The new ReAx shaft definetly tightens up the misses closer to the center line. This is a really hot face, even more so than the Nike Ignite (my previous driver). The combo of shaft and face has put an extra 5-10 yards onto my well struck drives. Not sure about anyone else but having this driver in my hands boosted my confidence up after a recent inconsistency off the tee with my Nike. I can't comment on the movable weights because I have left them at the Neutral setting and have gotten good results so far.

Customer Service

I got the club at Golf and Ski Warehouse and they will take care of me if TM won't. They took me on the launch monitor even after it was technically closed so they could set up their winter inventory. I've spent some dough there in the past few years and if anything happens to this club I'm confident they'll be able to help.

OMFG!!! Okay, okay...I have to settle down. I just bought this driver about 2 days ago, and man did I rip em!!!!! I cannot believe at how long I can hit the ball. My farthest drive was around 310 yards. This is the best driver I have ever owned. When I purchased the r7 425, I did not have any expectations.... Dam!!!!!! I love this driver, but you have to have a decent swing to hit with this driver, I would not recommend it to any beginner. A friend of mine could not hit the ball well, he has been playing for about 8 months. No need in spending that much money for a driver when you are learning to play.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made R7 425 TP w/ "Stiff" Shaft

It took almost three weeks to get the new R7 425 TP w/ the RE*AX 65 stiff shaft. It was ordered strait from Taylor Made. It is a very expensive club. After playing three rounds with it I have come to the conclusion that the stiff shaft just isn't as stiff as it should be. I normally play a Callaway FT-3 Tour w/ stiff NV shaft. The new shaft in the Taylor Made R7 425 TP feels alot softer than what I used to. Needless to say I lost control of the drives and lost probably 20 yards per drive as compared to the FT-3 Tour. For $799.00 and not offering it with any other shaft I think is a mistake. I could probably play it with an extra-stiff shaft. The head feels good at impact. The extra weights with the TP really can change the feel of the head during the swing. Great looking driver, good feel, bad value. I will go back to my FT-3 Tour and I have given the R7 425 to my father. His swing speed is around 92 mph and the club works great for him. For me I swing on average 110 and its entirely to soft. So be careful. An Aldila NV stiff is great for me. But the RE*AX stiff is too soft. I can't take away from the over quality. The feel is there. But the "stiff" shaft should have been marked Regular.

Customer Service

Overall service is good. I once sent them an E-mail and it took two weeks to here back. I would suggest calling.

Model Reviewed: TaylorMade r7 425 TP, 8.5*, Fujikura RE*AX TP stiff flex

Sorry, but because there is no place for the r7 425 TP, I must post here: The TaylorMade r7 425 TP is the best performing driver I have ever hit. This is a great upgrade from the r7 quad. I beleive the great performance comes from the RE*AX shaft. The shaft feels great, and the less ovaling claim is absolutely true by what my hands tell me. It is more flexible than other Fujikura shafts, but it still feels more stable than the Speeder 757 because it is very low torque. I feel it gives me more clubhead speed at impact. I hit the 425 TP twice as accurate as the r7 quad. It hit two times as many fairways, a stat I attribute to the shaft and the open face angle. I love being able to make a strong release and not fear a snap hook. The 425 is much, much more forgiving than an extra 25 cc's. My mis-hits occur out on the toe, and I see no distance loss toeward until the ball is hit off the grooves. Finally, and most notably, I hit the r7 425 TP 25 yards longer than the r7 quad. My drives increased from 250 yards to 275 yards. I have 8.5* loft and it flies as as high as the 9.5* quad but with more speed and much less spin. The trajectory is very good, although I play Pro V1x and I could probably hit farther with a tad less spin. Visually, the greatest improvement in ball progress occurred on the ground compared to the r7 quad. The 425 TP gets plenty of roll in the fairway when the ground is not too soft. My quad had no roll and was essentially a 250 yard wedge. Huge drives can be found with this driver. My first round I drove a par-4 green from 346 yards. I hit one drive 4 days ago 330 yards. Lastly, almost 1 out of every 4 drives reaches 300 yards. This driver has affected my whole game, as hitting three clubs less into greens makes me a better iron player, and I hit more greens. Also, I find the fairway more often, allowing more options in working approach shots. The ideal player for the r7 425 TP is a high ball speed player. My brother, whose swing speed is 96 mph, can not keep this club in the air long enough to hit as far as his Cleveland Comp. The driver definitely is TaylorMade's first driver with feel in a long time. Fairly easy to work both directions. I can't wait for the time that the RE*AX shaft becomes available to other manufacturers. TaylorMade has the sole rights to this shaft for almost a year and a half, and then Titleist will be able to use the shaft in its drivers. However, Titleist will still have to use TaylorMade's yellow, red, and black paint scheme. The RE*AX will gain popularity immediately.

Customer Service

TaylorMade is very friendly. I once had an r7 quad with a Tour-Spec Speeder757, but something metallic broke off the inside of the head and started shaking around. It was not anything off the weights and it was too large to fall out of the weight ports, but TaylorMade replaced the driver with a brand new identical driver. Fall 2005, the South Florida TaylorMade representative worked super hard to get me the TP driver in the above review before Christmas. He says it was the first TP delivered to a non-PGA Tour player in Florida, and I was very happy.
