Cleveland TA 7 Womens
I am a new golfer. I decided to write this review because there is such a lack of women's club reviews out there (as compared to mens) and there may be some new women golfers who are not sure what clubs to buy. When you are new you do not know what you want. The TA 7's are great clubs. I was using a set of cut down mens Ping Zing 2's with a graphite regular shaft and mens grips. I wanted to re-shaft them with a lighter graphite shaft but was advised by everyone, including Ping not to do that, so I started looking at ladies Callaway and Ping G2 irons. I saw the TA 7's on sale for half their normal price (1/3rd the price of the Callaways and Pings) at my local (chain) golf shop so I gave them a try. They are light weight and feel great. It is a soft feel when the ball comes off the club head and it flies! It's is a solid feel with a light sound. I like the smaller Winn grips (more control)as compared to mens grips. I lost a little distance as compared to my Ping Zing 2's but I am hitting the ball straighter and higher in the air. I had ball height with the mens irons but the TA 7's go even higher. The wedges are sublime and I can finally hit a 4 iron. I have shaved 4 points off of my game and after I work with the pro my distance will come back, I am sure, and go further since it is easier to hit the sweet spot now. (Wrists over ladies) I feel these clubs were a steal and in the long run they will make me a better player. The Callaway BB's 2004 had me making consistent shots but I was afraid I would get into a club that I would not be able to work down the road and Ping now has a G5 coming out, so there will always be something new to investigate. I practice/play 2-3 times a week so I am improving very quickly and have signed up for private lessons with the pro. There are some good deals on these clubs now if you search around. You don't have to spend $1000 on clubs. It is not going to make you a better player. From what I understand these clubs originally were up there in price also. Keep practicing and later on down the road you will have more of an idea what works best for you. Your swing will change as you learn the correct mechanics so if you are as serious about improving as I am you need a club that's workable. You may just keep your TA 7's and never change. Cleveland knows what they are doing. Customer Service Haven't needed them so far.
