Snake Eyes FC-01 Irons

Snake Eyes FC-01 Irons

DESCRIPTION

This is the largest and deepest cavity-back iron head in the Snake Eyes family. The unique weight reduction cut feature removes needless weight to further enhance playability while the 300mm leading edge radius is slighly less curved than most cavity- back irons to aid in target alignment. Transitional face thickness construction complements center of gravity location and U-groove scorelines provide maximum spin control throughout the set. Available in both 431 satin polish and 17-4 stainless black gunmetal finishes. This stylish design features a laser cut aluminum Snake Eyes medallion for a professional touch. .370" parallel hosel requires ferrule. The interior cavity cut on Nos. 2-6 removes needless weight off the top toe area to enhance center of gravity location. The larger cut in Nos. 7-LW moves to the center of the sole, decreasing weight at the bottom

I purchased this set of Snake Eyes FC-01 irons thru a custom club maker on Ebay. I traditionally shoot 85-95, depending on the day. these set of irons are unreal, i went with the black gunmetal finish, and besides looking amazing they have a great feel to them. they are easy to line up at address, and are amazingly forgiving on mis-hits. i have them with rifle precision 5.5's, D2 swingweights, and winn XF midsize weather grips. these clubs were custom fit to me and i am now consistantly shooting in the low 80's, on occasion breaking 80. if you can get a set of these custom fit for around $300, it is money well spent. i would recommend these irons to anybody. fantastic club

I also had the rusting problem. Even wiping with wd-40 doesn't completely get the rust off. The store in Plano, TX exchanged for the polished heads with no problem. They play excellent for me. Very workable either direction. Very accurate short irons. However, for a higher handicap (90-100) I would recommend the dc-01 head for more forgivness, and help getting the ball up in the air. A friend of mine that started playing last summer tried hitting my fc's, and he had much better results going with the dc-01.

clubs feel and play well but rusting is terrible. Another reviewer mentioned a similar problem, but when I called golfsmith they told me it was normal and to wipe my clubs with WD-40. If I chose SS model I think I would have been very satisfied.

These CB irons fall somewhere between players and game improvement irons. They are very slightly oversize, have minimal offset, nice clean top lines even in the shorter clubs. They are cast from a fairly soft stainless steel, so they work nicely with steel shafts. They are clean and elegant looking. I did have to ream out two of the hosels to fit the shafts properly. They should be enjoyed by most handicap levels. They are workable yet forgiving. ?xD;?xA;?xD;?xA;I built these clubs for my wife who is a good ball striker. I spent about 3 months going through differnt shafts, on the range, course and with a few fancy machines. My selection came down to 4 different shatfts, Dynalite gold, TT lite XL, Penley's Stealth irons A flex and MCC 30+ in A3 Flex (Apache). All very nice quality shafts. The MCC 30+ won out. They worked for her tempo and ball flight was perfect. I also had the lie bent 2 deg.flat, both length and weight where set for her. The advantages of fitted clubs are many and she's very happy with them (irons).

This was my first set of clubs and I have really enjoyed using them. Most of my comments are the same as the other writer's so I will only post my complaint or caveat: My clubs rusted too easily. I live in Iowa, which can get pretty brutal and humid, but these clubs still shouldn't have begun rusting so easily. Little spots appeared around the club face, especially where any mud or dirt clods were from that round. After each round I would dillegently wipe them off and then wash them after every 2-3 rounds, so the dirt wasn't staying on them. Regardless, spots appeared and I wanted the affected clubs replaced (all but my 5I). So I sent them in, got them replaced, and propmtly watched them rust even quicker - despite being even better about cleaning my clubs and giving them a WD-40 bath (as reccomended by golfsmith) each time. I finally replaced them with the chrome heads, mostly because Golfsmith believes the gunmetal treating process allows this to happen, should the protective coating be removed. Long story short, perhaps it's something with the soil up here that make for great corn but eats through finishes. I may have just been extremely unlucky and got two bad batches. Or, maybe I should have not picked the gunmetal for appearnces only. One other thing to think about, I am definitely a beginner and I do chili dip and "excavate" some dirt on frequent occurance, which could speed up this process. Get the chrome ones unless you live where I grew up - the desert.

Customer Service

Great service, all replacements were free, except for shipping. However, the first time I had them replaced they became lost in the golfsmith building and it took over 4 weeks to get them back, at prime season. Yuck. The second time it took 3.5 weeks but I didn't mind since the season ends quickly here.

Got these heads on my 4-PW. Also got the Snake Eyes Forged Gunmetal Wedges as well. I had the clubs out for the first time yesterday and loved them. My iron shots were very sweet. I'm not a strong long iron player, but I hit some of my best 4 and 5 iron shots. A couple times, I was 225 to 250 out from the green, took out the 4 iron and thought, I'll never reach. Well, I didn't, but I got within 30 yards each time. What a pure feeling and the trajectory was amazing. Felt like butter when I hit the sweetspot. Gunmetal finish is really cool and a nice change of pace from the normal chrome / silver heads. Look great in the bag. I highly recommend these irons. They have a nice thin topline and set up really easily but have cavity backs for forgiveness. Give them a try, you won't be sorry.

Customer Service

Very good. Heads were put on and ready two days before the scheduled date.

These clubs are terrific. I got them with dynamic gold shafts and player softie grips with the gunmetal finish. I got them with a swing weight of D2. At first they seemed heavy but that may be because it is the first time I have used steel shafts. It took me about 2 rounds to get used to, but now I am hitting them great. The par 3's just got a whole lot easier. My iron play from 100 yard and up has never been this good. I can't wait until I figure out the distance with half swings and the sand wedge. I highly recommend these clubs to anybody looking for a solid set of irons.

Customer Service

Terrific. Rich at divotmasters did a terrific job and I will recommend him to all my friends. He was even better priced than my local clubmaker.

Snake Eyes FC-01 are great clubs. I can’t say enough about how the clubs preformed for me. I normally shoot in the low 80s but my first round with the FC-01 clubs I shot 77. I know that one of the reasons for the improvement was the ball trajectory. On thin hits the ball still gets airborne and carried the proper distance. On fat shots the leading edge didn’t dig into the turf as much as my Wilson Staff Goosenecks. Overall Distance +5 yards more than my other clubs, even though my old clubs are ¼” longer. Average pw Wilson Staff 110 yards FC-01 115 yards. Feedback was not very good, but after only one round of golf I can’t make a true analysis. The set up and look of the FC-01 is as square and easy to gage as my Wilsons. Working shots R to L, L to R without much effort. My shafts are Dynamic Gold S300 +3/4”. Swing weight = d3. Overall weight? Grip = Golf Pride tour Velvet. I also chose the gunmetal heads 4-pw. Great club.

Hey I get to be the first one to post a review of these irons. They are great! They look good, they perform well and are long. I matched them with a set of True Temper tri-gold shafts and Lampkin cord grips. They are forgiving, but are game improvement and you can feel a good shot. I am able to work them with a slight draw or fade but mostly just hit them straight and long. I''''ll be keeping these irons for a long time. If your looking for a good middle of the road priced set of clubs, these are first rate. Well worth the money. Golfsmith you''''ve got a winner here!
