Snake eyes Viper 430 cc
This is a very attractive looking driver, but more than that it really performs. About six months ago I was driving in the 200 to 230 yard range. Since getting this driver I am regularly driving in excess of 250 yards. For example today playing the same par 5 twice (9 hole course) I drove 286 and 288 yards into a slight breeze, figures I could only dream of previously. Brilliant feeling of the ball leaving the clubface and soaring into the distance. This club is highly recommended. Easily the best driver I've ever hit. Viper Ti4 (quad weight)
Viper Ti4 is the Snake Eyes (Golfsmith)quad weight offering to rival the Taylor Made R7. Let me say first of all I've never hit an R7. Being a Brit who has to put up with paying ludicrous amounts for OEM golf equipment in the UK, I've never been tempted to spend upwards of $500 on a driver. That's what an R7 costs on this side of the pond ! I've just purchased a Viper Ti4 custom made for me by a great clubmaker in SC. The Viper Ti4 is a 430cc head in a beautiful deep blue. The head doesn't seem that large to me, but that's maybe because my previous driver was 455cc. The driver comes fitted with 4 weights (2 X 2gm and 2 X 8gm - you can also get 5gm weights from Golfsmith). These are interchangable to promote differing ball flight (high, low, draw, fade, high fade, high draw, low fade etc. etc.). I have mine fitted with a UST Proforce XL 'S' flex shaft at 45" which suits my swing but the yellow colour also looks very striking against the blue head. First impressions of this driver are a) very long b) easy to use c) adaptable d) well made. My previous driver was a monster, the SMT 455DB. Two out of five drives were scary long (300yds+)and straight but the other three could go almost anywhere. With the Ti4 I may be losing 5-10 yards on well struck drives but even those (thankfully few) that come off the heel or toe go relatively straight and a good distance. I'd rather be 240 yds on fairly short stuff that 300 yds in the woods. I was comfortable and had confidence with the Ti4 having hit no more than 20 balls. For me anyway, it needs a conventional setup with ball inside left heel and teed up with half the ball above the crown of the club. Drives out of the sweetspot give a beautiful "cushioned" feel and a fairly conventional sound. No tinny noises or loud thwacks. Off centre hits just let you know you didn't get something quite right. No shockwaves jarring your arms or wrists. I haven't used the weight ports yet simply because the neutral weight setup the club came with gave me back my stock drive (a slight draw), but I've got enough confidence with the club already to change the setup if the conditions really require it. This is a driver that's really given me my confidence back on the tee and the cost ? $190 !!! Customer Service No experience of Golfsmith direct but I can highly recommend Jim McLain at McLain Custom Golf, Cheraw SC as a clubmaker. Similar Products Used: You name it ! |

snake eyes viper cc driver
forced to change clubs as mine were stolen for the third time years. purchased on ebay snake eyes fc-01 set of irons and bought a 430cc viper here in perth australia. i trialled it as a demo for 5 or 6 rounds and was very pleased. it is long compared to my previous 425cc wilson deep red but not quite as accurate but i sure love ripping it. viper has regular uts graphite shaft and suits me. still trying to get my draw back but the club face sits very square so your swing has to put the draw in and not just the club. i love it but the aussie price was quite a bit dearer than the recommended 195 us dollar equating to approx 280 us dollars still if you hit it well who cares and also i paid full price for the demo model and let the pro keep the new one. when it works do not take chances. congrats golfsmith i love it. getting good results with the irons but they are taking a little more time to come to grips with but the really clean hits fly and i can work them both ways.
