Model Reviewed: Dunlop black Ti irons

I bought the Dunlop black Ti irons about a decade ago and have used them ever since. I got it because it was a cheap set.

It is quite a reasonable set given what it cost. I can hit the pitching wedge a little over 120 yards. It is a reasonably forgiving club though when I compare it to the more modern game improvement sets it is not as impressive. These sets have maybe 10 percent more distance and forgiveness but in terms of value for money they compare horribly.

The long irons in the set are very easy to use off the tee but not so great off the fairway. The shorter irons have no problems off either.

When you contact the ball in the sweet spot it sounds good and flies well.

I intend to change these clubs purely because technology has improved so much over the past decade that modern clubs are more forgiving and have more distance. Also with my game slowly improving and my understanding of the swing growing I realise that I need to be able to hit both draws and fades at will and that is not so easy to do with the more game and super game improvement clubs.

Regular flex, standard/standard. Decent club for the money, much easier to hit off the deck than a 3 wood. If you're thinking about trying a hybrid but don't want to drop a bundle on an Adams, TaylorMade etc., give this club a shot. For $30 or less, you can't go wrong.
