i have had my x-16 pro series for several years now. special order at 2* flat, std. length and with tt dynamic gold. these are by far the most versatile yet forgiving irons i have owned. alignment is easy with the very minimal offset and ball flight is high but flat. workable in either direction but easily will go straight. there is enough feedback through the club to know where a miss hit was on the face and center hits are very sweet.
Customer Service only dealt with a rep during demo day and custonm fitting, but that service was first rate |

Have played these clubs for a year and a half now. I would say that they are definitely game improvers with huge forgiveness for mis-hit shots. However they lack the look and feel of a real players club and feedbcak off the clubface is non-existent. I would say in general that callway irons are not for the low single figure golfer (apart from the X-tours). Have recently ordered set of MP 60's to get a bit of feel back. I love the forgiveness of a cavity club. These are great for "oops" shots and not bad for distance. The ONLY negative is you can't shape shots very well. Highly recommended for any golfer that shoots 80 or above. Customer Service Haven't used yet. |

Callaway X-16 Pro Series
Well, when I was in the market for a new set of irons I left myself open to whatever brand felt the best. I always liked Callaway and absolutely love my Steelhead Plus 5 wood....favorite club in the bag, longer than any 3 wood I've ever hit and thats why I dont carry a 3 wood. I hit the Cleveland TA 7's, Ping i3's and the X-16 Pro Series. I didn't like the Ping's because they felt too light and weren't as foriving as the clubs I was hitting (Cobra's). It really came down to the Cleveland's and the Callaway's, and as you might guess the X-16's won out. I love the weight, the Rifle shafts, the forgiveness, the distance and how much more I enjoy playing golf. I usually shoot in the mid 80's with an occasional round in the low 80's. I do feel they are game improvement and there's nothing wrong with that...that's what were all after isn't it?! Customer Service Have not needed them. Similar Products Used: Cobra |

I purchased a set of X-16 pro series with rifle shafts approximately 2 months ago. I figured I would give Callaway clubs a try and see what all the hype is about. I played 8-10 rounds and found myself too inconsistent with them, and not extremely enjoyable. I have recently traded them in and purchased a new set of Ping G2 irons 3-LW, and love them. They're just not the club for me. |

I played forged blades from the time I made the high school golf team at age 14 until early this summer. That is 26 years. I have always played pretty tough courses from the championship tees. My best round at Torrey was 78. My worst was 89. Usually I shot about an 82. At the beginning of this summer, I borrowed a set of these clubs and played a round with them at Torrey. I put up my best round ever: 74. Since then, I have stayed mostly in the mid- to upper- 70s at Torrey. (Of course Torrey is not set up like it is for the pro tournament when I play there but believe me it is still plenty tough from the tips). I went to PGA West and shot an 81 from the tips, also my best score there ever by five strokes. At my local country club I tied my all-time best with my first round with these clubs, beat it by one stroke my second round, and beat it by three strokes my third. What can I say? I must have been absolutely crazy to use blades all those years. There was no cause for it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these irons. You can work the ball easily. Open the club slighty and take a normal swing, and you will get a fade, just like a blade gives you. Close the club slightly and take a normal swing, and you will get a draw, just like a blade gives you. If you are behind a big tree, square the clubface at the hole, line up for a shot left of the tree, club for the loss of distance, and you will get a nice, big slice that curves around the tree and lands on the green. My blades used to penalize me for off-center hits. These put the ball right up there close to where a center hit would be. You can knock it on the toe and lose about 15 feet of length and maybe 10 feet of direction. My blades would have penalized me far worse than that. These irons just leave you closer to the hole a lot more often. The feel difference between these clubs and blades is real but slight. They may not be forged but they are pretty soft. They have heavy heads like blades. If you cannot hit these clubs very well, then see a pro to fix your swing. The problem could not be in these clubs. For years I used Callaway woods and felt comfortable off the tee. Now I feel comfortable tee to green, and instead of beating out range balls to groove a blade-quality swing, I have been having a ball practicing my chips and pitches and putts, which has lowered my average scores and my handicap and is just a dream come true. I cannot believe what I fool I was to keep playing blades. The main difference between these Callaways and blades is that when you use the Callaways you keep coming in with lower scores. X-16 Pro Series
Ok, finally put my ego aside and realized forged blades and forged cavity backs are not for me. A friend had a set of X-16 Pro Series irons and I gave them a try at the range. I hit them very well and they were extremely forgiving. I traded away my forged cb's and for a like new set of these with DGS300 shafts. These irons want to help you out!! They fly high, straight and long...plus offer the utmost in forgiveness. The look is a little non traditional but still nice. If you truly want to improve your game and impress your playing partners with lower scores I would highly recommend these to anyone! Customer Service Not had occasion to use them, but have heard nothing but enthusiastic reviews of their service. Great Irons very workable. These clubs are great for mid to low handicaps. Higher Handicaps may have harder time using 6 iron and up. Customer Service the shaft detached from the club head. |

callaway x-16 pro series
Played the Callaway X-16 Pro Series for over a year. I bought the irons a little over a year ago, with off the rack fitting (guess I am lucky that I am custom fitted for off the rack standards.) I love these irons. They don't hit the ball too high or too low. Have moderate to high workability depending on how skilled you are at working the ball. I am a callaway fanatic, eventhough my last irons were the infamous mp-33's. In the last couple months I have fallen in love with the x-16's. I have played many different kind of irons, and for an 80's player they have the game im looking for. Prior to these callaway irons I had the x-14's and they were the first ions I ever saw 70's golf with. The x-16's hit the ball not nearly as high but offer every other feature the "better" golfer needs to step up his game. I would love to try the x-18's but can't give into callaway every time they release a new product. So if you're out there looking for a great product from callaway, I offer my special time with the x-16's because they have done so much for me. The only thing I miss about my x-14's is the constant flex shaft because it launched the ball so high it offered amazing distance, almost uncontrolable. I just wish my short game was up to par with the iron game so I could offer you a better point of view on these magnificant irons. Only dissapointment is the resale value which makes you feel that the iron is obsolete after a year when Callaway comes out with another model. Customer Service Never dealt with callaway, but odyssey, a company run by callaway. I bought a putter from odyssey and emailed them on how I lost the head cover trying to purchase a new one directly from them. Withing 3 days odyssey sent me a brand new headcover at no cost. Would reccomend to anyone. Similar Products Used: cleveland ta-5, callaway x-14, mizuno mp-33, nothing compares |
