This driver is the best combination of distance, accuracy, workability, good looks, and overall class out of any driver on the market today, including the 975J. The "J" scorelines are ugly. I have hit every driver that is on the U.S. market, and some on the Japanese market, and the Titleist is the best. The only driver that comes close is the Taylor Made 300, but that driver is not as consistent. Don't be fooled, higher handicappers can benefit from purchasing this driver, because the will groove a fundamentally soung swing and be able to drive the ball more consistently, and lower their handicap. Previous to me owning this driver, I was of the firm belief that equipment cannot change your game, but the Titleist driver does. It hits drives that easily go past spring-loaded drivers. If you are going to purchase this driver, make sure you get the right combination of loft, shaft, and grip. I personally have the 9.5 degree with the Grafalloy ProLite 35+ shaft (S-Flex) and a winn contour RF grip. The grip can be a major factor in the overall weight of the club, so I would opt for a lightweight grip, such as the winn or the golf pride lite wrap. Anyway, this is the best driver there is, and it has been proven on the various tours of the world.

What an outstanding piece of golf equipment. I've tried many different shaft and loft combos with this club, and this is by far the best that i found. The loft and shaft together make a perfect flat trajectory. Don't be spooked by this club thinking that only good golfers can hit it because it is unforgiving. This is totally false, this club is very forgiving. I have also found throughout all of my 975d testing that the underlined loft clubs(the 10 gram lighter ones) feel more solid, and have a better sound when the ball comes off the face. It's a shame that Titleist has discontinued this amazing club. Go out and get one cheap now that all of the equipment junkies are getting their J's and spending 150 more than the good old D.

great great awesome club if you can't hit this club its your fault.im 15 and im tying out for the golf team and i bought this club,i was having a little trouble with it but then i changes the mechanics in my swing and BOOM. the ball just started flying of the face.the trajectory on my 7.5deg gives it about 30 or40 yards of roll at least its ajust a great club.it gives you alot of control to shape your shots. so go get one.Its probably one of the best made clubs on the market right now.

Lots of higher poor players buy this club and then turn to complain about it. They may be having difficulty with the club as to most Titeist clubs are meant for better players (i.e. scratch to very low hndcps). I'd have to say this is one of the best drivers ever made, it looks very nice, does not have a large club head and doesn't promise to fix your ball flight. Most clubs today fix your ball flight (callaway hawk VFT, Adams ect.), instead of spending money on clubs that give you a quick fix get a lesson or two. The 975D is a club that you need to bring your swing to, its a clubs for players that dont wants to hit it 320 yards, but would rather have some more control over their ball flight.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 975D, 9.5 loft, S300 Steel Shaft

I must admit that I was very wary of buying a Titleist driver due to the "word of mouth" that this was a "player's club". However, after pounding balls with every driver out there, one driver stood out from the rest. Also, getting the right combination of shaft and loft was a big determining factor in purchasing this club. The fitter recommended that I go with the S300 steel shaft and 9.5 degrees of loft to maximize my launch angle. It was evident from the first swing that this was the exact club that would make a difference in my developing game. I now stand over the ball with supreme confidence that I will not only find the fairway, but also hit it at least 280 yards. I went on a golf vacation the weekend after I purchased the driver and I hit at least 12 drives in excess of 300 yards (3 rounds of golf). Lastly, the club looks great and sounds even better.

The best driver I ever owned. Traded in a Ping TISI 7.5 with PF 65 shaft for this. I'm getting a longer carry and much more roll. The head is solid and the drives have a much better boring trajectory. Definitely increased distance compared to the Ping which had too high of a ball flight and zero roll.

Finally! A driver I've lived with for over a year. Since it bought it on vacation down South I haven't used another driver, (I've tried a few). It generally hits the ball straight, with good distance and trajectory. I purchase it with the stock factory shaft, but will probably change the shaft to a UST Pro Force 65 to see if it helps hit it a little straighter (the occassional hook creeps in (I know, it's the Indian, not the arrow). Anyway, since I paid about half the going rate at the time of purchase, I think it was a great deal. Like I said, I've tried a number of drivers since, and this one's still in my bag.
