The sweet spot on the driver is huuuuuuge. The ball flies lonnnnnnnnng and straight. it took a long time but I finally found the driver that was right for me. I tried the GBB II, R580, Hawkeye, none of them felt right. Although the GBB II very close but not quite the right driver. The graphite design stiff flex shaft is closer to a firm than truly stiff, which works out well for me. If anyone says that they slice this driver they need lessons not a new club. This club hits straight with both eyes closed. In contrast to the R580 with MAS shaft, I found that the Mac offered me a much greater sense of the club head. The R580 was all shaft and flex point.

I got the 10.5 degree driver and the so-called 4 wood (it's more like a strong 3) for a song because the pro is pissed off at the Canadian distributor and is clearing out his MacGregor stock. Great luck for me - these woods are awesome. The first time out, I am finding myself closer to the green on the long holes after two shots than ever before, by thirty yards or more.
I recently bought a set of Tourney MT irons from the same pro and absolutely love them - dead accurate. I've even switched to the stiff shafts after twenty years of playing with regular. MacGregor makes a beautiful product. If you like a clean appearance and no gimmicks, give them a try.

This is a great driver. i sold mine b/c i didn't get quite the distances of my Mizuno Ti Forged and I needed a higher loft, but if you are looking for a better version of the 975D, this is it. Very nice club and stock stiff shaft holds up well to hard swings.

I bought this club thinking that it was a great value ($100 Canadian) and it looked really nice at first. It came with an Adila firm-flex shaft.

When hitting it off the range, I was getting nothing but a big-time slice, one that was much worse than I'm used to. Experimenting a little, I later found that if I gripped the club a little lower, I would hit it straight and the distance was great (about 220 - 240 in cold weather). The club sounds and looks nice, but the shaft may not be the right length and flex, so reshafting might be a good idea. The club didn't cost too much, so I cut the shaft down two inches and it made a world of difference.

Long, Straight and fairly forgiving. Is there anything else you need to hear? I gained about 20 yards (due mainly to the lower trajectory). You can work it if you know how to. Otherwise this club is a good addition to your bag.

One hint; Aldila has notoriously weak shafts, swith out to a UST, EI-70 or a Graffaloy. I put a Dynamic Gold 300S and have never looked back. You will not be disapointed.

I've been looking for more feel and more consistent results than I've had from several 975Ds, and after reading several posts here, decided to take a chance on the new MacGregory Tourney Tour Driver, sounded like it offered more feel. I bought one, and IT DOES.
It's sweeter feeling, longer and more consistent. The head and shaft seem to both contribute to this. I bought a stiff shaft 9.5 degree. It's 30 yards longer than a QuadPro 9.5 stiff, 20 yards longer carry than my 975D 8.5 Prolite, and about the same as the 975D 9.5 with EI-70 stiff that seemed to be the best until now. Only problem was feel, that club is very straight and long. The Tourney is easier to swing, with more reproduceable long results, feels better, and makes me smile lots more. I'm going to buy the 3-wood if I can find one.

Until I tried the new mac driver, I'd been changing drivers like underwear. Without a doubt, this is the best driver I've ever hit. When I'm swinging well, I can work the ball at will with this club. You can hit it high, low, cut, draw in any combination with great control. It also responds well when I lay off or go after it depending on what I need to do. Not extremely forgiving if I'm not swinging well but that seems to happen less often with this club. I could sell these things! Similar to the 975D in workability with more distance and more solid feel. This club makes a distinctive CRACK! when you hit it on the screws that make peoples heads turn on the practice tee.
