Bought my I3+ clubs in 2003; 1 inch longer and white dot. Never had such performing clubs, its really a joy to hit the ball every time. Yes there are longer clubs now, including Ping Raptures besides othr brands, but these are totally in control in my game and miss hits are really really on the players side.
Its been 5 -6 years now since i bought them and have been at golfs smith buying new putters, Drivers and even 56 and 60 degrees wedges . but form 4 to S i will stick to my I3 for some more time.

I bought these clubs about three weeks ago and like them very much. Have played four rounds with them and playing the best I have ever played.
Maybe some of it is in my head because I feel I have the best money can buy. I have been playing almost two years and am on my fourth set of irons. I think these will be my last. Played 85 today and missed a lot of makeable puts. Would recomend these irons to anyone. I'm not good enough to work the ball but these will hit where you aim and thats all I want.

I have been playing golf for more than 50 years. From age 8 to 25 I bought bargain basement irons from golf catalogs. Not very good, but functional. I bought my first good set of irons, Hogan Apex blades, (a whole month's salary), when I was 25. Fifteen years later I bought a set of Hogan Edges. I bought Ping i3+ irons three years ago, and played them periodically until this year because the Hogan Edges were so good. The i3+ irons have grown on me and have proven to be a forgiving iron with a solid feel. I now play the i3+ irons in the spring, summer and fall, but the Hogans come out over the winter. The i3+ irons are sold clubs that I would recommend to anyone, regardless of the level of play.

I bought these clubs new in 2003. I traded in a set of Ping ISIs. I should have kept my old Ping irons and paid full-price for the new set. Anyway, I have loved these clubs for years. As my skills have developed, these clubs have been helpful to me. As I learned to work ball, I have learned that it is more about the ball than whether one uses blades or cavity back irons. If you cannot work the ball with these clubs, experiment with a different golf ball. I am very happy with how far I hit the ball. I have tried larger game improvement clubs, but still prefer these. My irons still look like new.

I had a 4 iron reshafted by Ping. I was very happy to get it back with the shaft and grip matching the original set. Was a little disappointed that Ping did not bother to clean the grooves for me. I don't think it would have taken much time? I once called and asked a Ping representative if I could buy touch up paint for my Ping G2 driver. I won't do that again, they apparently don't like such questions. Overall, I think they give you what you pay for. Just nothing extra.

I bought a set to replace a set of Ping ISI Becu irons with 5.5 rifle shafts. I really like the increased weight as I found the ISI's quite light at c8. The i3s have reg. shafts and I find I'm at least 10 yds longer and more accurate.

I picked up this set as a special treat for the new year, and I could not be happier. I have never hit my irons a straight as I do with these. I got the silver dot with the cs-lite shafts w/cushin. And they feel smooth as butter. Alot of people commenting here speak of loss of distance, and they do have a higher degree of loft than my Big Berthas, but the distance is nominal. The direction makes up for them 3 fold.

I have swung these in the past and always seemed to hit them high and straight. They also inspire confidence at address as well, as they square up beautifully. I bought them from an ebay vendor for $329 with free shipping. They were listed as mint condition, but arrived brand new with the stickers. It was an impulse buy, as the price was too good to pass up. I doubt Ping would be happy at that pricing, as they still sell these new. It didn't bother me, though.

Well, needless to say, I should have tried before I buyed, so to speak. I opted for the CS Lite shafts with Cushion inserts, which were really my only choice. The clubs I hit before had the heavier JZ shaft and might have been a little longer. Shaft weight is supposed to be 109 grams, plus whatever the insert weighs. I wanted them as heavy as possible. Unfortunately, the swingweight feels like a ladies iron. They are so light, that I really never know where the clubhead is and I tend to overswing them. Results are decidedly mixed.

I have lost distance. It is indisputable. It is somewhere in the 7 to 11 yard range, or about a full club compared to my steel ISI's with a JZ shaft. The lofts on the i3+'s are weak, but not *that* weak. They are exactly 0.2 degrees weaker than the ISI's, and that shouldn't mean a thing to me. The clubhead, however, is C9, which is a couple swingweights lighter. That, possibly along with the shaft, is where the distance loss is occurring, imo.

Consider this -- I play Ping Tour wedges and carry a 50, 54, and 58. My 50 degree wedge travels within 3 to 5 yards of my 47.2 degree i3+ PW, on average. That gap was a solid 10 yards against my ISI PW (47 deg). My drive swing speed maxes out at about 94 mph and probably averages 89, so I am not a huge hitter. It is abundantly clear that these irons are short. You can't get away with thin shots, either. The loss is even more exaggerrated on those.

The flip side is that the irons are straighter. I generally feel a good swing produces straight shots, not a club, but these irons defy that logic a bit. They hit higher shots and the ball will not move either way very easily. Tight draws or fades only. Forget intentional sweeping hooks or huge cuts. If I go right, I pushed it or left the face open. If I go left, I pulled it or made a real bad swing. No, they aren't overly "workable", but if you want supreme workability, you probably aren't reading i3+ reviews.

I have hit many excellent shots so far, so all isn't bad. I am stopping 4 irons on a dime. Of course, they are stopping where my 5 iron used to land, but that was covered already. Feel is what you'd expect from this type of club. Hit the sweet spot and its just a littled muted click. Miss the sweet spot and you still get a playable result without stinging the hands.

I am going to experiment with some lead tape on the head and will probably change shafts. If that doesn't work, I will sell them. I wanted to review the clubs out of the box though to be fair. Ping can alter them by changing the weight, but that is really expensive. Tape would do the same thing.

In summary:

Pros: Great look at address, high ball flight, predictably straight with decent swings, lightweight probably good for slower swingers, tremendous value if you know where to look

Cons: Distance loss up to a full club, unimpressive stock shaft, light clubhead weight, tough to work more than a couple yards in either direction

I'd have a hard time recommending these clubs out of the box to a golfer with a harder swing or decent ability (HCP below 10). With some doctoring, they could probably play for anyone. I can see many game improvement features here though, and think they work for a large population of golfers.

Disclaimer: I shoot about 1/3 of my rounds in the high 70's, and the rest in the low 80's. My hcp index is a solid 7.x on average.

Disclaimer 2: The i3+ Blades are supposedly heavier. I have never hit them, but probably should.

This is my second set of these, I stupidly sold the first. Distance is slightly better than average for me by about 5 yards on each club. The accuracy is about average-good, although the generous offset can make you hit shots more left than normal if you're not used to a lot of offset. Once you get used to the clubs then it becomes less noticable. What's really great is the customization options and the very solid feel and superb quality. I have the CS Lite regular steel shafts and they fit me well. Overall, just an excellent all around club, especially when you get comfortable with them after playing them for a long period of time.
