Got this club at sale time for $225(aus)with the upgraded shaft. This club has a boring trajectory and when I'm hitting it well it has very good distance. Its up there with the best. Sound is solid with good feel. Tends to fade more than hook. 8.5 loft more suited to a better player who hits it more consistently.

I've been playing the R580 for the past year and a half now, and with all of the technology that has been up and coming I wouldn't dare switch to another driver. I hit the R580 as far as any other I have played, and can work the ball as if it were an iron. When need be, I can hit this driver as straight as an arrow 325 yards down the middle. Not afraid to take a whack at it knowing that it will go where I aim. I've played the Callaway ERC Fusion, the R7 Quad (garbage), and the Cleveland Launcher, and the inconsistency of those three drivers made me realize how consistent the R580 is. Works with slow and fast swing speeds, and would reccomend this now low cost/high performance driver for anyone.

I have owned this club for over two years now, and I cannot praise this club enough. In my opinion, it is by far and away the most forgiving driver I have ever owned. I don't know about you but I've still to hit a new driver since they've become oversized and found it appreciably longer than the originals?? Please feel free to e-mail me recommending a driver that out guns this one, while maintaining its outstanding forgiveness. I played with the R5 N driver for three rounds with similar specs to my R580 and was extremely disappointed to find I could not out drive the R580. In addition, I sprayed the drives a little bit more. Even with the neutral model, the face looked very closed looking down at address. Obviously, being correctly fitted is extremely important. Most of us play with drivers that are too long for us. The manufactures know this but have to compete against one another in the reviews carried out by the robots, so they add length to their shafts knowing that the robot will hit it correctly everytime and adding to the shaft means extra distance. Unfortunately, this does not translate when we take the club into our hands. It becomes heavy and very difficult to control (unless you are 6ft plus and have the power of 20 men strong & true!). You have to balance this however, because the shorter you make the club the stiffer the shaft becomes! Davis Love III plays with a 44inch driver, the Pros know the truth. Oh forgot! I've come down from 12 handicap to 8 since purchasing this driver. I suppose this is not all down to the driver but I'm hitting two clubs less into greens which can only help. Anyway, I'll wrap up by giving this club the 5-stars. I've still to find a driver to better it. You should pick a new one up very cheaply, especially on e-Bay! P.s. In my opinion, the R580XD performance is identical, no distance gained, no distance lost. Similar accuracy! All depends which you like best...

I bought this driver new in June 2005. I have played 50+ rounds with it. It is by far the best driver I have ever owned. I hit this club farther and straighter, with less effort, than any other driver.

I used to shudder every time I pulled my old, crappy driver out of my bag and teed it up. Straight? Slice? 250? 150? I never knew. After I got back into golf this summer I knew it was time for an upgrade. I went out and hit a bunch of sticks and this one was the best value by far. I now swing with confidence, knowing that even the bad drives will be a few yards into the rough and 220 yds out. My first time out in 6 years I put one on the green of a 290 yd par 4 and was pin high on a downhill 315 yd hole. This driver has changed the way I play the game. I was used to approaches with 8 or 9 irons from 120-130 yds. Now I need to brush up on my short game 'cuz I'm having to hit wedges from 80-100 yds! When you consider that you can pick an R580 out of the bargain bin for less than $150, I don't think you can go wrong.

I wrote a review a few weeks ago about a Callaway Big Bertha Titanium. I decided to hit my friend's R580 after golf practice one day and man i was surprised. I hit it about 260 sraight as a bullet. I thought it was a fluke but i was wrong. I have never hit a drive like that before. He hits it a mile with my driver so we switched for awhile. At the prices these are at, i would recommend this driver to anyone.

Model Reviewed: R580 (Grafalloy Blue stiff)

After searching for a year I find that this driver fits my swing best. I already knew that the Grafalloy Blue shaft was the shaft I needed in my driver, just finding a club head that worked for me was hard. I went thru at least 5 to 6 clubs and setteled on this one. I did'nt like the XD as much, did'nt hit it as far nor as straight, plus I got better feedback with this club more so than the others I tried. I think the most important thing anyone can do is find a shaft that is fitted properly to thier swing, and then find the club that works best.

I bought this driver over 18 months ago and it is one of the most reliable in my bag. I hit this so pure and straight (even if the swing is not the best) that it rarely puts me in trouble. Even after trying the new R7 I still have this in my bag as its longer and straighter for me. Plus you can get them for nearly nothing now.

This driver is so easy to hit and forgiving. It is as long as my King Cobra SS 350 (about 260 yards carry) but less likely to mis hit. I find so appealing when playing under pressure in our local league. It is so difficult to hook and slice the ball, even under such pressure. I do not know why, I always hook my cobra 380 in such circumstances. Maybe I might have to trade in my cobra which I love so much!
