Hippo ITX2 Fairway Woods

Hippo ITX2 Fairway Woods

DESCRIPTION

The ITX 2 Fairway Wood from Hippo features a combination of carbon composite with the highest-grade maraging steel which allows additional weight to be centered in the back of the fairway wood, providing a deeper, lower center of gravity which creates an optimum launch angle that produces greater distance. The weight in the head of the club is placed for maximum forgiveness reducing the loss of distance even on off center shots.

I bought the Hippo ITX2 3-wood at a golf demo day. They had Nikes and Pings as well and I wasn't looking to spend $300.00. So I wasn't really looking to do any testing. But the guy from Hippo asked me to try it and when I did, I loved it. Paid $79.00 for it. And the 1st time I used it I hit it 250 yards. I've never hit a 3-wood that far before. And I'm 58 years old.

I've been averaging 240+ yards with it off the tee and have put away my Taylormade 460 because I'm almost never in trouble with this 3 wood. My mis-hits usually still go relatively straight and still give me decent distance.

I loved it so much I bought the ITX2 5-wood even though the 5-wood I had was working quite well for me. I've been hitting this 5-wood at least 10 - 15 yards farther than my old one and with even more accuracy.

I'm heading this week to another demo day to test the Driver and ITX2 irons. That's how much I like these clubs.

Similar Products Used:

Orlimar tri-metal 3-wood. Not a bad club, but not comparable.

Zevo 5-wood. A very nice club but I don't get the distance that I do with the ITX2

Model Reviewed: ITX2-17 deg.

Was looking for a hybrid to use in place of my 3 or 5 wood for winter conditions (i.e., no grass on fairways) but the salesman at Roger Dunn told me all hybrids with less than 19 deg. loft come with stiff shafts because they are "meant for low handicap men". Duh? Hybrids are for people who don't hit long irons well and low handicap men should certainly be able to do that! Anyway, went to a small local shop, Cal's Caddyshack in Costa Mesa, CA and picked up the Hippo ITX2 with a regular shaft and 17 deg. loft for $89.95. I LOVE this club. I am hitting it farther than my 3 wood off bare lies, out of fairway bunkers, out of rough, The ball flies straight and true--not too high, but plenty of loft to travel a long way. An awesome club for the price.

Similar Products Used:

Pinseeker Bombshell, 19, 22 and 26 degree. Good clubs for the money, but have an offset face, which none of my other clubs do, so I have to compensate for that--sometimes the ball goes way left.
