got these to replace my cheap-o clubs. I can say the winners in this set are the 3 and 4 hybrid... BUT! nobody mentions the other clubs. I can for some reason hit those 3 and 4 crazy distances, straight and long easily. I grab an iron from this set any higher than a 4 and i can't get a good hit with it. The contact just feels way way off, the ball barely lobs and gets no distance. This is just my take and I'm posting this both to say...if you only need to improve your long game, get only the hybrids, don't spend the extra money on the 5-pw from this set, but i'm also posting to say...if someone else knows why i can't hit these irons, PLEASE tell me!!

I have about 8 9-hole rounds under my belt with these and have been extremely satisfied. I started out shooting mid-to-high 40s (even a couple low 50s), but my last three rounds have been solidly in the low 40s. The key has been better approach shots to the green. The 3i through 6i have been fantastic in that regard. I'm not terribly long - but I now have a high degree of confidence of hitting the green from 180-150 yds, and getting it close on anything under 150 yds. The traditional irons are excellent too - I'm hitting them about a half club longer than my old irons (so that's taken a bit of adjustment}.

I put a fairway wood swing to the hybrids and the results are generally excellent and always predictable. Where I used to hit 5W and 7W instead of anything longer than a 5 iron, I now eagerly grab a 3i, 4i or 5i hybrid. I don't carry a 7W anymore and have only hit the 5W once since putting these clubs in the bag.

Around the green, I've found that my 6i has become my favorite club. Within a few feet of the green, I can put a putting stroke to it and it lofts nicely over the fringe and lands and gets the ball rolling quickly. Or, from a few yards out, a bump-n-run is an easy play - especially uphill. The 6i is a very versatile chipping club.

One last note - at 6'3", my swing is very upright and I had to have these clubs' loft adjusted 2 degs 'up'. Many club fitters are ignorant to the fact that cast irons CAN be bent up to two degrees and hybrids CAN also be bent too - with proper equipment. If you need an adjustment, find a club fitter with a Mitchell machine w/hybrid fixturing.

Overall, I'd say these clubs have taken 3-5 strokes per nine off my score and have me eager to hit the 130-180 yds approach shots. At $400-500, they're a good value. I receommend the steel/graphite shaft combo - giving the benefit of length on the hybrids and control on the traditional irons (7-PW).

I purchased a set of Adams A2 OS irons and I am thrilled by the performance. As most golfers have trouble with the long irons, I simply could not hit the 3 and 4 with any consistence. The adams hybrids are all that they are advertised to be.
I recently played a few rounds and one hole I hit a 4 hybrid 170 to within 4 feet of the pin for a birdie. The very next day I played the same hole from 174 with the same club and holed out for an eagle. The 170yd. to 185yd. range was a real problem for me but not with these clubs. The other irons are equally as good and I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy playing them.

These are great clubs for a mid handicapper. They have an excellent feel throughout the swing. Hitting the ball is like hitting a mushroom cap with these clubs. This is great for folks that have arthritus in their hands (as I do). The first time I hit the clubs was at the local driving range and besides the feel I noticed that every ball I swung at except for one was within a 5 yard path of each other. Yes I hit the long irons further and the short irons closer. But if there was a straight line on the ground from me to my longest shot only one of the 30+ balls was more than 2 1/2 yards from that line. They are hard to work right or left... They sort of force you to plan on a straight line shot. But in my case that's a plus.

I can say that in my case it was money well spent.

Customer Service

I only had a little dealing with customer service. I asked about the wrench & weight screws for the hybrids. They were very friendly and helpful. Cudo to Adams for having quality employees and products. A lot of American companys could learn from Adams Golf.

I just got these clubs last week after having played with an old set of Dunlop 357s for years. Obviously, anything would be an improvement over those, but nonetheless, I am astounded at how much easier the Adams are to hit. I hit 2 full buckets using just the 5 and 6 irons this weekend just because they are so sweet to hit. I still hit the occasional slice, but waaaaay less often than I did before. I've read that its important that you feel good about the club in your hand, and with these thats very easy. They are attractive to look at and have a very nice weight. The grips are fine for a lower priced set and the sound off the face is solid. I completely recommend these clubs to anyone that just wants to go have fun and doesn't need to worry about shaping shots around trees, etc.

Went to this set after carrying Callaway Big Berthas for a season. I play one-handed due to an injury, and I can tell you - these are the easiest irons to hit out there if you have a slow swing speed ( I'm around 80 mph, right hand only, right handed swing ). The hybrids are awesome, WAY easier to hit that traditional long irons. I've played Callaway, Ping, lots of high-priced stuff. For the $$, you can't beat Adams!

Customer Service

I e-mailed them to tell them what a fantastic set of clubs they're producing, and how I play 1-handed - They sent me a hat!

These clubs are awesome, it is hard to hit a shot that does not feel as though it came off the sweetspot.

The ball flies very, very high off the club and stops dead on landing with little spin. You will find that you are hitting one club longer than normal. The only hassle here is that you may need a lob wedge to cover distances of around 50 - 70 mtrs.

The hybrids are easy to hit and are long, I hit the 3 hybrid around 220mtrs which is a good 30 mtrs more than any 3 iron that I have ever hit until the Adams.

The only thing that I am coming to terms with is that you must tee the hybrids low to avoid hitting them thin.

Model Reviewed: Adams Idea A2 OS Irons

I once heard Jack Nicklaus comment that he only hit a few shots per round purely. If the greatest player of all time felt this way, who am I to think I couldn’t use a little help minimizing the negative results of my mis-hits?

I can still hit a 2 or 3 irons and have a high swing speed. (100 mph Driver)
But I wasn’t happy with my short iron play and wanted to retool.

When I heard pros like Dana Quigley saying he didn’t even carry a 3 iron anymore and suggested amateurs shouldn’t either I took notice. When I saw Tom Watson playing with and endorsing these irons I took notice. If Tom Watson wants easier clubs to hit why should I be too proud to seek all the help I can get?

The integration of the hybrids, Adams is number 1 on the Champions Tour and number 2 on the PGA Tour, is what sold me on this set. I decided on the more forgiving OS (Over Sized) set because I’m no Tom Watson. {;-D

The 3 and 4 Hybrids of the OS set are slightly larger than those that Watson plays, and supposedly more forgiving. I must say I felt like I was cheating when I first hit these clubs. I had to adjust my address so I didn’t hook it off the course, as the offset design promotes a draw. Once making this correction, I was able to hit them straight with a slight draw, but I can still fade it if necessary, or sometimes by accident. The feel and sound is different than anything I’ve experienced. The ball seems to launch off the face of these clubs. With a breeze at my back I decided to hit my 3 Hybrid off a hole where I usually use a 3 wood. I just wanted to try the new clubs.
I put a beautiful swing on it and with the high trajectory these clubs provide the ball went up into the "jet stream" and landed 220 yards from the tee, and smack dab in the middle! I was in love. The 3 and 4 are also much easier to hit from the rough. I was always leery of hitting long irons nestled in the rough. Not anymore.

The 5 and 6 irons are more iron-like but have graphite shafts and wider soles than standard irons and some plastic behind the cavity backs. I find they are also easier to hit than standard cavity back irons and I haven’t lost any accuracy due to the graphite shafts. This of course only when I put a good swing on it. :-D

The low center of gravity on the other irons gave them a very solid feel. The ball launches on pitches and I’ve had to adjust to not sail them over the green.

The hybrids are also great for chipping out of deep grass green side.

In the 35 years I’ve bee playing golf I’ve never been so excited to pull out my 3 and 4 “irons” for shots. These clubs have added some confidence to my game. I was really struggling with my irons, something that once was the strength of my game. I’m planning on making iron play my strong suit again.

Great price too. I got them new via ebay for $375.
Retail is usually $499, which is still a good price for a set with essentially for hybrids and 4 graphite Graffoloy shafts.
The two hybrids alone would cost you $150 each.

Excellent product.
