Taylor Made R580
After reading all the reviews on this club, I decided to go for a 10.5 degrees model with a stiff Grafalloy Blue shaft. I have been playing uring the last five years with Callaway drivers, and after the first round with the Taylor Made R580, what a difference. I am driving 25 to 40 yards longer than with my VFT, as staright as I was, and because of the added distance, if my shot goes wrong, I am still approaching with a loft iron to the green. In three rounds I had cut 7 strokes already and had the best round of my life. Thanks for all your reviews, they really helped me to decide on this. The Grafalloy Blue shaft is a perfect match. 580XD w/Grafalloy Blue
I'd been playing with an original Warbird for the past 10 years with a regular shaft. I loved this setup in that it trained me to hit within myself and hit the sweet spot to get that sweet sound. Lately, after seeing the abundance of oversized clubs and after hitting the Cobra 350 and the Great Big Bertha II, I felt it was time to upgrade and improve my distance. I tried a bunch of demo's at Goldsmith, and decided on the 580XD, which I then purchased on ebay for a great price with a Grafalloy Blue shaft (s) already on. Let me tell you something, I love this club. It's very easy to whale on and not worry about going long and straight. It is very forgiving and off center hits are well within an acceptable shot pattern. It's a joy to have in my bag and has reduced my game by 4 strokes in the first round. I'm still adjusting to having to use longer tees, but am anticipating better shots in the future. If you're looking for a new driver, try this one out, it's great. I purchased this driver after hitting a relative's King Cobra, and getting hooked on the feel of titanium drivers. Ive never really had a driver of my own, so i figured nows the time. After the first few swings i was hooked. I was allowed to take it out of the store, to the driving range, and i was very impressed. Long, straight, and very forgiving, i was grinning after the first few hits. They were hitting the middle of the net (240 yds.), and dropping down. Granted there were a few weird draws, and some slices, but they were of my own doing. If you have a decent swing, and need a good driver, look no further. Customer Service Havent used it yet. Superb driver! The only thing that comes close is the Cobra SS427, which is about as long but not as workable. You can't go wrong with either, but the R580 earns top marks in distance, forgiveness, playability, feel and overall performance. I have the 10.5 with the MAS60 regular shaft, which is perfect for me. Don't see the need to reshaft. The stock shaft is fine. Played or hit everything else and this one rules! Customer Service Excellent. R580 .860 cor/.830 cor
Before I get too far, I have played both versions of this driver, the .830 and the .860 cor and there is a difference. I currently play the .860 cor version but the following holds true for both models. These drivers are long. They are also straight as an arrow, and if you have the swing for it, draw like nothing I've ever swung. Effortless is probably the best descriptor of the club. It sets up very nicely at address, confidence is a given, feel likewise is flawless on well struck balls even with the stock MAS-2 shafts, which aren't bad in my opinion. The stiff shafts I have in this are a bit weaker than other OEM's I've used, but you cannot complain when the feedback is as good as with this driver. My 10.5 degree has a low penetrating tragectory which seems to never stop climbing, then starts a nice leftward draw at the peak with amazing roll. I've gained 20 yards even on my last Launcher 400 I had and reviewed which I considered long at the time. The .860 cor version is probably 10 yards longer than the .83 cor USGA conforming version. Both are scary long however. Some shaft options that won't dent your wallet include YS-6 and UST, but try the stock shaft, it's adequate in my book. I don't plan on going pro nor could I so I will enjoy the game with the .860 cor version and for those interested, 3balls.com has the BEST prices on these, I've done some research. I even bought 2 of these at $215 and they could be sold as new. Piece of advice; look no further for a driver, the R580 is clearly the longest and easiest to hit, and save some cash by shopping e-bay. Customer Service Have not had to use. TM R580
Bought this with a Graphalloy ProLite Reg shaft installed. I am easily 15 to 20 yards longer with this combo and just as straight compared to the Titleist 975D this driver has replaced. In my first outing, I hit 13 of 14 fairways and was impressed by how tolerant this club was with my bad swings. Easily got used to the oversize head after seeing the ball go long and straight. R580 10.5 with MAS2 reg flex
I have had this driver for 10 months now and after going through bad times with it i have finally become used to it. I am 14 years old however do hit the ball a very long way with a 120mph swing speed. I can often be guilty of hitting it to hard and this creates a push with my inside-out swing. When i swing within myself i hit a long high draw averaghe at 280yds but have often gone past 300yds including a massive 350yds drive at the 13th at Purley chase golf club. The heal when struck sounds awful and the ball goes no where however off the toe the ball flies slightly shorter but with a lot more draw spin and roll than off the middle. The shaft is not great on this club and i would like to get a fugikura 757 fitted but i doubt that wll happen. I would advise this driver for any one and i would like to say that the cobra ss 427 is the worst piece of c**p i have ever tried. i can not believe my cousin waster £250 on that junk. R580
I have been looking for a new driver to replace my TM 320 for a few weeks. I tried the 983K, 983E, R510, R540, Tourstage 350, and the R580. I actually tried the R580 last because I didn't think a would like a 400+ cc head. I was wrong the R580 was the best for me. I still have the stock stiff shaft in the R580 and am pleased with it, However I may try a Graffalloy Blue or YS-6. I liked my TM 320, but have always struggled with a hook now and then, plus the 320 (even at 8.5) hit the ball a little high including a few that would ballon and die. THe R580 at 9.5 has a great ball flight, and has given me maybe 5 more yards. The biggest difference is the R580 is very forgiving, and wants to hit the ball straight. I can draw or fade it a little, but it is hard to hook or slice for me. Bottom line, I'm hitting more fairways with equal or great distance than may old TM 320. Customer Service have not used Similar Products Used: Titlest 983K was a close second, but lack the forgivness. The TM R510 was good and more workable, but shorter and less forgiving for me. |

TAYLOR R580
Just switched over from my Taylor 360 8.5 degree with a Pro Force65 x shaft. Was hitting the ball low and getting good success but felt the head was going dead. I purchased the new R580 with the prostiff x shaft and am now hitting the ball farther and straighter that ever. My good drives are in the 280-320 range up a good honest 15 yards. My off center hits are all about 255-265. My ball speed is about 8mph faster now to an avg of 167 from a previous avg of 155-160 with the old Taylor. I would recommend this club to anyone regardless of skill level. My friends have all hit it and loved it. |

Taylor made r 580
The Taylor made r 580 is clearly one of the best clubs in golf today. I put a penley stealth 70 shaft on it xx stiff because my club speed is 120-125mph and I consistantly hit the ball on an average of about 310 yards. If you have problems with a bad hook or a bad slice get the r 580 it will lessen it quite a bit trust me Customer Service e bay Similar Products Used: titliest driver |
