Taylormade Fairway Rescue 3, 5 & 7
I am a 16.9 hcp, that being playing golf (seriously) for about 5 years now. I am what you will describe as a conservative player (short but straight). I also have a good short game that really makes up for my lack of length/distance off the tee and on the fairway. I tend to shot a lot of bogeys, mixed with 3/4 par and one disaster hole. The main lacking part of my game is ‘hitting fairway woods off the fairway’ hence on long Par 4s and par 5; I mostly opt for my 6i, 5i or 4 (iron-looking) rescue. Fairway woods just do not work for me – I never get it right.

Taylor Made Rescue
I've played the same steel shaft 17 & 20* versions for about 2-3 years now. I love these sticks off the tee, fairway, or rough. I don't think its accuracy out of the thick stuff is too good, but with a smooth easy swing it carries the ball far enough IMO, and the clubhead does glide thru the rough pretty easily. I don't know if it's classfied as hybrid or fairway wood, but the clubhead is bigger than all the hybrids i've seen, which generally equates to more distance compared to similar-lofted/shafted hybrids. It also means more conifdence at address, feels like you have a lot of room for error for the not so perfect moves. It's fun n easy to play a nice sweeping draw, it even lands soft. Haven't mastered the fade with it tho, but I don't practice it or find the situation on the course too much. The chip shot with the hybrid isn't exactly in my arsenal, so I' can't tell ya about its accuracy/feel in that department. I'd really recommend 'em for any common golfer of any skill level, they're easy to hit, versatile, long and probably a real bargain nowadays. Similar Products Used: G5 hybrid

Rescue Fairway 7 23degrees
I picked this club up cheap off ebay. I wanted to try a hybrid before investing much. I don't hit my long or mid irons well and I was looking for something to fill the distance gap between my 5 wood and short irons. This club is incredible. The head is heavy and cuts through tall grass well. The club works best when you hit down on the ball, like and iron. The shots are long and straight. I find this club much easier to hit than my irons and more consistent than my woods. It was definately a great value. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Taylor Made R5 Ti Fairway woods |

taylormade fairway rescue 3 wood
This club is more versatile than a normal rescue club. Off the tee it can go about 250. You can also work it off the deck with a smooth swing in the 210-225 range with a shortened grip. The ball flight is high and piercing and I love the way it drops to a spot and sits there. The lack of roll comes in hand on approach shots and it can save you on doglegs or tight tee shots as well. I think the high ball flight and carry more than make up for the lack of roll off the tee. Rescue Fairway 17* 3 wood
I recently went all out and bought a whole set of taylor made clubs. I had the driver, irons, and wedges. I took my time on the fairway wood purchase at first, because I'm a very long hitter and I don't often require a fairway wood shot. I did want one for flubbed drives, short par 4's, and extra-long par 5's though. I saw this club at a golf expo for $50 new, so I snapped it up. What a deal. I think I will end up using this club a lot more than i originally thought. Every shot is going 250+, sky high, and dead straight. As one reviewer said, it plays like an extra long iron, and stop dead with no roll. This is true. I like this aspect of the club, as it allows me to be very precise with shot placement. Most of the times I pull this club I am trying to reach the green. The price on this club has plummetted to under $75, so I suggest snagging one up while you still can. Taylormade Rescue Fairway 3 Wood
Being a high handicaper, I have trouble hitting fairway woods and long irons especially off the deck. This club gives me an average of 220 yards off the fairway with a draw. I got it with the True Temper regular flex steel shaft which is about 1 1/2 inches shorter that a conventional 3 wood. Just remember to treat it like a 1 iron or 4 wood rather than what the name suggests and you won't be dissapointed. The trajectory is a little high but not ballooning and gives me a little bit of roll but not as long as my previous 4 wood. this club is a great partner for my Rescue mid 19* and looks cool in the bag with the snazzy headcovers. It's just too bad that Taylormade has discontinued this model. According to the salesman in GolfTown (Vancouver, Canada), people were confused about the club whether it was a hybrid or a fairway wood. To be honest with you, so am I but it works. And at $119 CDN, how can you go wrong. Customer Service Not used Similar Products Used: Callaway Hawkeye VFT, Nickent Genex Cross |

TaylorMade Rescue Fairway 3 wood
I've got a couple of Rescue Hybrids that I love so thought I'd give the 3 wood a try. The price drop to $120 is much more in line with what I think golf clubs should cost. Unfortunately it just didn't work for me. It is an inch shorter than the standard 3 wood and 2 degrees more loft (17). And because of the low center of gravity it's easy to get airborne. This is the same physics that built Adams Golf. The problem, at least for me, seems to be that it's also "high spin". Shots hit the fairway and bite like a wedge. That's fine when hitting to a green but I mainly want to use it off the tee on short par 4's and for second shots on par 5's. In those examples I want bounce and roll not hit and stop. If you're having trouble getting your 3 wood airborne and heading toward the green with control this may be the club for you but if you are looking for distance I'd look elsewhere. Customer Service I have dealt with TaylorMade before and they are first rate. Similar Products Used: Callaway steelhead, Ping I3, Callaway Big Bertha |
