First off, let me say that I am not a great golfer. 16.7 handicap index, so I typically shoot mid-upper 80's to lower 90's. But, I am a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to my golf equipment, especially irons. My other sets that I really enjoy using from time to time are Hogan Edge Forged and Ping S59. Now for the Nike's. These are, in my opinion, no more difficult to hit solidly than any other iron. A decent strike produces decent results. A solid strike produces the forged feeling and pinpoint accuracy that only a more traditional club with little offset can give.

At address, these clubs look fantastic. There is not a better looking clubhead that I have seen in my 25+ years of golfing. I have the DGS300 steel shaft, which for my game, has been the most consistent performer for a long, long time.

Bottom line, if you like a more traditional look/size in your irons, enjoy the forged club feel, and have a reasonable level of confidence in your game, you will thoroughly playing these irons.

I've been playing golf for nearly 20 years and consider myself to be a good and consistent ball striker. I've been playing these irons for a few years now and have begun to notice an inconsistency with the distances I hit them. I hit two shots with my 5 iron (usually my 190yd club) the other day. No difference in wind and both felt like solid contact. One shot flew the green (200 yds to the back fringe) by at least 15 yards. Another shot came up short of the green on a 192 yd to the flag par 3. It was about a 40 yard variation in shots. Neither were thin or flat. I feel like I hit both on the sweet spot. I also had an approach shot with my 3 iron (Usually 220 carry). The shot was 200 yds to the flag, uphill, blind landing zone and into a pretty stern wind. I hit the ball very well, but believed the wind and uphill would be the difference in distance. Felt like butter and headed straight for the flag. Thought I was gonna have a 10 footer for eagle. Couldn't believe it when I saw that my shot went 240. I love these clubs, matter of fact I've shot my best round ever with them (76), but I think it's time for a change. I think the metal's integrity may be a factor (if that's even possible). I'm not sure what else it could be.

Be careful buying a used set. This model is a few years old.

Have played these clubs for over 8 years now. I have not found another club that compairs. I shoot in the high 70's low 80's and these clubs are right on the money. Since they are forged I have had club covers on them since the day I bought them and they still look brand new. Able to work the ball and the miss hits are forgiving to a degree. I tried the Victory Red and they dont seem to compair to the Combos.

Lovely set of irons. Got them at a good price too. These irons are perfect if your a golfer who likes to work the ball and have a consistant swing.
Long Irons - Very little forgiveness and if you dont hit the sweet spot you'll lose considerable distance.
Mid Irons - Nice to hit, very workable and easy to control trajectory
Short Irons - Beautiful. Deadly accurate, easy to work the ball and generates consistant spin.
All in all these are great irons to hit and give tons of feedback. Best suited to lower handicap golfers.

I have playe with these irons for about 3 months. Simply awesome, only paid $280 off ebay. Now I hit it long and strait. I have gained from 5-15 yards on of distance, depending on the iron. I especially love the 8,9,PW and the solid feel from the blade (no perimeter weighting on the short irons, but the 3-7 irons have different degrees of perimeter weighting).

Though I have been known to change drivers a lot, I am very loyal to my irons. Prior to this set, I have only owned two other sets of irons: Ping Eye 2's and Titleist 731 pm.

I needed another set of irons due to the fact that I have worn the grooves down on my 731's to nothing. Since owning that set, I have been a firm believer in the combo set; nothing beats a blade from 150 yards and in.

In short, if you are a fan of the 731's, you will like the Nike Pro Combo Tour's even better. The NPCT are forged. Meaning they are soft...very soft. As I said above, my previous sets were Eye 2 and the 731's, which is to say I have only owned cast clubs. These really do make a difference in feel. The mid to long irons are especially pleasing to hit. Unlike the 731, these irons have a little bit more weight to them. It is not noticeable from pw - 8 iron, but the 7 - 3 iron is very noticeable. I sort of remembered what I was missing with the Eye 2's in terms of heft in the cavity back, but without the offset. Because of this, I find it easier to get more height out of the long irons when I need to.

Word to the wise, these iron's have traditional loft. Any of you 731 owners know, we are getting away with stronger lofts, i.e. 45* pitching wedge. This necessitated a gap wedge to complete the set -- not with these irons.

In terms of looks, these are gorgeous and understated, which is exactly the way I like them. Unlike the regular Pro Combo irons that have that horizontal line scoring medallion thing going, these have a clean gray finish with chrome around the edges and one little Nike symbol on the toe. Keep in mind that these are forged, meaning they are soft, meaning they are susceptible to bag chatter. This only make it look more classy in my opinion.

As far as the shaft, I have read other reviewers comment on the the Speed Step shaft. I cannot speak to that as these came outfitted with True Temper Dynamic Gold S300. Who can go wrong with DG?

Overall great club. If your wondering why I did not go with another set of 731s, the reason is price. 731s were averaging $300 a set. I got these for $175 and worth every penny.

I look forward to playing these irons for many years to come.

Very responsive. I bought this set on ebay and they were very helpful in identifying fakes.
