In shopping for a game-improvement replacement for my beginner's set of Wilson Pro-Staffs, I have tried out several new irons.
The Cobra CXI ranks near the bottom of my list so far.
Feel: Best to worst...
Taylor-Made Firesoles
Cleveland TA-5 Gunmetal
Cleveland TA-5 Steel
Nicklaus Air-Bear Irons
Cleveland Quad-Pro
Cobra CXI
Taylor-Made Super-Steel

The head seems too heavy for my tastes, resulting in a feeling that it was out of control.

Accuracy: Best to Worst...
Nicklaus Air-Bear
Cleveland TA-5 Steel
Cleveland Quad-Pro
Taylor Made Firesole
Cleveland TA-5 Gunmetal
Cobra CXI
Taylor Made Super Steel

I never did get a very solid hit on the CXI, so accuracy suffered.

Distance: Best to Worst...

Cobra CXI Distance suffered from lack of good contact by me.

Looks: Best to Worst...

Nice emblem on CXI, but its oversize look detracted from its score.

I never got a very good contact with this club.

When you catch the ball on the sweet spot with these irons man does she fly long and straight, really isn't hard to do seeing how the sweet spot is the entire club face. Major forgiveness especially on toe hits. Ball never fans out right and distance really isn't shortened. I generally hit a Tommy Armour silver scot 8 iron approx. 145yards, now with the CXI's try 160-165.No kidding!!!!! Club sets up great behind the ball and club head is weighted well to enhance feel through the shot. Impact is sweet, little to no viabration even on thin hits. Incredible set of irons.

Saying that I play a lot of links golf I found it easy to draw or fade the ball, easier to punch shots and most of all they sat really well behind the ball for confidence to play off bare lies.

If you desire an iron with callaway forgiveness, but not the callaway price, this is the club to buy. Very easy to get the ball airborne. I Strongly recommend these irons!!!

Hit a lot of irons before deciding to go with these (see above). Almost decided on the Maxfli Midsize until I tried the Cobras on a whim. Very foregiving on toe and thin hits. Consistent distance and very accurate. Doesn't have quite as good feedback as the Maxflis (which are the best I've hit in a game improvement club), but not as dead as the Supersteels. Also, very good distance between clubs and about a half club longer than the Maxflis.

I found a set of CXI steel shafts for $400.00 (new even) and couldn't pass them up. Glad I didn't. Great feel, very well balanced. Excellent club for the money. I highly recommend you try a set if you are looking for a reasonably priced set of irons.

One word to describe these irons, "WOW". Hit them on recomendation from Cobra after disappointment with older set and was impressed with everything about them. Priced reasonable in steel shaft.
