These are a great set of sticks. No magic in them, just very reliable. After playing Titleist 690mb's for a couple years, I switched to an oversized set of irons with offset to gain a little more forgiveness and confidence. Although easier to hit, I didn't like the transition of the game-improvement irons with offset to my sand and lob wedge with no offset. I also noticed significant distance loss with the oversized, bottom-heavy irons and no positive change in my scoring. It wasn't until a recent vacation to Colorado that I decided I was going back to a player's iron. My friend in CO, also a lefty, let me borrow his older set of Mizuno irons. It felt good to hit forged irons again with little offset and the transition to my wedges felt very comfortable. Plus, I immediately regianed my typical distance for each iron. I shopped around and ended up going with the Titleist 690cb's. They are slightly more forgiving than the MB model but allow for the same fantastic playabilty. Distance and control is excellent and the feel is brilliant. Classic, Titleist looks and a slightly wider topline and sole compared to the MB blades. My set is custom fitted. Anybody playing a smaller sized iron should be properly fitted. Like I said earlier, no magic in these sticks. They put out what you put in. A very solid, good looking set of irons that should satisfy anyone serious about the game and their equipment. On the downside, they're freaking expensive! Too expensive in my opinion. I'm giving these a value rating of 4 because I think the cost is over the top. I've played equally well in the past with lesser costing irons. However, I had to have the Titleists! Sigh.......my poor bank account. Customer Service Not the best in this department. I called/emailed several times about getting my clubs serviced. They told me to contact my local Titleist dealer to arrange for the work and shipping to the factory. Several dealers in my area insisted on doing the work themselves and bypassing the Titleist factory completely. When I reported my frustration to Titleist, I never heard back from them. Titleist could learn a few things from Callaway's customer service, the best in my opinion. Similar Products Used: Titleist 690mb and several Callaway models. |

Before I acquired these clubs I had played game improvement irons. I had gone along with the logic that I shouldn't play a more blade like iron because I wasn't good enough yet. How flawed that was.

I've had my irons for about 6 months. These are great clubs if you are a consistent player. I was concerned about a previous review where it was said that the sweet spot is about 1/2" from the inside of the heel. The average golf ball is 1.5" in diameter so 1/2" is probably an exaggeration. In saying that I played an 8 iron shot into a par 4 the other day and the contact was just sweet. Sure enough, I looked down at the grooves to see that some dirt from impact was about 1&1/4" from the inside of the heel. In saying that I panicked and immediately enquired about a new set of 735CM's which have weight removed from the heel and repositioned towards the centre of the club to make them more forgiving. Unfortunately after spending 900euro for my 690CB's, I was told by the store where I bought them that I would only get 450euro. Extortion. So I have decided that if the sweetspot is closer to the heel, so be it. It just means I have to work harder. Looks - There is nothing finer out there. 6 Months on, they still look brand new. Durability - Second to none. No sign as yet of the chrome plating startint to wear. Cost - Probably a bit less now that the 735's are available. If you are a good player buy these because you will get a good deal. But if you need a bit more forgiveness and are willing to pay similar money or more, get the 735CM's. You will get an equally fantastic looking set of irons, but with peace of mind that these can help you a bit more on your off days. As mentioned, I've played quite well since I got these (custom fitted), and I have had a few shanks, but that means that I'm not far from the zone. Hope this is of some benefit to you lesser mortals like myself. Just an update on Titleist's customer service. The Titleist Singapore team has viewed my comments on the dicrepancies in the club shaft lengths and grips, and have offered a brand new set in exchange for it. I am very impressed by the speed and efficiency of the Titleist Customer Service department. Goes to show it always pay to buy from recognized sources. |

Have played these clubs for about 3months now and have gotten really used to them. Fitted with NSPro shafts, the ball really soars! Had major problems with the lie angles though, but a couple of fitting sessions sort that out. Do note that the sweet spot for Titleist irons are NOT out of the middle, but about a half inch away from the heel. When I first got them, flush hits didn't feel all that great, until the clubfitter told me this, and ithas made a world of difference! Flush hits go further than ever, feels heavenly, and totally effortless. Customer Service Sucks. The shaft lengths of my 6, 7, 8 irons are not progressive. There are 3(3! would you believe that?!) different grip size throughout the set. I'm going to re-shaft the clubs anyway. Similar Products Used: Taylormade RAC combo (beauties! regret selling them!) |

I just received my new custom fitted (by my Titleist Pro) 690.CB's. I have not played a round with these yet but have several day's range experience with them, so will revisit with another follow-up review down the road. Rather than write a "warm fuzzy" review about how much I love my 690.CB's (and I DO!) I think it would help more to give you my objective thoughts, if that's possible. Pro's: Beautiful clubs (life is too short to play with ugly clubs.) View at address is very confidence in- spiring. The feel when properly hit is incom- parable. Well regulated loft angles for pre- dictable shot distances. Relatively high trajectory so you can "stick" them (predictable distances). Hey, they're Titleists! Cons: Huh?! Well maybe the cost ($825 custom fitted with DG R300 shafts). Cons: Need to be fitted. Relatively expensive. Customer Service Only took 8 days for clubs to arrive. I have not had to use customer service yet. Bought these clubs after playing 6 years on and off using Hogan oversized HD40's. I noticed an immediate difference in the feel when using these 690cb's. True to what others have said, these clubs feel like butter when hit well, and let you pay the price for unclean ball contact outside of the sweet spot. I played with them for about 10 rounds before shooting the round of my life - a 4 over par 76 and a relatively challenging course. My normal score is about 85, and since getting these clubs it's not like I shoot constantly in the 70's.... What I want to point out is that for that one round I was able to really find the "groove" using these irons. Great feel, great response, and nice weight to them. In conclusion, if you are going from oversized or offset irons to these, be very prepared for alot of initial problems and adjustments to make. But I'm sure I'll grow into these clubs and overall I'm very pleased with what I got. Customer Service None Similar Products Used: Titleist 762's (borrowed from friend) |

Awesome sticks period. IMHO, it is is extremely important you get fit for these clubs, as that made a huge difference in feel from my perspective. The set I have was bent 3 degrees flat and prior to that, the forged "butter" feeling was good, but now that they are fit properly for lie, I get that feeling upon impact 98% of the time. Some of the reviews I read stated the clubs hit like bricks, but I truly believe this is due to improper lie angles and perhaps lack of fitting. I have played pretty much everything out there and this set does it all - except better than anything else I have tried. Shot accuracy is really tight. The weighting is perfect, and the short-mid irons are lasers. Distance is repeatable and mis-hits are penalized slightly, but that why it's deemed a miss hit. The sole design is a little thicker than the 690MB, but nothing drastic. This would be my one suggestion regarding design going forward, but it will be really hard to improve upon what Titleist has done regarding this set. If you are fit properly, and prefer a smaller clubhead to work the ball with, these are the irons for you. Look on eBay for a good used set and you won't be disappointed. Customer Service Never used - Titleist quality is outstanding. Similar Products Used: 704CB, 690MB, 762, 990, 981, 731PM, TA-3, I3+, I3 - etc etc etc.... |

Have only hit these into an indoor net, so I cannot really comment on performance other than that they feel nice and weighty and well balanced. Other reviewers have commented that they feel too hard for a forged club(even when hit on the sweetspot) and I totally agree. They almost don't even feel forged. They look great, and when I was shopping for a new set of irons I really was hoping I'd like these. Hit most all the forged clubs out at that time. Thought the Mizuno's felt great, but with the exception of the MX-23, I thought their sweetspot was way too small for my game(about the size of a quarter). It ended up being a choice between the Hogan Edge Pros and the Precept Tour Premiums--I chose the Tour Premiums and feel lucky since they're now discontinued--love 'em. Turbo Power X-6
I bought these last january hoping to get some technology and forgiveness and little did I know I was getting something much better. I bought my clubs and golfclubsandmore.com for 160.00 including swing weited frequency matched and spign alligned. I shot a 79 this year and the most amazing thing was that I managed to gain 6-8 strokes on average. These are good clubs and Turbo power are legal in all aspects making it one of the best heads out there. I managed to get more distance and accuracy plus forgiveness which is what saved me strokes. Beofre I bought these I was shooting about 89-88 with the few 90 type scores. last Season I was around 80-82 with a few in the mid 80's and that is a huge difference for me. I do find however that the distance varience between the 3-5 iron is similar. Customer Service Golfclubsandmore.com is really good to work. The first game I played I could not get the ball up in the air at all while on the driving range I would hit everything perfect they told me it wasn't the clubs and that you may have to adjust your swing a little compared to my fila. Before I had to hit down on the ball. After a small adjustment I was hitting the ball high and straight and on mis-hits I wa getting some distance which really helped. with my fila I may have gotten 5 yards with turbo power I get around 90 yards and that is huge as I am just the average golfer. Similar Products Used: I have hit the real Callaway X-16 which these are a copy of as a matter of fact I have a X-14 pro series lobwedge. I can't tell the difference except that you get more distance with turbo power. Compared to fila on my I got about 20-40 yards more per club. Same with tommy armour etc etc. these are good clubs and if I wanted too I could use them in qualifying school and on the PGA Tour if I wanted too |
