TaylorMade Mens R7 Quad Drivers

TaylorMade Mens R7 Quad Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The R7 Quad features TaylorMade Launch Control (TLC) - a sophisticated system that permits discretionary clubhead weight to be redistributed in six configurations by means of TLC cartridges and TLC ports. The cartridges are either 2 grams or 10 grams. By repositioning them, you can change the trajectory between high, low, more draw, draw, fade or more fade. Comes with Trajectory wheel, TLC wrench, 4 TLC cartridges and headcover.

I didnt want to buy into the hype over this club, however. The ball flight definately changes with the different wieght settings.I've played at least a half dozen rds.this year under par but 50% of the time I'm hitting my second from the rough.Took this baby to the course yesterday and started off set for more draw (played a fade for 18 years)and played right to left for nine holes.Soon the draw got more severe so i changed to draw and ended up missing 2 fairways over the next 18 holes.Distance was not as good as some of the other drivers I've played but accuracy was a lot better.Club has a very solid feel.Gonna take a while to get used to that ping sound at impact.By all means demo this club,OR NOT if we are playin the same tournament!

The hype is legitimate. I tried out the R7 at a local golf galaxy store, and after about 30 minutes of driving the ball, I can honestly say the weight cartridges REALLY do affect your ball path. Depending on the type of swing you have, (ie a more sweeping stroke, versus a more upright one), the club may or not be for you. It has a VERY deep face, which won't be forgiving if you tend to miss hit left or right of the face. In which case, the 580 XD is still a wider,(but not deeper) face, and probably better in that regard. However if your swing is fairy consistant, the clubs deep face DOES make it forgiving on mis-hits since the center of gravity is low and deep (as far as I know, lower and deeper than the 580 XD even). I chose the 10.5 because my swing speed barely reaches 100 mph, and that is what maximized my carry and roll. However I can effectively change it to a 9.5 loft with a different configuaration. Basically the driver loft can be adjusted LOWER, but not higher, since the cartridges are factory set in the highest loft postition by default. Overall, it's certainly a fun club to play with. And if you have a consistant swing, the configurations can help you with that long dog leg drive on your favorite course. However, for the most part, I imagine most people, myself included, will do very little changing of configuration, unless a particular course or high wind speed dictates it. I highly recommend this club, and suggest trying it out before buying it since the price if a hefty one. Hit em long and straight!

Customer Service

Generally responsive, but Callaway Customer Service in my opinion, is the best.

They say it is the indian and not the arrow, and boy are they right. I have had many of the top drivers in my life, but nothing like this one. I can crank this Quad 7 and boy does it go. I am playing a 10 1/2 degree with the setting as they came. I have never hit the ball this long. I play on a hilly course, and this still rolls out after hitting the ground. I still slice and hook the ball when I mis-swing, but I have never hit as many fairways as with this club. I have found out that this game is much easier playing from the fairway than the rough. I give this club 5 STARS. I have not tried moving the weights yet because I am hitting it so well. I use to play Taylor Made woods along time ago, but left to try others. But I'm back home for good. Try it you will like it.

Model Reviewed: R7 Quad Reg 10.5

I used Wilson Deep Red 10.5 Reg before. Somehow the fade does not goes away with this Wilson driver! I just got this R7 driver 3 days ago and the first time I played 9 holes, I hit 7 out of 8 fairways (the #9 hole is par 3). I set the combinations to be #3 (more draw) and it was amazing enough to see that the fade has gone away. I have to slow down my swing to 95 -100 mph to really feel in control. This driver allows me to focus more on my short game and putting since I don't have to worry about my drives anymore. Yes! I bit on the price but it will be in my bag for a long long time. I am a happy camper.

Have to agree with the comments before this driver is the best I've hit in a long time.I've been fighting a fade/slice of the tee for the past 6 months and set this club up for a draw and to my amazement it did exactly what it says on the tin!!! Very solid off the face, long and accurate, what more could you want, think it'll be in the bag for a while.

There is nothing you can say that truly justifies how great this driver is! I went from a 983k and 460 Launcher and there is no comparison. The r7 is easily 20-25 yards longer for me. Was out the other day and about drove 3 par 4s. I truly can’t explain how this club performs. All I can say is that it is the best. Try it, like it, buy it.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made R7 Quad 9.5 reg

By far the best driver I have ever owned or demoed. I have never struggled off the tee but distance was a issue hitting my previous drivers all about 220-230 yds the R7 has given me an extra 15-20 yds, and has lowered my ball flight for more roll. the four movable weights are very easy to change all of 1 minute maybe and they do change the ball flight quite a bit. the stockshaft a Fuji made for Tm is very good and has a little higher kick point than most stock shafts.I compared it to the new Cobra Comp top driver 415 9.0 deg reg at the range and the R7 blew the doors off the cobra in distance and feel. the R7 would be a great choice for all levels of players. every one I know who has an R7 can not say enough about how awsum this driver is. If your in the market for a driver dont over look this because of the price after you get out a play a few rounds with it it will be worth twice that to you.Just be careful at the range with it so it dosent get stolen. it is already the #1 driver on the PGA tour for good reason.
