been out twice with a 9 degree. ball explodes on impact. adjust to a nice easy swing, and still get big distance.my bad slice is still there, but now it's atleast playable (it's my bad mechanics, not the club). sweet hitting club

Model Reviewed: Tri-Metal Driver 9 degree deep face

This club is available from E-tailers online now for $169. The first time I tried the club I didn't like it at all. Everything seemed to go to the right and short. The club has a very "hard" feel to the clubface and a very distinct "Clink" when hit. The second time I used it I hit it much better with greater distance and much straighter. I bought the firm shaft and possibly should have bought the regular flex. The club has a nice look when set behind the ball but at 45" may be a little long for shorter players. I don't really see any fantastic results with this club that justify the hype. I considered an Adams FC series but was attracted to the closeout price of the Trimetal driver, now that the new TriMetal Plus has come out at a much higher price. I am also having a hard time with the hard feel and the "clink", the Wood Brothers driver I was using had the sound of a persimmon club with the results of metal. I seem to like that better. I advise not to buy a TriMetal without finding a shop that will let you try a few balls first.

Very Easy to hit off of the Tee. Goes a long long way. Better than anything else I tried.

Model Reviewed: Orlimar 7.5 - Firm

Great driver. Used it yesterday for the first time. Very sweet and long. Gained 15-20 yards. The ball jumps off the face and the 7.5 degree loft keeps the ball farely low. Great feel-I had know problems working the ball. For the money, definately the best driver out there. Real high handicappers may want a larger more forgiving driver. Got mine on Ebay. I never hit one before, but read good things about it. For only $60 bucks, I figured what the heck. Now considering looking for an Orlimar 3wood.

When I first bought this club, I loved it, swang smooth and easy, drove 245+ with accuracy. Then I steped up my swing, and broke the regular flex shaft. Replaced it with the Firm flex, and ended up slicing alot, then I broke that too! NOW I now why. The OEM regular flex has an RSSR rating of 65 - 75 mph, and the firm is only 70 - 80! What kind of garbage is that? This club is a cannon with the right shaft.

Currently, I have a Adila Low Torque 4.0 shaft, trimmed tip stiff, and I literally put on a show at the driving range. My handicap has dropped about 5 strokes. I am hitting drives that carry over 260 yards, average, and will hit three or four a round that roll over 285. Thats a 40 yard improvement from the shaft alone, and I am getting better. I recently drove a 295 par 4 on a local executive course.

I would suggest a club with a True Temper EI-70 stiff for the hard swingers. I met a guy with with a Pro Force 75 stiff shaft on one of these, and he was driving like a pro, over 300 yards.

Boy, did Orlimar's marketing department miss the boat on this one. They tried to sell them as a game improvement clubs to high handicappers with those weak shafts. Too bad, because it is now out of production. However, you can pick them up on E-bay for 50 or 60 bucks, and thats a steal.

Model Reviewed: Olimar 7.5 degree driver

I did not like this club when I first took it to the range. Started woorking it into my game gradually to replace my Goldwin driver and must say it is equally long. Notice a little difference in forgiveness for off center hits (the Goldwin is better , mostly due to larger hitting surface), but I get more roll with the Olimar. Understand one of olimars marketing angles is hitting this club from the fairway, which is very difficult with this club due to the loft. In general, a worthwhile $50 spent for a quality driver.

After picking the game back up after a few years off, I was really having a hard time getting my swing back. Picked up the Orlimar and let me say, man, what a club.

Hit it consistantly in the 250-300 range, although the low design of the face led to the adjustment of teeing up lower than normal.

Excellent driver.

Best driver ever. Longer, straighter and best of all, my swing didn't have to change to suit the club! It's the only driver I've ever actually noticed a difference with in both distance and accuracy. The face feels nice and soft and even off-center hits go forever. Doesn't correct my slice or my occasional pull hook, but on average my game has improved tremendously. I see no reason to graduate to the TriMetal plus series, except maybe in the fairway woods. I've actually hit 6 rounds in the low to mid-80's this year! It's amazing how it can build confidence to be in the fairway more often from the tee.

Great Driver. Very forgiving, good distance and awesome price. I would buy it again if need be.

Customer Service

The price I paid was for the older model club without the EI-70 shaft. It broke at the range, so I sent it back. It took a month to get back to me, but they gave me the new model with the EI-70 shaft for free, so I was very happy.
