Wildly Popular since their mid 80's inception, the Ping Eye2 Irons are the original, and still one of the best cast, perimeter weighted cavity back irons on the market.

I bought a used set. I now have to club down nearly 2 clubs because these clubs are so good. I never thought of myself as a long golfer until I got these clubs. By far, the best Irons I have ever hit. I'm a believer.

These are some of the best irons out there! They have really good feel and are incredibly forgiving. Overall, the best irons I've played...

Over the past 20 yrs, I've gone from Karsten 1s to Titleist Pro Models, to 845s, to DCI Bs back to Pro Models and now I've finally found love in my ""EYEs"". Feel wise there is no comparison to my old blades, but there is a performance trade off with off-center hits. With the offset, I find myself ""hitting into the ball"" with greater confidence, and we know the game is 90% between the ears. The BeCu heads have a bit more weight and softer feel than the stainless, I have both. I believe the Eye 2+ is a testament to those traditionalists who believe that new technology doesn't always mean better. I purchased the BeCus used with KT shafts. I'm not quite certain what it is, higher kick point or the head weighting, but the ball trajectory is noticably higher than any other clubs that I've ever tried. These are classic. PS--for you collectors out there, I hear that 962s will be the next generation of ""eye 2"" cult clubs. The 990s are moving back towards the old DCI style and I hear that Titleist is trying to create a mystiqe with the 962s. Their attempt to introduce Prototype putters on the market flopped due to the high price commanded (ie. $400-$800, it just a putter and not even old just, ""beanie baby"" generated limited sypply). So, by phasing out the very, very hot 962s, thru dilution with 981 & 990s, the market for these very excellent performing clubs will, with hope, reach the ""Eye 2+ cult phenomenon"".

I tried out several new models from different manufacturers, and even the Zing, Zing2, and ISI from Ping. None of them felt as well balanced, solid or playable as the used Eye2s I ended up with. They are workable and forgiving at the same time. I gained about 15-20 yards on each club over my old set. I had the clubs fitted by a Ping authorized pro after I had played a few rounds with them and they got even better.

Customer Service

Once I had the Pro determine the optimal loft and lie for me, I sent them to Ping to have them adjusted. They turned them around in a week, and when I got them back they were like new. The dots were painted the appropriate color, the faces had been resurfaced, and the lettering had been repainted. All without being requested or charged for. I was very impressed.

I agree with all the other reviews here. These are by far the best irons I've hit. I sold my Taylor Made Burners when I hit these. Extremely forgiving and mis-hits seem to turn out good. They are very workable at the same time. About the same distance as most irons I've played. I will not be looking for any new irons for a long time.

Being a left handed golfer it is difficult to try a set of clubs out but in this instance I was lucky enough to have a left handed golf pro at the club where I both work and play. Four yrs ago I borrowed his clubs and saw an immediate improvement in my game. In fact I went from a 17 handicap to a 9 by the end of that year. I am told by the pro that I am the only golfer he has ever seen to improve so drastically because of the clubs. With the Pings I find that even my bad shots are better than my best shots with my previous set of clubs. You hit these on the toe or heel and it may be a little short but the ball will still travel towards the target. I find it easy to spin the ball for stop or to draw it back and the feel is great. I'd recommend these irons to anyone; just make sure that your pro knows how to fit you so that you get the right lie and loft as well as shaft flex.

Customer Service

Great service for club repair but not so good when ordering from Karsten for a new set, they are slow but improving.
