The 420 burner is a price point driver meant to go up against the launcher and the cobra. The problem for Taylormade is that the 420 burner is a BETTER driver than the R580 at $100.00 less. The R580 might be a slightly better head, but the burner lite is a much better shaft (Burner lite) than the MAS 60. It seems that TM is moving back toward golf club shaped golf clubs (instead of alien spacecraft looking R5 series...). The 420 burner replaces the european TM XR-03 (very similar in shape, size and performance). It felt nice, nice "tink" (if you like that Ti sound...) Burner 420...Titanium Construction. Titanium Performance. Easy to control, hot off the face, long, and straight, Price Of Steel!.... Go check it out!

A real good value. Very long, forgiving and accurate. A good shaft that plays to stated flex. A stronger shaft than the R580, which costs $100.00 more. Taylormade says that this is a XR-03 that was sold in Europe & Japan with an improved face that takes advantage of some of the technology from the 500 series. MYLauncher 400 is a very good driver, but this one is somewhat better. Probably the best value in drivers right now

What a great club for the money!! Heard about the club and hit it a few times into the simulator at Golfsmith...was hitting 280-300 yard bombs with a nice draw trajectory. Have played a couple of times since and am hitting more fairways than ever. Hit a bad hook that went OB the other day, but stuff like that happens from time to time for us less than scratch golfers. Word of advice, let the club do the work, don't overswing and you have found yourself a driver you can carry in your bag for years.
