I tried this a bunch of drivers during a demo day here 2 weeks ago (TPC Heron Bay in FL) and through them all, I found the Ping to be the best. The Calloway BigBertha 454 was very close. Fast forward a week or so and I played a round with it. .I love this thing! I bought the 11.5 with a prolaunch blue 65 shaft (grafalloy). I got a 49 on the front 9, which is horrible (43 on the back), but it was because of aproaches, not the drives. The drives made me not care about the aproaches and The sound when the club hits the bal is so rewarding!!! The club is so lite, and I would recommend to anyone. As others have said, here, you should demo it before you buy to see if it is a fit for you.

Customer Service

The ping guy at demo day was really helpful.

Model Reviewed: Ping G2 Driver

Traded in my Cleveland 460 for the Ping G2. At first I purchased the G2 with Graff Pro-Launch Blue shaft. Distance was better then the Cleveland 460. After a month or so with G2 and the Pro Launch shaft I wasn't happy with the consistency. Went back to the store that now has a Vector Launch Monitor. I hit my G2 with the pro-launch shaft and every other driver in the store (Cleveland Comp 460, Cobra 454, Callaway 454, Nicklaus, Taylor Made R5 & R7 and a new Ping G2 with the stock Ping shaft. For me the G2 with the stock shaft was the longest club and more importantly more consistent. As stated several times in these reviews. Give the Ping G2 a try, great driver at a great price, but go to a demo day or launch monitor and get fitted with the correct shaft. The pro-launch Blue & Adlila NV shafts aren't for everyone.

This driver is totally awesome. The distance is top drawer. The accuracy is super, I cant believe how easy it is to keep the ball in play. To hit this club o.b. would take a rabid swing. The half moon alignment aid makes it easy to align the club. The trajectory is high and levels out (no balloning) Balls hit all over the face tavel far, very forgiving. I would recommend this club to anyone. Be sure to get fitted on a launch monitor. This club really makes the game to easy, I think the maximum head size should be taken back to 350cc.

Customer Service

I've used pings customer service twice before and they are first rate and fast.

Model Reviewed: G2 Stiff 10*

I will begin by sayng that, after the improvement I've seen in my irons play after having had them fitted, I will never purchase another golf club without having it properly fitted. That being said, I do not believe that any conforming driver I could purchase would give me significantly more distance on a good drive than my Titleist 975 FE. I have noted, however, that there is a strong potential for more forgiving and consistent drivers out there. Enter the G2. I tied one out of the demo bag at Golftown and it is a cannon. With a very smoothe, slow-tempo swing I was taking it 275 yards, but stright down the middle...over and over. The amazing part of this is that it was with a stock stiff shaft and a 10* head, which is something I would never use because I have a high ball flight. The shots were high, but long. They had an 8.5*, which is the same as my Titleist, but I didn't try it (it was new on the rack). This driver seems to offer consistently straight distance with an effortless swing. It doesn't hit any longer than any premium driver I have tried, but I would saw it is the easiest to split the fairway with on a regular basis. It feels really solid at impact, and the head doesn't feel like it's ringing the shaft around like so many other 400 + cc drivers...don't know if it is worth $480 though.

Customer Service

Heard they are the best, hands down.

I got fitted using a Vector Launch monitor. This club performs very well. Got the prolaunch 65 stiff shaft with the 8.5º head. (I usually play a 9.5º.)Swing speed is 107 MPH. The prolaunch shaft with the lower lofted head launched it a 15º for me with the best backspin (2750 RPM.) Dispersion was very tight. I did gain 14 yards over my 983K, but that is because this was fit using a launch monitor and the titleist was not. The Ping has an excellent pop off the face and the sound rings out to let you know when good contact is made. Make sure to get fit with a launch monitor, it makes a big difference. Same clubhead with an Aldila NV65 stiff for me was 5 yards shorter, due to backspin rate alone! Terrible headcover- this club deserves a better cover!

Customer Service

Never had a problem with my Ping clubs. When I've had a question they have been very good.

Model Reviewed: Ping G2 10* nv65r and prolaunch 65r

i recently attended a demo day to test out these drivers. the head feels very nice when hit good, and even when it isn't hit that great too. forgiving on mis hits, felt like i could hit any fairway regardless of how i hit it. the aldila nv version went the longest for me, the ball launched high but with low spin. the prolaunch felt like it had a softer tip, and it went a bit higher and spun the ball more, which caused my mis hits to go more offline. distance was unbelievable, of course i'm also comparing it to my 975d, but i still felt like my mis hits went really far. don't buy this driver because of the reviews, but i do suggest going to a demo day for yourself and find out how good this club really is

Model Reviewed: Ping G2

Was in the market for a new driver to replace my Nike Forged 350. Was partial to the Taylor Made R7, however, decided to try all the new models. After hitting all the new clubs on the simulator, the Ping G2 was the clear winner. Other clubs tried included TM R7, TM R5, Cobra 440 SZ, Callaway ERC, Nike Ignite, Titleist 983K, Cleveland Launcher. The stock Ping shaft did not appeal to me and after testing the Aldila NV 65 and the Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue, the Prolaunch seemed the best choice for my swing. The weight of the club is just right and the club seems very easy to square. Just to be sure I had chosen the right club I tested the clubs again on a Vector launch monitor at another store and again the Ping was the standout. The spin rate was lower than the other clubs and the dispersion was very tight. The salesperson remarked that he has had a lot of college golfers switching from Titleist to the G2. The true test, however, was at the range - ball flight was high, straight and far. I am able to hit the ball further than before (probably 30-40 yards further than my previous driver) and my shot shape is either dead straight or a slight draw. I usually had a fade on my drives, or a slice....but never a draw. I can't believe the difference in my overall driving. If you are in the market for a driver you have to give this club a try. Ping also offers the Aldila and Grafalloy shafts at the same price as the Ping shafts. Nice club, fair price, and great results - this club deserves a 5+ rating.

Customer Service

Salepeople were very helpful. As for Ping - can't comment, have not required their help.

Model Reviewed: PING G2

Read from other reviews in this forum and the hot pick of 2004 from a golf magazine which graded the G2 as highly recommended. OK let's give it a tried and got fitted from the PING Fitting Centre. Finally chose the G2 with NV65 Regular flex. Oh...unable to believe the control and distance gained by using this driver is excellence. Although the sound of this driver is not as nice as the R7 and Corba but who cares about the sound ? Distance is more important., I used to hit 230 yds with my R7 but now a 15-20 yds gained from G2. I didn;t like the design of other PING driver, but this one is beautiful and forgiving.

Never Tried.

Model Reviewed: Ping G2 - 10.5 Deg NV 65 Reg Flex

Before the G2, I was using the Japanese specs Cobra SS driver 10.5 deg with a very light (50 grams) low kickpoint and high torque Graphite Design factory shaft. It was pretty easy for me to hit a hook if I lose my tempo and hit it a little harder, otherwise, the results is pretty straight (slight draw) with high launch angle. I was looking for a driver that has heavier shaft, and (hopefully) can contain my tempo. I was basically sold by the cosmetics - simple and classy looking club head with awesome looking shaft ( a tad heavier at over 65 grams and lower torque). Took me a while at the driving range to get the hang of it before I dared to bring it out on course. I do not want to be seen as being too hasty to give a review. Finally, was able to get the best out of this combination of shaft and club head. Only missed 1 fairway in the entire front nine as I hit the driver for every Par 4 and Par 5 (back nine got a bit lazy with the swing though... lost a couple of balls towards the right). I never hook a single shot at all... So now I know when I miss a shot, I can only miss it right. As a medium height asian, I can drive this straighter and longer (255 yards now compared to 245 yards before). For me, this driver is much more consistent. I do not balloon the ball as I did before (mid-high trajectory). It has a very nice sound at impact, compared to the duller TaylorMade or Callaway drivers. I think you need to have a decent swing to squeeze out the best from the good shaft. For those fellas who have written a less than satisfactory review of this driver, don’t give up so soon. Make sure your swing comes to a nice balanced finish position and commit to your swing, you should be able to get a really good strike on the enormous club face. Get help from a Pro! On the downside – Not the most forgiving driver if your swing is still “work-in-progress”. I suggest that you get the lighter and higher torque PING stock shaft instead of the NV or the Pro-launch shafts. Ask your PING club fitter for advice. While the club head is 460 cc, I find that my previous Cobra SS driver (at 370 cc) has a bigger sweet spot. Hence, again, you gotta be spot on with your swing and impact position. Once you get it, you will be rewarded! Now I can't wait to get to the golf course!

Customer Service

Bought the G2 driver from Winston's Golf (Singapore distributor) - they promptly change the grip size. Potential buyers in Singapore take note: for some strange reason, all the drivers sold by Winston's come in Aqua color-code grip. This is one size smaller than the Standard White color-code grip. So, make sure you at least get the right grip size... and of course, test it out to choose the most appropriate shaft to match your swing!

Model Reviewed: Ping G2

Tried the G2, didn't have any problem with the cosmetics of the large head but it just did not work for me. Hit it straight with good trajectory but lost distance over my present driver (PureFit with Harrison Striper J Titanium). Ping shaft just not good enough, think the ones fitted with Aldila NV will be better but could only try Stiff in this model and this was much too difficult to get away. Guess if I put the Harrison shaft into the G2 it would go, but would it go any better than the PureFit ??
