Model Reviewed: Taylormade TP Combo

These older Taylormade TP combo irons are better than newer models, including New Black MBs. Long irons are generally forgiving and short irons feel SOLID and crisp.05 TP cb used to be my favourite but they are not as workable nor solid as these. I might prefer these over my other favourite, TP cb forged in Japan but I've lost my P on this. Excellent set of irons for better ball striker but it is WAY easier to hit than TP MBs. Still readily available second hand and it is worth every penny, whatever the price you pay. Highly recomended. One of the best irons ever made by any company for any decent ball striker. I've had two dozen different sets in the past five years.

I have used in the past mp37, mp30, callaway x12 and Nike Slingshot. This set has some positives and some negatives...It does not feel as good as the Mizuno MP37(best feel by far) and mp30 but what is best about this is that it is a combo. For me long irons feel superb and forgiving. With the short irons they are very control-friendly(especially controlling the distance). While they are not the best feel forged irons on the market, they are super-forgiving eventhough the sole is very slim. Lastly at address the topline gives you great amount of confidence.
Would suit a consistent ball striker of a handicap below 15.

I HAVE PLAYED QUITE A FEW SETS OF IRONS IN MY LIFE UNTIL I PLAYED THE TAYLORMADE RAC TP COMBO IRONS. I NOW PLAY THEM EXCLUSIVELY. THEY WITHOUT A DOUBT HAVE THE BEST FEEL OF ANY CLUB ON THE MARKET. THEY ARE VERY SOLID AND YET VERY SOFT. THE SHORT IRONS HAVE EXCELLENT DISTANCE CONTROL AND PROVIDE THAT EXTRA FEEL TO ALLOW YOU TO GET THE BALL CLOSE TO THE HOLE FROM AROUND THE GREENS WHICH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN SHOOTING GOOD SCORES. ALSO FROM THE PW TO THE 3 IRON THE DISTANCES AND TRAJECTORYS ARE VERY CONSISTANT SO WHAT MORE COULD YOU POSSIBLY WANT FROM A SET OF IRONS?

MY CLUBS WERE ORDERED THROUGH THE CUSTOM CLUBS DEPT AND THE CLUBS WERE AT MY HOUSE WITHIN 5 DAYS OF ORDER. WHAT MORE CAN I SAY?

Model Reviewed: TaylorMade MB/CB Combo Irons

Theese Irons are the best Taylormade irons i found for the money. The long irons (CB) are very workable and have a soft, buttery feel. The short irons (MB) are very crisp, But not as forgiving feel. You should get theese irons if you have a low handicap and are looking for a great feeling, workable iron set.
make sure you get larger, more forgiving irons if you have a hard time hitting the ball. I am now a 6 handicap, with my old irons i was an 10! but theese irons will not seriously improve your game if you are not less than a 10 handicap. if you are go for 'em, i promise, theyer great.

Switched from Cleveland CG3 irons to these. And my only set before that was the Wilson Staff FG 17 Series Tour Blade. I am a TaylorMade convert. Found these blade style irons to have great feel and playability along with very nice appearance and setup. Have been tempted to "move up" to the successors of the combo series (RAC TP Forged and the current RAC TP MB) but between price and actually being content with the combos, I've held off.

I'm in the minority in that for some reason, I'm not a fan of the 48* tear drop shaped pitching wedge in the set ( I like the looks but not the performance) and I actually like to hit the long irons. Clubs are more forgiving than you'd think and they do hold their value well.

nice looking clubs. awesome actually. got a really good deal on them online. played one season with them and went back to my old hogan apex blades. probaly got about 5-7 more yards per club out of the taylormades but they just dont have that elusive "feel" of a true forged blade. the muscle back irons p-7 were much easier to hit for me and more forgiving than the cavity back 3-6 iron. in the end i avoided hitting the longer clubs at all costs. off center shots produced horrific results. had i got an entire set of the muscle backs i probably would have enjoyed them more but in the end they would have disappearred from the bag. i think everything about the club was very positive ...i.e. looks, address view, head size and shape....the supposed "coin forging " process used for these clubs left me feeling even when i caught the sweetspot the club felt thin and for lack of a better word "cheap". the bottom line.... if your looking for game improvement clubs you could do alot better. if your looking for a set of blades, get a set of BLADES cus' you could do a little better. overall a fine club uyn its own right...just not for me. the good news is that they hold their value pretty good.

Model Reviewed: RAC MBCB Combo

I'm pretty sure these irons are aka. TP Combos. Along with these clubs, I tried about 10 different irons at 2nd Swing, including Nike Pro Combo, Armour EVO, Titleist XL 2000, Hogan Apex Plus, and others. For some odd reason I started with the 3 irons and hands down, bar none, this 3 IRON hit 'like butter'. The Apex Plus's were second best. At $675, however the RAC's were a little to much. Where I live we have Play it Again Sports, too. Have 3 days to try the used irons. I tried Titleist, 990's, 762's and 704.cb's along with Ping i3+ blade and the Maxfli A-10's. Out of these clubs the 762's just edged out the Pings and 704.cbs. I thought it was important to hit clubs on the range versus into the net, however, I couldn't get the Rac 3 IRON out of my head and won a NEW set on Ebay for $450. The day I got these irons I played 36 holes with them and they played on course the same as they felt into the net. Again, the 3 IRON is the most incredible club I've ever hit, it's like b-u-t-t-a-h, and was on target every time. The first time (on the second hole) I hit one of these clubs was a 200-220 yard blind, downhill 5 iron. I found the ball on the green about 30 feet from the flag and sunk the putt for birdie-Great start, eh? Out of the 36 holes I only mis-hit the 6 iron badly (approach to par-five; a little over anxious, I guess) once. Right after the birdie, however, I hit the 7 iron into a two club wind from 162 and it was awful (pull hook 30 yards left). The short irons, so far feel pretty much like the rest of my irons. I do like the slightly oversized 48 degree PW. It felt very good on a number of shots. After this experience, I think (despite being a 10 hdcp.) that I wish I had the opportunity to try these clubs in the all CB versions. If you're on the boardline here think about it.

These irons are great! I've never really been a huge Taylor Made fan, but these irons have changed my opinion. I hit them at a golf shop in one of those nets and i fell in love with them. You would think they are hard to hit, but they are actually very forgiving, and i was surprised how easy the 3 and 4 irons were to hit. The first time I took them out on the course, I shot a 76. THE FIRST TIME!!! Trust me these irons arent just for really good golfers. I am only 13 and I've been golfing for about 1 year, and i purchased these irons about 3 months ago, and i went from a 10 handi cap to about a 7-8. They are really great irons.

Excellent Irons, the feel is superb and the wedge is excellent. Now finally getting real spin back from the wedge. Only been playing for 2 years (late starter) and switched to these from Taylormade 200's. Excellent choice, even hitting the 3 and 4 irons - never could with the 200's. 7 - 9 MB's are a dream to hit and the feel is as I say superb. Heads are a lot smaller than the 200's and find these actually gives me a lot more confidence - You wont get away with bad shots and that's no bad thing cos with practice and lessons if needed you will improve your overall shot making with these irons. Would reccomend these to anybody who is serious about improving there shotmaking and plays regular - If you have a good swing plane you will get a lot from these irons. They have already made a big difference to my game. You dont need to be a low handicapper to use these, I would say anybody upto 15 handicapper would do well with these. Highly reccomend you try these - a Taylormade triumph!!
