These are my first set of "real" irons. I have had them for about three years now ... they have helped me shoot anywhere from 140 to, only recently, 93. I have learned the game with these and I think that they are perfect for my level of golf currently. Similar Products Used: None |

I have these clubs since I started playing golf four years ago. These clubs are forgiving, and easy to hit. I have recently moved up to Hogan Apex irons because I've been losing distance with the 855's high ball flight. But if you're looking for a club that is easy to hit straight consistently, these are the ones Similar Products Used: None |

Solid set of clubs. Played these clubs when they originally came out and recorded 4 rounds of 69. Tried Slazenger, Ping Eye2 and ISI Becu but came back to the 855's clean lines. Like any other club, they can be mishit, however when hit well, they perform well. Tour Step II Shaft is stiffer than normal stiff shaft. Its surprising how much the new PING I3 blade looks like the 855. Customer Service Purchased a set of the new release 855 clubs, but returned them. They are lower quality than the original release 855 irons. Similar Products Used: Slazenger, Ping Eye2, Ping ISI, Ping I3 |

I really enjoy these clubs. My swing speed was much too fast for the callaway graphites and I constantly hooked them. Returned to the 855's and I am very consistant. I have so much more control. Similar Products Used: wilson sam snead, ping zing, callway x-12's graphite |

I now know why they have been discountinued. These are at best, average clubs that are not very forgiving on mis-hits, and don't hit the ball very long on well hit shots. Compared to Titleist, Ping, Nicklaus, etc these are definately second tier. Similar Products Used: Cobra (orig, KCII, CXI), Ping (eye2, I3), Nicklaus, Powerbilt, Maxfli, Peerless,, and other |

Bought these clubs when I first got into golf six years ago. Took me from a 30 handicap to a 3. The shaft ( Tour Step II )seems stiffer than a regular stiff shaft. Feels closer to an X100 shaft. Good for physically strong players. Still produces a higher ball flight. Not as workable as my brother-in-laws 845's. A fairly forgiving club distance wise. Now that I'm a little better player I'm going to move on to a blade style club. I would recommend the stiff shaft clubs for the physically stronger beginner/intermediate players. Purchased 855's Silver Scott in late early 1997. Liked them right away, had a solid feel with the stiff steel shaft. Felt consistent if hit properly. Then had shaft breakage problems. 2 clubs let go at shaft/club head and then 1 snapped at the middle of the grip. Needless to say they are collecting dust in my basement. This steel shaft was much to stiff and I feel has some serious problems. Probably the reason Armour discontinued this line of clubs. Similar Products Used: None |

Nicest clubs I have ever owned. Had a set of steel shafts and switched to Cobra graphites. Big mistake-- switched back to 855 graphite this year and knocked two strokes off my handicap. Great feel and good trajectory even on off-center hits. Similar Products Used: None |

These irons never got off the ground, and Armour abandoned the 855 line. It's a shame because these are nice irons. I hit them farther than most other irons I've played. They have relatively little offset for an oversize forgiving cavity back, but this is good if you're not counting on your clubs to fix a swing defect. I used them with the graphite shafts. Price is good with them being available for about $400-500. The only thing that stopped me from buying them was that they produce a relatively high trajectory; this is great for soft landings with long irons, but would probably not be practical at my windy, seaside, links-style home course (Kau Sai Chau, Hong Kong). This club lets me get the most out of my swing...which unfortunately isn't always a lot! Distance loss is fairly significant with off center hits, but direction is always good. They have quite a bit of offset and feel somewhat dead (not a lot of mass behind the sweetspot), but it's tough to argue with the results they provide. Never had this much correction from an iron before. Beware...the stock shafts (Tour Step II) run pretty stiff. Might want to get one flex softer than you think. Similar Products Used: None |
