Basically my golf grew up with my Mizunos. I bought them 93 and I was then a 28 handicapper. After breaking twice my MacGregor I was tired of cast irons and switched to forged ones. I’ve never regretted it. When I saw them in the shop it was love at first sight. They look good, feel good, and they have taught me to develop a decent swing. However, they have seen many balls and I feel their days are numbered. So I’m searching for some new forged clubs. The Mizuno MP-30s look interesting. But who knows perhaps my Grads and I stay together for another year. It is not easy to split up with an old pal.

These irons are sick...purest irons i have ever hit. Butter. If you like to work the ball and seek those pins, these irons are the ones. These irons have a progressive cavity back and are also forged. You can't compete with mizuno's classic and smooth design of the club.

These have great soft forged feel, and they are bit more forgiving than pure muscle-backs, as the design intends. They are about ideal from my standpoint. The look at address is blade-like, they are great for working the ball, chipping, knockdowns, etc. Not too much offset, versatile rounded sole grind. I''ve been playing these for the last four years - just took my Wilson FG-51s out to the range for the first time since I got these Mizunos. Just out of curiosity. I played the Wilsons for years before this -and they feel HORRIBLE now. Hard, harsh, tiny sweet spot. Even when you flush it, they don''t feel as good as the Grad MPs. Somewhere it says these irons, now out of production, have developed a "cult following". I guess I''m a cultist. I''m thinking of looking for a back-up set, just in case. Not really game improvement clubs however. Mid to high handicappers will probably benefit more from Ping or Callaway or similar.

I got my first set of Grad MP''s at a second hand store 1999 for $100.00. It was truely a case of love-at-first-round. I have played many different types of irons and can say that I am sold on these for life. I just bought a second, much newer, set from a seller on Ebay. These clubs enjoy a cult following among the folks who get a chance to play them. One round with these irons and you will be hooked.

I know that forged clubs without full cavities are not supposed to be for beginning golfers (1 year) like me, but I have found my Mizuno Grads have led to game improvement. The feel and feedback are phenomenal, and they reward solid contact so gloriously that the hands just work to get that sweetness one more time. Off-center shots don't feel anywhere near as good, but the resulting flight and distance are not as compromised as I would have anticipated--pretty much the same as what I got with my oversized cavity-backs. I have Rifle 5.5 shafts which also help breed consistency and terrific feel. And the clubs look great too. These are irons that seem to bring your game up to their level.

I've had my Grads now for between 4-5 years. The have Rifle 6.5 shafts, half-inch extensions, and are bent upright. Wouldn't switch to anything to be honest. I have always preferred the feel of a forged club to a cavity back (even when I mis-hit them in 40 degree weather and my hands go numb) because for all the feedback you get on poor shots, the feedback on the good ones is pure heaven. Pure contact sounds like bliss. I know this sounds strange, but the forged club lovers know what I'm talking about, you Pingers have no clue, no offense (those are sweet sticks to, just different). To me, the Grads are a perfect blend of forged feel with Cavity back forgiveness. I have great control my ball flight trajectory, and feel like the cavity back provides for better distance control on poorly hit shots. And did I mention how good they look?! If you like the look of blades, the Grads will not disappoint. If you're a solid player that's itching for forged clubs(all your buddies will be amazed when you crank a forged 1-iron up the gut 240yds), get the grads, Miz ProII's. The regular blades look and feel better, but for weekend warriors, that's asking a lot of your swing. Trust me... my girlfriend's SUPERHOT so I must know what I'm talking about.

Very sweet club. I love forged clubs. The trajectory is a little high even with stiff shafts in them. However, prettey good for knock down or puch shots. I bought them brand new in 97. I changed the shafts to rifle lites which was a bad idea. Normal rifles or normal tru tempers work better.
Now adays I usually use my pro II's or my MP 29s as I feel they bite better.

Like em all right. I have hit better. these will do for now. Kinda hard to keep the ball low which is what my game is about. I will probably get something else soon. Good irons.
