I have played blades all my life and have been a dedicated MacGregor player for many years, so I am biased toward this brand. The Pro M is probably the best iron MacGregor made, this is a QUALITY forging, ideal sole grind, thin topline - they simply do not get any better. I am also a very experienced club fitter and builder and advise anyone wishing to improve their game to play a players club, such as this model, the Pro C, 1025 C or M. Clubs which have too much forgiveness engineered into them tend to reinforce bad swing habits - so, if you love this game and want to improve play a players club. Buy these for a fraction of their real value and take a few lessons if needed and you will be a better player. Better equipment can make a better player. There is a reason MacGregor irons have won more Major Championships than any other brand, and were the most played club by tour players not paid to use them.

Customer Service

I have been an authorized MacGregor repair shop and would be happy to help anyone who needs work to their clubs. I am anxious to see what Golfsmith does with the brand in the future.

These are fabulous irons - great feel, great control, great distance. All around worth a try-out.

These irons replaced a set of old Tommy Armour "game improvement" irons that really didn't do much beyond reinforcing bad habits. I decided that if I was to get better at this game, I needed clubs that wouldn't coddle me, and these don't - at all. If you are not a good "ball striker" you will be frustrated, at first, playing with these clubs...but you will get better, partly because of these clubs.

I have had them for about a year now, and I can already tell where on the club face I have hit the ball on mis-hits - and that's what any good blade will do for you if you spend enough time hitting with them. Sure, you get added workability and distance with a nice blade, but you also get feedback, and that is more valuable than either, in my opinion. if you want to really improve your game, put down the huge cavity backs and play with good forged blades, like these.

The clubs are flawlessly finished and assembled - no flaws or defects at all on any of the clubs, shafts, or grips. They have performed perfectly.

Several caveats - they are soft, being forged, so they will show dings and nicks. Also, they are currently difficult to find new, so replacement clubs or repairs might be difficult to get. If you wanted these clubs, you are missing your chance...

Lastly, if you are on the fence about blades because people have told you you're not good enough to hit them, please stop listening to those people - play forged muscle-back blades, and learn them, and you will never go back. It takes practice and patience...but don't most things worth doing? If you want instant perfect results, golf might not be your game, in general, anyway.

Customer Service

I have not had to use customer service, but be aware that MacGregor is struggling, so finding these clubs might be a challenge, and repairing or replacing them might be impossible in a few years.

None, but considered and hit Nike TW blades and Mizuno MP-33 irons - both are great, but neither felt as good as the MacGregor.

These irons look great, feel great, produce "pretty" ball flight, but no distance. The loft of a Pro-M 7-iron is about the same as the loft of a MacGregor M675 9 iron. The loft of the Pro-M 5-iron is not as advertised either.
