Titleist PT Fairway Metals Fairway Woods

Titleist PT Fairway Metals Fairway Woods

DESCRIPTION

The original PT fairway metal wood has always enjoyed a cult following. This most recent version is inspired by the original PT.and is used regularly by players on the PGA tour. The new PT fairway metal features a unique taper tip, bore-thru hosel for control. The PT comes in 13 and 15 degree lofts. Due to its smaller size and hosel configuration, this club is designed for the stronger player seeking a lower flight.

This is a great little club. Fairly low trajectory, even with the higher loft (I use a 10.5* 975D driver). This club is more similar to the first generation of metal woods in design (e.g. Tailor Made Burner) but more refined. Small head may put some people off, and I would not recommend for higher handicaps. Has been a joy to use, however, and can''t recall hitting a shot with it that I haven''t enjoyed. Expensive given its simplicity, but worth every penny.

Model Reviewed: PT 15 Degree Stiff Shaft

As an impulsive golf club purchaser, I played with a competitor on Fridayh who had the PT 13 degree and drove his tee shots further than my 9.0 Callaway VFT. On Saturday, I was in the Pro shop buying the only remaining club in stock, a 15 degree PT Fairway Metal. Went right from the shop to the club's driving range and drove the flight restricted range ball about 200 yards on my first swing. Trajectory was low to medium. I'm impressed!! There's no question that a good distance ball (100 compression) can be easily carried 220-230 yards and get plenty of roll. Mishits lose distance, but practice is what will cure that. Anyone buying this club should plan on hitting several bucketfuls each week to ensure they have a strong, full extension, moderate to high speed swing to maximize their investment. This club will drive a ball into the wind like a rocket, keep it low, and get plenty of distance. Practice and control is definitely needed.

Model Reviewed: Pt 3 wood

I lucked out and found a SET of PT, 1/3/5 at a used goods store. First time I hit the 3 wood.... SOLID... boring, flight, held it's line well. I was amazed at how stable the head is, as I'm not the world's most consisent striker.

I get the feeling that the small size of the head tends to minimize your mishits, cos i rarely feel that I *miss* the sweetspot. And don't let the 13 degrees psyche you out, it is EASY to get the ball up, yet at the same time it doesn't sky on you. Even when I do catch it thing, I get enough forward momentum to get 200+ yards from it. And the heritage of the club helps with the confidence department. It has replaced the orlimar in my back which I high higher ( 15 degrees) but I also tend to spray the orlimar more..

try a few hits with a PT.. you'll be impressed..

This is the best fairway wood ever made. As with all titleist clubs, this club is best in show. I used to play the Callaway s2h2, nice club but there was always a tendency to hit it too high. the PT is perfect, I bought it last week, and have played 5 rounds with it. A few times i thought i might have popped it up but not the case. this club keeps the ball below the tree line and it holds its line better then any other club out there. I was punching the ball about 230 into a 20-30mph wind. Solid feel, as solid as it gets. There is no doubt that any 10 handicap or below should buy this club ASAP. Its the best club in my bag by far, that includes the 975D and mp-29's.

Better players, look no further for the perfect 3 wood. This club is amazing with the dynamic golf shaft and bore thru hosel. This was a good club when it was originally released, but the bore thru feature makes it much more stable on mishits. Granted, this club is hard to hit from funky lies, but then again, why would you want to hit a 3 wood from a bad lie to begin with. Trajectory is boring, but the club performs well when you try to hit a high shot that lands softly. This is definitely a club for better ball strikers, though. Higher handicaps should check out the 975F. Wish the price was lower, though.

Yep...that's not a typo...I paid $60 dollars for an original (Without the bore through thingy) 13 Deg. Titleist PT Fairway wood...but only the head...I swear...I was at my clubmaker a few days ago just hanging around like all the customers where. It was a small shop, prices were a litte higher but the service was super great...anyways...I was looking through an old box of clubheads and most of them were clones and were grimey and dirty...and I saw a little lump of silver way at the bottom. Took it out, wiped out the grime and there was the head...I found gold!!! Anyways...my clubmaker didn't realize the how valuable this head was and we agreed on the above price...to make a long story short...a wonderful piece of art, very head heavy so the club tells you how it should be swung and the whole face is the sweetspot so it goes straight every time....I can go at least 240 with this thing off the deck...pure pleasure..no wonder Tiger has it in his bag...I lucked out (again)...

Just purchased this club and found it to be great club. The club creates a nice boring mid-height trajectory. The club stays relatively on line with heel and toe hits but there is a distance loss. The club also gives very good feedback.

Last year Titleist was a little late on the quoted delivery date on my 990 irons, but the order was correct and the pro-shop gave me a set of demos to play while I waited.

Model Reviewed: titleist pt 13 * with s300 shaft

I would always have trouble with my old 3 wood of the tee. Into the wind or with cross wind it was not good. With the pt 13 of the tee the ball is lower and holds itself much better than my steelhead plus. I would only recomend this club for good golfers, this club is hard to hit off the deck but with good results.

Model Reviewed: PT vs. FX

I compared a new PT 13* with my Ram FX bore-thru, my favorite of the past. The Ram is also 13* but has a stock Eximer Gold shaft that has a 6.4 FCM, while the PT was the DGS3.
Distances were similar; I hit everything the same length, sneaky short. The trajectory of the PT was a little higher but still mighty low. I use the Ram because I balloon most 3 woods. Similar shape but the Ram is more deepface and a little smaller. The PT's sole has more sole radius, a good thing. The PT was easier to hit out of light rough than the FX. I prefer look of the Ram mostly because the Titleists' wood plug and non-shiny color. Also overpriced, hence the low value rating. The Mizuno forged 3w, which I also compared, performs similar at ~$150+ less, though design and look are different. All in all, a great 3w for a strong ballstriker with more to spend.

What a great club. Shot trajectory is excellent. Just a perfect boring ballflight. No surpise floaters or high shots. Setup is very clean and easy to line up. Club swings beatifully also, has a slightly head heavy solid, feel to it. Excellent feed back. Most of the other fairway woods Ive tried feel like a balloon on a stick compared to the PT. Depending how you look at it, the only down side is there is little forgiveness with this club. If you miss it your going to know it. Its the forged musleback of fairway woods. Otherwise excellent.
