comes in soft and stops dead, even with mid irons.two clubs longer than my previous clubs.on a previous round i hit to my amasement 227 yard carry with a 5 iron.ok a following wind helped.usally my second shot to this hole is a 3 iron.nice soft feel.i have a swing speed of 98 mph so s300 shafts were dead right.off centre hits dont lose much distance.slight draw can cause problems when you want the ball to stop.full cord gripps are spot on.dont use the clip on type face savers this marks the hosel.but do use face savers as these clubs are very soft.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 704.cb irons

In an attempt to become a single digit handicapper, I have been on a 9 month search for irons that best suite my game. Rather than limit myself to any particular brand or style, I kept an open mind as I tried club after club. Until 4 weeks ago, the Mizuno MP-30's and the Cleveland TA7's led the way. Although these clubs have different strenghts (the forging of the Mizuno and the slight offset of the Clevelands), I found that each complimented my game about the same. Either of the clubs would help me reach the next level if my swing remained solid. Fortunately, however, I have had the opportunity to use the new 704.cb's over the past few weeks, and the results have been wonderful. Before I go on, it is important to note that these clubs, like any other, require a good swing to work. That being said, a good swing is rewarded by a crisp sound, a consistent ball flight, above average distance, and a nice forged feel. Like the previous reviewer, I too have experienced a slight draw on the ball that I will have to either play or correct to see my scores improve. If there is one word to describe the feeling that results from my use of these irons it is "confidence." Each set that I have used ( Hogan CFT, Nike Blades, Nike Slingshot, Cleveland TA5 and TA7, Maxfli A10, MacGregor 1025cm, Mizuno MP 30) has produced positive results, but I found myself making swing adjustments to match each club. Fortunately, it appears that Titleist has produced a club that combines the best attributes of the available clubs on the market without compromising its reputation as a manufacturer for serious players. I highly recommend these irons to golfers who want to play "players" irons, but have not reached the level that results in a "near perfect" swing every time. "Scratch" players would probably benefit as well with a switch to the 704.cb's.

I purchased these irons after 3 years playing Cleveland TA7's. I made the change because I wanted to improve. I felt that to continue playing an os head and offset I would not really be improving my game but quite possibly enhancing an average one. I am still getting used to these irons as I have had a problem hooking the ball in the shorter irons 6-pw. What I have found is that my aim was so bad because I had been band-aiding a problem with my TA7's and didn't realize it until I got the 704's. These clubs will make you focus on all aspects of your swing but I have not found them difficult to hit at all, even on miss hits the distance is still good. If anything I am striking the ball more solidly with a truer ball flight than with the TA7's. I would reccomend that you get properly fit if you are considering these or any other irons. When I was fit I was asked if I had been fit for my TA7's because I am 2degrees upright and my TA7's are standard. This also may have something to do with hooking the ball now because the toe is no longer hitting the ground but rather the center of the sole. The feel is awesome, most reviews I've read on this site everyone talks about the feel of forged irons, it's true. The look is very nice as well, they have a darker finish to them, (I guess because they're forged stainless). Also, the 704's have stronger lofts than a lot of iron sets in this catagory. The TA7's are 2 degrees per club delofted but I have noticed zero loss in yardage iron to iron. I do have a higher ball flight which lands much softer on the greens. Overall I know that with more time on the range these clubs will ultimately deliver what I bought them for, to improve and become a very good ball striker.

I highly recommend these irons. I switched from cast irons about two months ago and also upgraded from regular to S300 shafts. I was pretty good with my irons before, but I feel a lot more confident with these. The forged feel is something to behold as I can feel when I've hit it perfectly. I believe the improvement I have seen in my iron play is a combination of the head and the shaft on these irons. I tend to hit these high and I like that. My shots are actually higher and longer than before and drop with a soft touch. Again, not sure if that is more due to the shaft or the head. One word of warning if you are going to a forged head. I put a big gouge in my 7 iron hitting from the base of a tree. There must have been a rock under the ball. Sad about it, but the club still plays just fine. If you have a good swing grooved, then you will be happy with these irons. I can draw and fade this club as needed. If you don't have a proper swing and are not looking to improve it, get something more forgiving like the 804's.

Customer Service

Excellent. I ordered these clubs after talking with the rep at Titleist. I wanted them within a week at 1 over and 1 up, he had them to me in 3 days. Awesome service.

After playing Titleist 981s for about 4 years, I made a mistake and went to demo days this spring. I hit the 704CBs on the range and fell in love. A few weeks later I finally broke down and purchased a set. These are an absolutly beautiful set of irons and they feel wonderful, but unfortuantly they did not fit my game. From the beginning I fought a high hook. I could almost feel the toe tring to shut through impact. I fought the hook a few months assuming it was me and not the club. After a particularly bad round I headed to the range with my 704s, 690cb and 762s. I could consistantly hit the 690s and 762s straight, where I would hit an awsome hook with the 704s, about 1 out of 10 shots. I also hit the ball too high with the 704s and could not keep the ball down when I needed to. I decided to go with the 762s, since I hit them as well as the 690s, but the were a lot cheaper. 1st round out with the 762s I shot a 71, so I think I made the right decision. The 704s are probably wonderful clubs, but they just don't fit my swing.

Never needed to use.
