Titleist 983K Titanium Drivers

Titleist 983K Titanium Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The 983K driver features a 365cc full pear profile. The larger head size compared to the 983E, produces a moderate launch angle and higher moment of inertia for playability. The slightly heel-biased internal weighting and deeper CG produce a moderate spin rate and an easy-to-square face. The result is a highly playable driver with an ideal initial trajectory, and long downrange flight.

Nice, I feel like I can smash the ball with every swing. Beautiful sweet spot gets me right down the middle most of the time. I've noticed atleast 10 yrds further off the tee.

i really like this club. i played a 10.5 degree with NV65 and that was really good, however a brother in law used it and destroyed: idiot marks on top and a dent on the toe! anyhow, i found 9.5 degree head with ys-6 shaft, and this works. hit on a launch monitor at the golf store and the numbers were very good. overall, the feel of the shaft unloading is very good, the smaller head allows me to tee it lower if i want, and i feel the square head visually appealing. i'm not sure how accurate the numbers are, but carry was 270-280, backspin was 2950 which isn't bad for me, and launch was low at 9.2 degrees but i normally hit a 10.5 degree head. if i could do this on a golf course, i would be king of the public courses! i'll have to wait till spring to really try this. hopefully i won't be disappointed! you won't be either. this is a good club/shaft combo.

Used to play off 1 with the hot face 983K but handicap has slipped up to 3 with a 907 D2 over past 2 years.

Resurrected the hot face this winter to see if it was me or the club and am delighted to say it was the club. My mates were impressed with my driving but delighted I would have to give it up come competition time. However, Ive managed to source a legal version with the same Titleist 4560 shaft and its just as good. Haven't tried any other shafts but this one seems to work for my natural low ball flight.

Can't wait for the season to start, this driver is the best: Long, penetrating ball flight, looks good at address, workable and hittable off the deck. Really makes you realise that golf manufacturers are businesses which need to sell new "improved" products which are actually inferior. Bigger is not always better!

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983K driver

Like most of the previous reviewers, I must confirm the excellence of this driver. I had been playing a Big Ben (Hogan) driver that had me nicely in the fairways with good distance, but one day tried the 983K and much to my surprise found that I was keeping it in pretty easily while greatly improving distance. My biggest hits, every now and then are about 340, but I regularly hit respectably long and with this stick as long or longer than the other guys. I also play blades and recommend "Smash and Carve" as the best golf book I've read. The 983K is an excellent driver, long and quite manageable.

I got this 983K last April (2009) after reading reviews, paired them with 980 fairway woods. Love the fairway woods, not so happy with the 983K driver. The driver is not meant for 80s shooters who have sloppy techniques such as myself. 90% of the time I slice it something terrible. New models with larger heads (i.e., 460 cc), and new advancements such as Nike Dymo Str8 fit and Taylormade's R9 ability to adjust the angle of the clubhead really straighten out my shot.

So overall, this club looks great, feels great, great value ($30 on Ebay)...just not for my imperfect driver swing.

I have been playing with the 983k, 9.5 for 4 years now since I started to break 85. Just ordered my second one on ebay for 40 bucks with a YS-7 stiff shaft for my second set at my other home.
The face of the driver is big enough for any golfer, and the feel and consistency of this club is superb.
i think that this is for anyone as long as you pick the correct shaft. A stiff shaft for a slow swinger will kill you with this club.
I can fade it or draw it with ease, it has a boring trajectory.
I can launch it 280-300 but rarely need to hit that big, as 250 is more than enough for me...Callaway steelhead plus 3+ gets me 225-250, so only use when I need 250 plus yds.
Playing smart golf allows me to hdcp at 11 and once in a while break 80. (twice).
Been playing for 5 years.
Awesome club for the money...especilly now in secondary mkt.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983K Driver

This was my first driver. I decided to get a used driver since i didn't want to shell out big bucks if my driving game wasn't up to par. Being a beginner, I had a hard time w/ this driver. It is a lot smaller than the 460cc drivers out there. After a month, i borrowed my cousin's nike sumo. I developed my swing, and the forgivness of the big club head provided me w/ great results. After a week or two, i decided to give my 983k one more shot.

All i have to say is WOW!!! My improved swing resulted w/ me hitting the 983k +275 yards. I can even hit nice draws. I returned my cousins' sumo, and i can't be any happier w/ my 983k. if you can find one, grab it. you won't be dissapointed.

FYI: it was installed w/ the aldila NVS 65 which i highly recommend.

I must preface this by saying that I have begun shooting in the high 70's this year and shoot so probably 1/2 to 1/3 of the time.
I had to give it a 5 due to its being the best driver I have ever owned. There may be better out there, the 909D3 is one I want to try but for the price tag I will probably wait 1-2 years to consider buyine one.
Now to the club... I purchased the 8.5 degree model with ProLite 3.5S shaft and this is the best combo I have ever had. I had a 905T with a Blue Stiff shaft that was a baloon launcher for me. A Cobra F Speed 9degree with NV 55 and 65 S shafts with mixed results (some hugh bombs though, several 320-325 and 1 340yard bomber). I must say though that I prefer the low to mid launch I get. I swing about 100-127mpg, avg 107 though with an easy swing. I get great hang time and boring trajectory that cuts through the wind with ease, such a pleasure to see. I love the roll I get once I see it land 260-270 hards away, even rolling up hills.
The size and feedback is great, it seems perfect after dealing with such monsters as the LauncherComp460 and HighBoreXL. I enjoy the headweight to shaft ratio and have wonderful feedback for my swing diagnosis, the best ever - also due to my studying and practice of the game. I can also bomb it high with a few adjustments. The heel weighting is great for a slight draw but still allows me to hit fades on command and bore through the air unlike some drivers I have hit which have lost 30-40 yards on intentional medium to large fades.
Give it a try, mine was a bit beat up for $45 at Golf Galaxy but have discovered that for $30 Golf Works will fix the paint chips and remove the small dent to the top towards the toe. The face and bottom look great and inspire confidence still to play such a quality driver. Hit a bomb about about 290 yesterday, slight draw into a medium wind, impressed my whole foursome. Many more to come!

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983 K 9.5*

Wow. That's all I have to say. Before this driver, I was playing a Nike Sasquatch 460, 10.5* with a regular shaft. Hated the head, and saw this driver at Golf Galaxy in a 9.5* with a stiff shaft. Hit it against the Sasquatch and couldn't believe the difference. It was 25 yards longer than the sasquatch, and had a ridiculously smaller dispersion range. 35 dollars later, I walked home VERY happy. This thing is a beast.

This driver is the best i have ever hit, the size of the head just looks perfect at setup and the sound is Titliest(beautiful). After reading alot of rewiew on this site i set out to purchased this club off e-bay it had a prolite regular shaft on it, it was cheap and in good condition i was intending to change the shaft to something stiffer which i did, the shaft i put on is an Aldida 65 it turned out to be perfect. You can shape this driver anyway you want, the ball flight is a thing of beauty one bad swing though and its reload time. The average drive i hit with this club ends up at 280 to 290 metre`s if i step on it 310 metre`s. I can`t fault this club, the only negative is they are getting harder to find.
