I just started golfing 10 months ago and never thought I'd be able to hit a driver. I bought a few different clubs (listed below), but always ended up hitting my 3 wood off the tee. After reading all the reviews of the G2, I decided to give it a try. My driver is now my straightest hitting club. Unlike many, I haven't found a huge change in distance from previous drivers; but, I found a HUGE change in accurracy. Before, I would be playing from the woods if I tried my driver. I had a 20 - 30 yard slice on 90% of my drives. I played 9 holes with the G2 last weekend and hit 7 / 8 fairways. I ended up with a 42 on 9 holes that usually leave me closer to 50. The one drive I missed was still playable. It takes effort on my part if I want to slice the ball with this club. Even on mis-hits, the ball is still straight and doesn't lose any more than 10 yards. After going through Ping's webfit, I ended up with the 10* Grafalloy Blue setup. I now have the confidence to hit my driver on any hole, no matter how tight the fairway may be. I don't know how a scratch golfer would like this club; but if you're just starting off, I'd say this is the way to go. And at $300, you can't find a better value.

Driver reviews can be decieving. If you go to the range with a bad swing, no driver will help you, so don't give it a bad review! The Ping G2 is a blessing. Anyone that disagrees should get clubs at Walmart. The Ping might be a little odd to look at , but when addressing the ball , it looks great. The best thing about ping is their Demo days, someone there will know how to get the most out of your swing, maybe things you didn't consider. For anyone to give this a bad rating i say this," How can you complain about getting a Driver of this qaulity and experience for the price, its unbelievable!" Thats all i have to say.

I'm in love. Let me tell you that there is a reason that 99% of the reviews on here for this driver are glowing. I would do a Ping commercial for free......I hit the G2 with the NV 65 shaft in March in a golf shop into a net. Just the feel told me right away that this was another level from anything I'd hit before. There is a distinct crisp, powerful feel and sound. I put this club in the back of my mind as something I would consider if I could hit it on a monitor or on a range.....I don't like to buy without hitting (besides just into a net). However, when I saw Golfsmith's promotion, it basically became a no-risk deal so I ordered one. I used to be happy with a 225 drive down the middle, rarely going over 235-240....short but straight. First day at the range with the Ping, I hit 5-6 balls off the end of the range (265ish). First round with this driver I was farther than I'd ever been on 3 out of 9 holes. Since, I've played about 5 18 hole rounds and, while I did have a snap hooking phase, I've ironed kinks out and am in the middle of the fairway and anything under 250 is a disappointment. I have had many drives of 260-285 down the middle....UNHEARD of from me in the past.

Model Reviewed: G2 10* Aldila NV-65 R

Had it for a few weeks but found it hard to control. Size feels bigger than other 460cc drivers; found it hard to square the clubface due to the size. "Moon" graphic on the clubhead was more distracting than anything - I tend to tee it up closer to the toe, since I tend to extend my arms during the downswing a bit and teeing it up where the "moon" is would result in a heel hit - so the graphic was not very useful. Teeing it up perfectly center is not necessarily what many pros or amateurs due, unlike, say, with a putter. Shaft was quite responsive for the clubhead size, but offcenter hits were rather dull. 10* loft had me hitting the ball very high, and the lack of a 9* was a downside (didn't want to go to 8.5*, which would normally be too little loft for me). Perfect center hits were quite long, while offcenter hits were weak high-right misses or left-leaning low screamers. Slower swing speeds may find it less long than other drivers. Great value with exotic shafts.

This driver delivers what every golfer is looking for off the tee, length with forgiveness.I demo'd all the new drivers out there, even in different shaft combinations, and the G2 was the club I kept coming back to. I don't have access to a launch monitor, but I was able to try the g2 with the graffaloy, the aldila and the tfc 100d. They're all good shafts but for me the stock tfc shaft seemed to be the most consistent.Bottom line, unwrapped it, went out and played 9 at my home course and shot 40 (2'nd best 9 hole score to date for me.....best was 38)I'm really looking forward to the rest of this season. This is hands down the best driver out there this year, as a bonus it just happens to be the best value!

Model Reviewed: Ping G2 Driver

Let me start by saying that I have a problem with drivers. I play this game just about every winter where I convince myself that I need a new driver, and convince my wife that that new one is really the old one. I figured if I bought a 460cc driver, I would have reached the technology pinnacle. I bought the G2 in a 10 degree with the stiff Graffaloy Prolaunch shaft. I've had it for about 3 months and have played about 10 rounds with it, and been to the range maybe a dozen times. I made the same mistake many others make during the winter. Going to the golf store, hitting clubs in the simulator, buying drivers because it's cold outside or you're bored. I traded in my GBB2, which I was very happy with. I really don't see what the hype is around this driver. Easy swings (as some other posters have prescribed) don't do much with this club. When I swing really hard, I can get an OK result, but I'm still not thrilled with either the ball flight, distance, sound, or feel. The ball is either straight, faded, or sliced. The slices are very high and don't get much distance. The fades are decent but my 3 wood seems better. The straight balls don't seem to explode off the face like my GBB2. I cannot hit a draw with the G2 for some reason. The sound is very loud! I was finding it hard to hit at the enclosed range by my house without flinching. The feel isn't solid or crisp, kind of heavy and clanky, with some vibrations running through my arms. Bottom line... Average distance Bad accuracy Good looks OK sound (if you like to scare people) Good price ($300) for a "top of the line driver" There's always next winter...

Model Reviewed: Ping G2 (8.5* with stiff shaft)

For years I played Cobra Drivers. Always liked the feel and still do. However, I went to local Golf Galaxy and tried new Cobra against Ping G2 on launch monitor. Ping was hands-down winner on both distance and accuracy. I have added 25-35 yards to my drives. My buddies can't believe it. Even on offset hits I am still hitting much further than my old Cobra. I love this baby.

This is one awesome club. I was previously using a Nike Ignite 460cc and this club outdrove the Nike by about 15 yards. The best shaft option for me is the Prolaunch 65 in regular flex. Low torque, great feel and Longgg. The ball jumps off the clubface and consistently down the middle of the fairway. Great Club and worth the investment.

Model Reviewed: Ping G2 10* NV-65 shaft

This club can't be legal. The first ball I hit w/ the G2 jumped of the face with a frozen metalic sound and soarred higher, longer and straighter than anything I've ever seen. The NV-65 is likely to be the best shaft for the majority of players. My swing speed is 110-115 and I tried the stiff version for stock, NV and Graf blue shafts all with 10* head. The graff blue sent the ball into orbit - way too high. The stock shaft isn't bad but why go with stock when you can get NV for the same price? Setting up with the club is quite an ego boost - it looks great! Definitely use a luanch monitor to get a feel for what shaft/club head is right for you. The right combo will get you a driver that can carry the ball high, straight and long - seriously added 20-25 distance when hit straight. Ignore what you're heard about it being difficult to draw/fade. I spent 30 minutes on the range and can work it better than a 6 iron. On the course I was able to play every dog leg and keep it in the short grass with a draw/fade or straight over the corner. By teeing it lower I was able to keep the ball low and a climbing traj. reminiscent of the old Taylor Made burner days resulted. I'm amazed at this thing. Go get one.

Customer Service

Went to 2 shops to use different luanch monitors. The one I purchased through shouldn't receive a dime in commission. I had three swings and he sent me out the door. Kept the receipt just in case. Glad I didn't have to go back. I've worked with Karsten and crew a few times in the past and they were excellent.
