This is an update to a previous review. I have switched irons recently and really did not appreciate the performance of these clubs until I traded them in. They may not have the flash of a Callaway or Taylormade or the tour presence like Titleist but these irons are highly understated. They are an easy iron to hit. Mis-hits suffer very little and distance loss is minimal. Good spin control on PW to 8 iron, 7-5 iron has mid to high launch characteristics and long irons perform just as well. Very good feedback from irons on contact but not quite like forged or performance blades. The sole tends to limit how much of a divot you take but this will aid the high handicapper and doesn't really limit the mid to low player as they are still quite workable. Don't let their clean refined look undermine their capability, they will compete easily with almost any game improvement iron. They would be a great upgrade for most players and I'm sure at their current price that alot of golfers will be very pleased with their purchases (as seen by all these reviews). I'm hoping I won't regret switching irons but only time will tell.

Wow, what a surprise, especially for the price. Clean shots are crisp, straight and good distance. Good spin on short irons. I had a set of Cleveland CG4 Tours, they felt dead and just didn't feel right. With the Hogans at $199 I thought what the heck...traded in the Clevelands. I am absolutely surprised at how nice these Hogans feel and how true they hit....I love these clubs. Even thought the shafts are supposedly stiff (#4) a nice smooth swing really gets excellent results, you don't have to try kill it. If you can still find them, these are the best deal out there!

Picked up a new set of these off ebay at a deal. Also got a deal on a 3 wedge set at the same time.
They just look so nice when compared to other game improvement clubs.
No huge sole but a generous and forgiving cavity back. The offset doesn't diminish from the look at all.
As far as performance I compare these to my Callaway X 12's and I have to say I was surprised at how well the Hogan's work.
They are top notch in feel, accuracy, and forgivness and look much better than the shovel look of the X 12's.
The wedges play very well also which was another nice surprise.
Can't go wrong with these and I highly recommend them.

Bought a set at Golfsmith for $199. The offset doesn't bother me as much as my Ping G2s, making alignment easier for more accurate and consistant shots. Soft feel, good feedback and excellent looks. Get a set before they sellout, you won't regret it.

Customer Service

Not needed if they are built as good as my Hogan CFTs.

I shoot mid 80's - low 90's.
You can purchase offset or low-offset sets. Purchased these for $199.99 at Golfsmith store. Also available for same price on rockbottomgolf.com, possibly elsewhere. VERY pleased with them. Very forgiving, considering they aren't the size of a lunch box. Easy to chip and hit half and 3/4 shots. Looked at a used Apex Edge set, but I don't like the 3 & 4 hybrids, because they are not offset like an iron, more onset like a fairway wood. I also like to be able to play it back and hit a wind-cheater with the 3 & 4 irons anyway. (not to mention chipping underneath trees to find my way back the the fairway...) They are 17-4 stainless steel, so they should wear better than irons made with 431 steel. The sole is very forgiving. I'm able to trap/pinch the ball with no resistance. At $200 I believe these are the best bang for the buck out there. And even though they are cast, not forged, I think they are a beautiful club. They look impressive in the bag. I'll be playing these for a long while.

Customer Service

I don't expect to need it, but I'm sure Callaway would take care of a situation if it arises.

These clubs will keep up with any overpriced "club of the month". A solid hit just flies off the face and even mis-hits with these babies leave you in a playable position. I needed a well-built club, as my handicap is starting to come down, and the BH-5's are what I was looking for. They are selling extremely cheap and worth much more than they are priced. The ball flight is high and long, which is fun to watch. A nice, traditional looking set that looks great in the bag next to a new driver or hybrid. Go BH-5's and start hitting more Greens in Regs.

The BH-5s are so easy to hit, it feels like I'm cheating. The ball flys high, straight and with lots of spin. I've knocked 5 strokes off my score since I picked the BH-5s up due to more GIRs.

I love the way they set up and how light the clubs feel. I like the low offset as I tend to get too much draw with high offset iron and the low offset feels more comfortable to me at address. Their narrow soles cut through the rough fairly well. Carry distance is about the same as the other irons I've played, total distance is a bit less due to less roll.

One complaint is the satin finish stainless steel is much more susceptable to nicks and marks than chrome plated irons like my MacGregors. The only other fault (which may be my swing) is I seem to hit the 3i & 4i so high I don't get a full 10 yards distance from the 5i to 4i and 4i to 3i.

It's a shame the Ben Hogan brand seems to be fading away and the BH-5s weren't a huge sales success. But when the BH-5s came out they were priced higher than the market would bear.

The BH-5s are still available at closeout. For $200 they are a steal.

Customer Service

Calaway, who owns Hogan is the best. If you have an in warranty problem they will send you a pre-paid return label so you don't have to go through the place you bought it. They were wonderful when I broke my 3w shaft last summer.

I tried out the BH-5 at a golf store because it was on super discount at $198. I was surprised how easy it is to hit on the simulator. I bought the set and never regretted a bit. With the BH-5 I was able to hit a draw easy. The clubs are a gem to hit. I now have confidence to pull out my 7-iron for a 150 yard shot to the green. I don't have to pressure myself to drive super long. Who ever designed this club did an awesome job. High quality, accurate and soft - almost prefect.

I was upgrading from a set of Pings and was considering everything. The last set of irons I would have ever considered were the BH5's or any Hogan set. However once I began to swing them against the Titlist,Cobra's, Callaway's and others I was sold on the BH5's. They are really easy to hit and a bit forgiving. I will say you definately need to put a good swing on it but it truely is a great set of clubs for the money. Once again I agree with almost every other person who has reviewed that these are a steal.
