After playing with the r580 model all last season and never really doing much with it I decided to make a change ,I found a r510 for a real good price so I decided to go for it. I finally got to hit it today and I admitt it doesn't go as far as the r580 but it goes strait about everytime. I can't wait to play off of the fairway instead out of the rough. Very good driver!!

I bought this driver a month ago and all that I can say it's the best driver in the world. The three reasons why are the distance, feel and trajectory. The distance is awesome, with almost all other drivers I drive it about 240 yards, but with this driver I hit the ball about 260 yards every time. To think a driver has so much distance you aren’t accurate? Wrong, I hit about 10 fairways a round with this club. The feel on the driver is great. On center hits it feels great and on off- center hits you can tell. Many people go the 580 for the big head and high trajectory. I didn't because one thing, my high launch angle. It balloons and I end up loosing distance, especially on shots into the wind. Also you can't work the ball. The 510 flies lower so that’s why I got it. I generally fade my driver and I wanted a draw, so I tried out the club with the Ys-6 and a perfect little draw. If you shoot in the 80's or below I would recommend this club to you. I was thinking about getting the 510 tp, but for $300 more, I don't think so.

Just switched from the 975d 7.5 with x-100 shaft...What can I say ? I cant miss the fairway with this thing. I am playing the R510 9.5 with the Graffaloy Blue X. Played my home course for the first time This week and reached the first hole a 550 yard par 5 with a 5 iron. If you buy any club for the 2004 season make it this one!!!! oh yeah I missed the eagle, but made birdie...

This driver is something special; especially for someone with high swing speed and tends to have a high launch angle. I recently have had the titliest 983K in my bag. The ball would fly forever, but I hit it so high that into the wind it would go absolutly NO WHERE! So I decided that there needed to be a change. I had read that the 510TP would low the ball flight and lessen the spin rate. So, I decieded to give it a try. And it lived up tho my expections way beyond what I imagined! The flight lowered and it seems as if I can't hit it off line. However, this driver isn't just for anybody. You need to have a higher end swing speed to be able to get the benifits that this driver gives. With the speeder 757 shaft you need to be careful in the stiffness you choose. It tends to be much stiffer than most shafts, so I would recommend that you get fitted properly. Even though this driver is pricey It is worth it.

Have been playing the Mizuno Mighty Big for a few years and figured I'd buy the Taylor Made and try out the latest generation of drivers. For $115 I figured if I didn't like it I'd sell it on ebay for about the same as I paid. It will not be going on ebay. I took it out today (without any chances to practice on the range) to my regular course. I used it only on four holes, but was very impressed by the yardage and feel. 15-20 yards farther than my Mizuno on the holes I used it on today, with a nicer feel/sound at impact. Haven't used it enough to gauge its workability, but I had no problems with hooks (given the slightly closed clubface). Perhaps not the most forgiving of the R series drivers from what I've read, but a very nice upgrade (especially at the price they are going for on ebay now) if you are looking for a 2003 generation driver this could suit your needs. It has mine.

Customer Service

None with Taylor Made, but 3balls on ebay did a great job. Better condition than described with quick shipping.

None of the other 2003 drivers in production, but it's hard to try them being LH, it's usually buy to try and if you don't like sell.

Out of the three 500 series, the 510 was the best that suited my swing. The head is big but not to huge. I had TM but a rifle steel shaft in it, what a great club. Most of all, i like the sound that echos wwhen you crack one off the screws.Good job TM

WROTE REVIEW ON THE R540,FORGIVING BUT A LITTLE BIG FOR MY EYE. ANYWAYS FOUND THIS CLUB WITH UPGRADED MITSUBISHI RAYON TOUR STIFF SHAFT 68G 2.8 TORQUE, A LITTLE LITE BUT ADDED SOME ON THE CLUB AND NOW EXTREMELY SOLID!!!! SHAFT HOLDS UP WELL ON "GO AT IT" SWINGS... BALL GOES OUT FLAT AND HOVERS. ONLY HIT ON RANGE CAN'T WAIT TO TURN THIS BEAST LOOSE ON A COURSE =) THE LOOKS ARE PERFECT, NOT THE WATERMELON ON A TOOTHPICK LOOK BUT A GENUINE DRIVER PROFILE

I am making a switch to Taylor Made...I was using a Nike 275 CC 9.5 Degree X-Stiff shaft. On a good drive I hit it about 310-320 yards. I hit this club and added another 40-50 yards! Now I know why TIGER went back to his Titleist!

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made R510 TP

Having tried all the latest high COR drivers which I ballooned in the air, I'm finally became the proud owner of a R510TP with 7.5 degres of loft with the X-Stiff speeder 757 shaft fitted, the X-Stiff shaft was needed to meet my requirement to keep the ball flight down. The Fujukura shafts are just so consistent though the hitting area with only 2.5 degrees of torque, but please be aware the speeder 757 is a very stiff golf shaft and I'm loosing some yards in carry for the effect of a lower ball flight. So what's it like: low boring steady flight, in these summer conditions I'm getting 40-60+ yards of run. The club is very forgiving and when I go hard at a drive the flight is still quite low and thankfully I can't hook with this driver, so I'm now hitting the ball very straight. Normal hits 260yrds+ carry followed by 30 yards of run easily, flat-out drives about 280yds with up to 60 yards of run; thing is I'm hitting every fairway and my handicap is dropping, now at -0.4. I actually drove the 420 yard 14-hole on my local course, the ball must have run 100 yards! If you are looking or a low boring flight, give this club a try, it allows you to hit a low ball flight down the middle.
