I bought these 681's from Ebay and I love the way they look, feel and set up...BUT when I first tried them at the range, I could not get a ball in the middle of the face! Hosel rockets, toed shots, the whole - kept practicing with them but used my DCI 962's on the course - took about 3 months but my ball striking has improved unbelievably!! I have more shots in the bag them before - with these clubs I can hit a high fade, high draw, low runners, high lobbers, all of it - I recently took them out to the course for the first time and shot an 84 at a course with a 143 slope - I have truly improved with these clubs which was the whole point of getting them - my swing is pure and I can work the ball which I never was able to before - right pin placement? high fade - left pin placement? draw it in - when the situation calls for a certain shot, I can shape it and I will continue to get better as I improve at working the ball and getting it to hit and release towards the hole on my approach shots - glad I bought them but they will take some getting used to - if you are truly committed to improving your swing and actually getting better, buy 'em and grove your swing - good luck

These are the sweetest irons that I have ever been blessed to play. Sweet as melted butter.

I suffered a shoulder injury and had resorted to shovels while I recovered, playing with graphite for over 16 months.

I can appreciate that shovels help out a great many golfers and are true blessings for player's seeking forgiveness (isn't that what a priest is for???) however, I had totally lost my swing playing Ping's.

A quality product but the offset and size of them did not work for me.

So...

I was in Golftown and one of the guys who knows me said; "I got something you really need to see and I bet you'll walk away with them". Showed me a used set of 681's with almost no wear to them.

Bought them that day, By the 3rd hit they were grooved and what a look at address. Eyeeeeeeee chihuahua!!!!

My swing was back, I was no longer getting dizzy standing over the ball looking at that much offset.

Noteworthy of mention is that Titleist put oil soaked dowels in these irons down at the hosel (vibration etc...)

These irons are the best blades that I have ever played... period.

What else can you say. Great penetrating ball flight, great distance ( no loss in comparison to any other club that I have tried), maybe 5 yards further for me.

8 iron carries 153 constant.

A great set of irons.

Keeping in mind that they are forged, I would highly encourage you to wet clean them after every hit. They are very soft and if you do not want the faces to look like land mine hit 'em, wet your towel before going out and keep them pristine.

You may wonder what someone who plays in the 90's is doing playing these beautiful clubs. I wanted to hone my ball striking ability. These clubs are perfect for that. I had played some 1971 Wilson Staff Dyna-Powered Fluid Feel muscle-backs, which I liked very much, but the grooves were worn. Time for a change. So I got on here to read muscle-back reviews and came across these. Got on ebay bid and bid on some 670's just for fun, but when I saw these I jumped. I got them for $381 on Ebay. These clubs are beautiful. If you cannot hit down on your clubs, don't try these! You'll hate them and yourself. I ended up honing my ability and started breaking into the 80's. Was playing in the high 90's, now playing in the low 90's & sometimes breaking into the 80's. If I hit these bad, I know whose doing it. Me and not the club. If you like hitting down to impart backspin: these are for you! If you can find them they're very rare! Get them. You'll kick yourself if you don't.

I have been playing this set for four seasons. I bought them on ebay practically brand new for $350. Had them bent a bit flatter. I got my first hole in one with them! They have tremendous feed back in feel and sound. They are the most accurate irons I have ever played. I had a problem pulling my shots with cavity backs( to much off set) almost no off set with the 681's. These are pure as pure can be. If you can consistantly hit the center of the club face you will absolutely love these irons. My only complaint is I wish they had a bit more bounce through out the set, but I can deal with it.

In January, I broke down and finally replaced my 21-year-old Wilson Staff blades with a set of Titleist 681s. I found a brand new set on ebay and was thrilled when they arrived and matched my Wilsons in swing weight and toe profile. It is difficult now to find clubs without all the weight down low. Immediately, my golf game improved with the new sticks. I actually could spin a ball now that I was using a clubs with grooves on them! After playing the 681s for about five months, I injured my back and filed for divorce and was forced to sell them for the money to a buddy that had fallen in love with the way they felt and their accuracy. I looked in vain for a cavity back that I could bear to look down on and couldn't find anything I liked. Well, my back problem was recently repaired and my old Wilsons are back in the bag -- for now. I am on a quest to replce my Titleist 681s ASAP. They are simply the Rolls Royce of golf clubs. Flawless and beautiful. I miss them more than my wife.

I purchased these irons in 2001 and played them for several months. Folks would look in my bag and admire them but also commented about the fact that they were "player's blades". So eventually I convinced myself that I wasn't good enough to play them. Well, three years and six iron sets later, they are in my bag to stay. Perimeter weighted cavity backs are for folks with handicap of 10 or more. I hit them about 1/2 club shorter but that is because of the loft. The increase in accuracy is much more important than distance with irons. Who cares how far you hit a seven iron, is it near the pin ? These irons allow you to play shots, not just bang away at your irons. They are exceptionally solid even on mis-hits (sounds like a commercial for cavity backs). Do yourself a favor and get a set of these on E-Bay or wherever.

Very pleased with these irons,they are truly best of the best.Played the 690 mb for a while, also a great club, but I hit the ball too high with them.The 681's are perfect,before each iron shot you have the confidense knowing you have a well built solid piece of metal to rip the ball and take some earth without hesitation.Serious golfers know exactly what I'm talking about.You cannot feel that on a cavity back....mis hits won't give you any feedback...the 681's tell you what you did wrong.Also you have to hit down on the mid to short irons to get anything out of these....if you sweep your irons do not buy these,but if hit down you will find golf utopia.

these are the first muscle back blades that i have owned and when i finaly descided to buy them i was deffenitly glad that i did. Absolutly awesome feel and of course pin point accuracy with the ability to work left to right with ease. Also the narrow soles allow you to put tons of spin on the ball. Clean classic lines with a prety good shape to them when standing over the top.

These are the best irons that I have ever used. Unbelievable accuracy! I love everything about them. The shafts which are Dynamic Gold S-300 seem to be a better quality than in other sets. The titleist full cord grips are my favorite. I get good yardage out them too. If you are looking to take your game to the next level, these are the clubs you should own. And they look just gorgeous. Long irons are a little tougher to hit though.
