I just got this driver about 2 months ago and living in Michigan just now have about 4 rounds with the club under my belt. This driver absolutely rocks! I went to my local club to go to the launch monitor and being an ex hockey player means high club speed (slapshot) I had the Cobra 440 and this Titliest blows it out of the water. The heavier head and heavier shaft (I got the Fujikura Speeder) puts it straight and long down the fairway...A must buy for guys like me that kill the sweetspot, but had problems with the snap draw due to light club or too wippy of a shaft.

This is actually a review for the 905R and all I have to say is that it's a great club. Wasing playing with a Cleveland COMP, but the Comp just didn't have that solid feeling to it. Don't get me wrong, the Comp is a great driver, but I just felt more accurate with the 905R. Actually, I cut it down about 3/4" and the control is there and I don't really feel like I'm loosing much distance. Hit some of my longest drives with this club so far. Try it for yourself.

This is a great diver. One of the best i ever hit. I own a Ignite 460 and a Callaway 454. Neither of them are of the level this driver. I have the Speeder shaft which is awesome. On the launch monitor I had a ballspeed of 208 mph and a carry of 328yards with a launch of 9 degrees. The ball flies off the face. Right now I'm selling both of my other drivers and sticking with this one. Don't make the mistake of buying anything else. Just get the good stuff right away. TITLEIST BABY!
You've heard this before but this club is for the lower handicapp. You must hit the sweet spot for any real distance.

Model Reviewed: 905T 9.5* and 10.5*

Last year a luggage mishap broke the shaft in my 10* Callaway 454 (which had the stock R shaft), and I had previously hit a buddy's 983K which I liked, and found a good deal on an ex-demo 905T 10.5* YS-6+ R to use while I waited for my 454 to come back with a NV-65 S.

I really liked the 905T/YS-6+,when I put a good swing on the ball, it went straight and long, and when I didn't it didn't slice OB. As I got used to the club, I started to loose it low & left more often than high & right. Started alternating with the 454 (now with the NV-65 S), didn't really see much distance difference, both clubs when hit well yielded rather high ball flight and equivalent yardage (the 905T probably a bit farther with a perfect swing).

I grew a bit irritated with the low/left misses from the 905T, and started thinking about a 905R. So, I made an appointment at a local shop for an hour on a launch monitor.

DO NOT BUY A DRIVER WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING YOUR SWING.

The launch monitor results surprised me a bit. My swing speed was slower than I thought (92-95 mph average) and both launch angle much higher than it should be (20*ish instead of 12-15*) (even with a -1 to +2* attack angle) and ballspin was higher than it should be at 4000-5000rpm with BOTH the 905T and 454.

Started trying other clubs. Found that heavier shafts yielded faster swing speed (counterintuitively, and it surprised the fitter). Adding 10g or 15g to the shaft weight increased SS to 98-101mph. Heavier, stiffer shafts lowered launch angle and spin.

Considered special ordering with a Mitsubishi Diamana 83S. Ended up with a 905T 9.5* Titleist Speeder S (a stock shaft choice); 100mph, 3000RPM, 12.5* launch. Added 30 yards.

Get fitted with a serious launch monitor. Don't just hit balls into a net and buy what 'feels good', it might be ok, but it might not be perfect for you.

Just picked up the 905T, 9.5 degree with the Fujikura Speeder shaft and am in love with this clup. It is solid, has a great sound off the face and the ball flies with a good, penetrating trajectory. I'm hitting more fairways. And the great thing is the price. This is an older model and they are retailing for less than half the original price. Great club and highly recommended. Use the shaft selection guide for your swing.

Customer Service

I emailed Titleist twice for information on club refinishing and still have not heard from them. That was over a month ago.

Got a great buy on this baby on eBay as I do all my clubs. :) This club is a monster. The ball rockets off the face like it's on a mission to mars. This shaft plays VERY stiff, so I've kissed my hook goodbye. Face sets up very squarely and at 400cc, it's not overly large. If I can keep this thing from going right I will be pwning many a PAR 5's. Titleist clubs are for accomplished golfers only.

The ball jumps off the face of this thing. Nice, high trajectory with the 9.5 loft. This shaft feels very stiff, my first few drives cut way to the right. I normally fight a hook, but never hit one with this club. Kind of has a dull sound, but it really kills the ball. After making smoother, more controlled swings, I hit my last 4 drives right down the middle. Make sure you get the right shaft, makes all the difference. As far as the 905T driver head, it sets up square and rockets the ball off the tee, with a high, soaring trajectory. love it.

When I made a good swing, the ball shot of the face like a bullet, low and straight. However, I don't always make a great swing. I hit a lot of balls with this driver trying to convince myself to buy it, but I the results just weren't there in the end. My Hogan CS3 has much more forgiveness and a higher trajectory. I think I'll work on my game another year before I can buy a Titleist driver.

I already have two drivers that I like very much(Cobra SZ400 and SS350 Tour models), however like most avid golfers, when it comes to drivers and putters I can't seem to leave well enough alone. Anyhow, The 905 series drivers are one of the few drivers out there that are specifically designed to cater to the likes of the mid to low handicapped golfers(thankfully). We don't want monster, bulbous, closed faced clubheads hooked up to whippy crap shafts that all seem to claim to be "stiff" flex. What's sad is that its hard to improve your game with clubs that are designed to compensate for aweful swings. Well, getting back to the 905T--this really is a fine club. Like others have said, be sure to try out as many of the available shafts as possible--picking the correct shaft and flex is critical to optimal performance. I think this clubhead is perfectly designed/weigted--square face, no draw bias, weight is low and back enough to make the club easy to swing, yet(unlike most)not so much so that workability or shot shaping is at all adversely affected. I agree with those that say the sound and feel at impact is close to that of the 983K. The bore through hosel makes this club laser accurate, and of the three shafts I tried the NV and YS-6 felt fairly similiar, while the Speeder was noticably stiffer as well as heavier--more suitable for the stronger/faster swing. My guess is that 90% of the people buying this club will probably opt for either the NV or the YS6. I chose the 10.5* loft because I tend to hit the ball low. If you are debating between buying either the 9.5* or 10.5* lofts, I'd go with the higher loft, since you're more likely to clear fairway bunkers and/or canyons.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 905T w/ Aldila NV stiff shaft

Been through a few drivers (Tommy Armour, Bang-O-Matic, Sooo Long) and got disgruntled with either consistency, trajectory and to a lesser extent distance. Confidence is what I am really after in a driver. Only by accident I found an ex demo Titleist 905T 9.5dg with an Aldila NV stiff shaft and a few hits in the nets convinced me it was worth a go - it had a very nice feel and great allignment marks on the top of the head and the face I liked a lot. Since then my first hits on the course were somewhat problematic. I was pulling quite a few of them. I had the shaft regripped with a jumbo grip and now the drives are very straight, long and consistent. Trajectory is penetrating even though it has 0.5dg more than my last driver in loft. Also still very long into headwinds and the like. The club just looks and feels great and I can't remember when I felt this confident about stepping up to the tee. I don't think it's worth its asking price but as a demo I paid about half that and at that price it was good value.
