TaylorMade 200 Series Drivers

TaylorMade 200 Series Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Borrowing from the advanced design of its titanium cousins, the 200 Steel driver combines state-of-the-art Powerframe Technology and face-weld construction to produce the largest (275cc) and fastest COR steel driver we''ve ever developed. High-strength 455 stainless allows for thinner, lighter construction. This gives us more CAD-design freedom to expand the head size, distribute weight and optimize CG for improved trajectory.

I've been going through large headed drivers like water: HiBore, Cobra L4V, Burner and my well used R5. That said, after a re-grip to a full cord Golf Pride, I returned to my 10.5 Reg shaft 200 steel. Awesome feel, little loss in distance, little dispersion and very workable. I suspect having an additional one on the side (even used) is a better investment. A great club. The 3 and 5 woods are also very solid.

Had this driver for over 4 yrs. now - I think it's the best driver for the money. Awesome distance, great sound at impact. I consistantly outdrive guys with the latest "BIG" drivers - wish rest of my game was up to snuff.

I have had this club for as long as I can remember. I would guess now going on 6 or more years. I have a swing speed over 100mph and can toss the ball 280 on a regular basis. Every so often I go out and see if there is something that I can hit better than it. I would spend $300 or more if I could get either straighter drives, or at least another 30 yards. Up to this point, I am going out again soon, I have not found one. What happen with the review?

I got this to replace my 320 Ti. 30 dollars on ebay brand new. Great driver for the price, if you hit it right it just explodes of the face, just make sure you line yourself up right becuase youll end up hitting it 300 yards right into a tree. I got the r-80 regular flex steel shaft I like it alot. Can't tell you how many times my body was slightly misalligned and i hit a bomb with this thing 300 miles an hour right into a tree. Even my bad shot turn out 190 yard hooks. Your best bet is to send this thing right and draw it back in sounds real nice off the tee too.

Model Reviewed: Taylor 200 Driver S90 steel shaft

I've been hitting the Taylor 200 series woods for two seasons. I have the driver with a 9.5 loft and the matching 3 and 5 wood. All have the stock Rifle S90 (stiff)steel shaft. Now that I've had two seasons to play with them, here's my review. The clubs are brilliant. Hats off to Taylor Made. Perfect combination of technology and classic style. Thinner faces matched with extra hard steel results in impressive power transfer. The driver head is slightly larger than a persimmion head but not annoyingly bulky. I use to completely dispise larger clubheads but the forgiveness the 200 driver offers is a real helper in this case. Rifle makes an exceptionaly consistant steel shaft and I'm glad Taylor has stuck with them through the years. I used the Taylor R5,stock 45" graphite shaft for a short period prior to the 200 driver. I achieved moderate results with it but really got beat up when I played the tougher courses with narrower fairways and more demand on draws and fades. I switched to the 200 series and saw immediate improvements. This driver fit my game much better. The combination of a steel shaft and the shortened shaft length, 43.5", was getting the job done and was much easier to control. Distance is terrific with these clubs and not much different from anything else out there. Using a comfortable swing speed, I average 250-260 off the tee. Hitting plenty of fairways and playable lies from the rough. I've been focusing more on my iron play and not worrying about the drive. Thats been the biggest relief. Its sad to see the line discontinued, but thats how the market goes. I think Taylor produced this inexpensive club so well that it hindered sales of their more expensive stuff. I'm not into trendy, I just like what works. The R5 was a gift from my wife; new for $299. I've been much happier with my $59 200 Steel driver. All that matters to me is the scorecard at the end of the day.

Model Reviewed: 200 TM 9.5 rifle shaft reg

This is updated review on this club. I've had it for almost 2 years now and it's an amazing club. I have not problems keeping up with the guys with their mammoth titanium drivers. Actually, I usually out drive them. My drives average around 250yds and always land in the fairway or pretty darn close to it. The 9.5 has a nice flight pattern. I use the rifle regular flex steel shaft, which is kind of strange since my irons and graphite shaft woods are stiff. It's not over flexy or whippy like graphite. I would buy this club again in a second. I don't understand what happen.

Model Reviewed: TM 200 steel 9.5° S-90 shaft

First off, this driver is a sight to behold. Bought it off Ebay new for only $60. When first hitting it, I could feel the power in the sound- it seems to echo around the earth. However, I had a terrible slice. Still, the slice was consistent and had good trajectory. Now that my swing is fixed, all the consistency is focused to the center, where I regularly slug it over 300 yards. Can't compare distance with other drivers due to inexperience, but one of my best recent hits just shot off like a laser and disappeared. Maybe 9/10 shots make it over 280 within the same 40 yard area. Even though it's only S-90, the low-torque shaft holds up quite well. My main motive to buy it was that it was one of the smallest clubheads new at the time(275cc). Hitting a 250 with a 460cc just isn't impressive or skillful. Also, you don't need a 10 inch tee to just hit the ball. The rest of the reviews do enforce what I've experienced. Once again, the sound of the steel is awe-inspiring; it makes you feel like the hardest and straightest driver within the range or course. Just makes you want to hit some more. Good stress reliever too! All in all- excellent value and consistency, good distance, just a tad heavy(well it's a steel shaft) and a tad small for long drive. But so good I really hope they make an updated version someday

Well I Have had This Driver in my Bag for about a year and a Half and I have to Say it Is a Great Driver If your On. I Would Have to say It is One hell of a Driver If You can hit it, it is One of those Clubs you Either Love it or You Hate It. I got a UST Pro force 65 Shaft On it because i feel they are the Best Shafts Around ( But they do cost a Bit ) The Set up is Perfect for me and I am Hitting it Pretty straight about 230 yards. Very Nice trajectory. Would Recomend it To Any Serious golfer looking for a Good Driver. Not a Huge head But not Tiny. Quite nice for shaping the ball, I Can USSUALLY Draw or Fade it On Command but Thats all in the Swing Aint it?

i have been playing with this club for about a year and a half. The distance i get is excellent. The roll is amazing, and height is perfect. It took me a while to get the height i wanted but when i figured it out it became very concictent. This is the most forgiving driver i have ever played with. Not only does it perform well but it looks nice which is always a factor when i buy my clubs.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made 200 Steel Driver

I reviewed this driver last year, but am coming back with some comments after having played with it for a year and finally gone for a reshaft. I started with the graphite shafted version, sold that and switched to the Rifle steel (I really don't like graphite shafts - too light, they don't feel like real golf clubs). The steel shaft, though it was marked "R" flex, never felt quite right, so I took it to a local clubmaker and found that it was tip trimmed by Taylor in such a way that it was playing almost a full flex stiffer. He measured my swing speed and tempo and we put on a new shaft, a Royal Precision lightweight steel shaft in the proper flex for my swing speed (which increased slightly with the lighter shaft). What a difference! The club feels just right now, I have more feel for the clubhead, and I am swinging with more confidence and less of an effort to force the swing. Distance and accuracy are up. My recommendation: if you like the idea of the smaller head of the 200 series (I certainly do), then buy one cheap on eBay, take it to a clubfitter, and get it and your swing tested. Get fitted for the right shaft for YOU, and you will have a superb driver, very controllable, with plenty of power, at very low cost. Who needs to hit the ball 20 yards farther into the woods? Fairways are where it's at!
