I had been wanting a new set of clubs for a while but was reluctant to spend a lot of money for good forged irons that I could have fitted. While looking for a putter for my wife at a Pawn Shop I saw a set of these irons: 3-PM with a 56* wedge also. They were priced at $175 but there was a 30% off all golf clubs sale going on . I went back to my car to research the irons and all I could find were good reviews, so I bought them. I had them fitted, I re-gripped them with sufficient tape for my big hands and last season from the day I bought these irons to my last round in the fall I improved every time, going from the low 100's in June to the high 80's in September and a big part of it was the confidence I had using these irons. I was closer to the pin with more ball control than ever in my past. I could draw or fade the ball and the wedges brought it back as far as I wanted to. Looking forward to the snow melting so I can start off in the low 90's/high 80's this year with goals to crack into the 70's.

The love affair with these clubs began when my father went crazy while watching Roy Mcavoy in tin cup try to qualify for the US open while using VIPs. He wanted a set really bad, and fortunatly i found a set barely used at a second hand sporting goods store. seventy bucks. I kept looking in my rearview mirror on the way home in fear of being pulled over for robbing those people who gave me such a wonderful set of irons for nothing. anyways, my father loves them, i got a set for myself and cant imagine using anything other than these babies. Ive only been playing for three years, but i believe you become a better ball striker by using hard to hit irons(not like these are hard to hit other that the occasional fat shot). So these blades are for people looking for beautiful ball flight and plenty of ball stopping spin on the greens

These are the best irons i have come across. After multiple sets of MB's and CB's, i came across these blades. What a wonderfully crafted set of irons. I had KBS tours installed and can do about anything with this set.

Highest praise for a set of irons and even though they are older technology, they will be in the bad for many years!! Thanks MacGregor.

I have played these irons for 4+ years. They are the finest forged blades made period. I have hit everything out there, and I will tell you while there are easier clubs to hit, few more rewarding. You must hit the ball pure, bad shots will be penalized (heavily in some cases). Working the ball is effortless, as if they read your mind. Trajectory is easily controlled with the correct shaft. I have rifle flighted 6.0. I highly recommend these clubs with one large reservation. If you don't have a good repeatable swing look at a cavity back forged club. You will get the feel and playability of forged, with a bigger sweet spot. I special ordered my clubs with lie and loft adjustments. I had them checked when I got them, and each club was dead accurate showing great care in crafting them.

Customer Service

Not the best, but rarely does a club require servicing. My clubs were at my door in 10 days.

These clubs have been just excellent. Don't even think about continuing with lame improvement clubs. They aren't.

Buy "Smash and Carve" the art of ball striking by Scott Minni, and he will have you drawing and fading your new McGregor blades to your hearts content.

They've been just great, and don't forget the book!!

Customer Service

None required, the clubs have been perfect

I have played blades for over 20 years. I've played Titleist, Mizuno, Maxfil, etc. the MacGregor 1025M is by far the BEST!!! Great feel, responsiveness and feedback---and---the long irons are soooo easy to hit. And with height! I cannon say enough about these clubs. In fact, I purchased a second set for my house in another state.

I have an old set of Ram Tour Grind forged blades that have done great service for a very long time. A few years back I bought Titleist 990B "blades" as a replacement set since the old sticks were getting pretty worn out. Big mistake. I've persisted with them, largely because I paid top dollar for them (over a grand), but have never been really happy with the feel at all. They are quite good in terms of distance control and accuracy, but the feel is lousy - even perfectly struck shots have a hard click at impact. Bought the Macgregors untried, since they were so cheap, under 300 bucks - very slightly used, but unmarked. This set is 1" longer than standard, adjusted to a couple of degrees upright, and have X100 shafts as opposed to S300 in the Titleists. In a word, stunning. I don't get amazing distance with them, nor do I suddenly have magical skills in working the ball as I please. What I do get is extraordinary feel and feedback, and remarkable predictability. By far, the most outstanding characteristic of these clubs is distance control. While I still miss my target left or right more often than I'd like (who doesn't?), I now very rarely get the distance wrong. Get your yardage right, pull the club and hit it solid and you will be bang on the money every single time. Pin high and 10 feet left beats 15 yards long or short any day. Another surprise - the long irons are easy to launch high. Forget those dorky looking hybrid clubs - you will not need them. I've never really played with offset clubs, and rarely with cavity backs, as I simply don't enjoy the look and feel of all the ones I've tried. By contrast, these Macgregors look terrific in the bag, and feel sublime in the hands. Given that they are available at crazy cheap prices new or used simply because they don't have the cachet of Mizuno or Titleist makes them an even better bargain. Buy them. Even in the unlikely event that you don't improve your scores, you will now know exactly why. To my mind, "game improvement" clubs are absolutely NOT that - they might help your bad shots work out better, but you will have a hard time figuring out why. Good, bad or indifferent swings all produce similar results. How do you learn what a good shot feels and looks like with that going on?

Customer Service

No opinion - first set of Macgregor clubs owned. These are beautifully made and finished and hopefully will last a very long time (I hate changing clubs).

I posted almost exactly a year ago on these and I could not be happier. Ive gone from a 20+ to a 14 in just under a year. A few lessons and a new driver helped, but the feeling of iron confidance i recieved from my Macgregor Blades is by far the catalyst. Try em, you wont be dissapointed.

I was looking to replace my aged (and 7 iron-less) set of T-Zoid Comp EZ's. Bought a set of 1025CM's with 6.0 shafts on Ebay for $150 based on the reviews here. I felt like I had run into the limit of workability of the Zoids and blades seemed like the next step, however, the mixed set was a way to avoid the total commitment to playing blades, as I wasn't sure my game was up to it. It's been a few range sessions and two rounds now... and maaaaan! These clubs are incredible. The feedback is stellar. They are very easy to control, and work left and right. For any mid/high handicappers like me concerned about the "blades are for scratch golfers" thing, forget it. These are incredibly easy to hit and are still very forgiving. Mis-hits for me tend to fall 20yards or so short of the target but stay online pretty well. But hey... it's a MIS-HIT right!?!? And there's nothing like hitting the sweet spot on these babies. Excellent trajectory, lots more spin than my Zoids and sooooo workable. I only have two problems so far, which are probably not the fault of these clubs. First, distances. I figure it'll get better with time, but I'm getting a range of nearly 30 yards in distance with each iron. Second, the CB irons (3,4,5,6) have too much offset for me, and I would think for most people that don't slice. My regular set-up for 3 iron draw produces a nasty pull/hook. I have to "fade" it to hit it straight and damn near clice it to move it right. I'm probably going to end up buying a full muscleback set of these clubs, since the 7-W are soooooo easy to hit, and they have significantly less offset. Oh. And one last thing. Even used, these clubs are gorgeous. Two rounds and I've already gotten 3 or 4 compliments.
