Model Reviewed: Nike SQ 10.5 Stiff Diamanta Shaft

I'm a 64 year old golfer with an 8 handicap carrying a pacemaker/defibrillator and a bad back-otherwise, a normal golfer. My swing speed is from 100 to 105 mph and have been on a quest for the ultimate driver since I got back into golf over a year ago. I have tried just about every new driver, swing weights and shafts etc. I have always avoided the Nike SQ because of the looks for over a year and finally said what the hell, give it a try. I bought a SQ 10.5 Regular and was so impressed that I bought 2 other SQ Drivers on EBAY ranging to a SQ Lucky 13.The Lucky 13 with the Stiff Diamanta Shaft is my favorite when my back hurts and it launches the ball long, not too high, and very straight without a GPS Guidance system. I can even hit the Lucky 13 off the turf and therefore eliminated my 3 wood and carry 13 clubs.
It was easy to get over the looks when the SQ performs without a hitch. My confidence is high on every fairway. The Diamanta shaft that Tiger uses is expensive, sells for ARO $275, and Nike had to get a heck of a deal since the driver sells much less than all the $400 clubs on the market. Heck of a Deal and the deals on EBAY are even sweeter. Before you buy, go to a local proshop, have them tape up a couple of demos and go to the range. I did this and several friends are not proud owners of SQ Drivers. Enough Said....."Just Do It"!

I purchased this club last Nov when it first came out. Thought after a year of use it's time put a review down.
At that time this driver was great, my swing still needed some work, but the driver was great.
Now my swing has improved and this club has gotten even better. I'm driving the ball at times 300+ leaving everybody in my group way behind. It's nice to play driver/wedge golf on par 4's and having a chance to go for the green in 2 on par 5's.
Still have the stock stiff shaft on this club, but thinking of changing it to the green NV-65 shaft.
This is a great club, I recommend it to anybody who wants that extra distance with less effort. I have tried other drivers, but they don't compare to this one. This one is staying in the bag for a long time.

Picked up this driver on a Friday after work. Saturday morning I went to the range to try it out. Low and behold, on the very first ball that I hit, it went out of the range.

Did notice however that if you try to muscle the club and try to swing with the power of Zeus, results will be worse. Just swing easy and le the club work, you'll be in the fairway.

I took it out on the course later that day, and to my suprise it was easier to hit than my 3 or 5 wood. It is very hard to work the ball, however. Tried to move the bal left to right on a dogleg right par four, instead the ball went dead straight through the fairway over 300 yards.

I am 13 years old and looking to get better at golf. I was using an ancient set of my dad's clubs, and I knew I needed new equipment. I saved up some money and went to the range to try a few drivers. I tried the SQ, G5 and R7. Sasquatch won by a long shot. As advertised, it is long and it is very forgiving. It is also very light and easy to control and(for me at least)very visually appealing. I was able to pound several range balls 250 straghit down the middle. I'll definatley be able to break 90 with this monster.

Also, like all nike products, it is very affordable compared to some of the other new drivers. I was able to get the Sasquatch brand new on the web for only $232. Great product, great price, Nike has me hooked. I am now considering a new set of Nike Slingshot irons to go with the Sasquatch, those irons look cool.

I have always been a clone golf club supporter. So, I rarely go with a name brand but, a year ago I tried the Nike Ignite 460cc, 10.5 degree driver and man, I was killing it 250+ and straight. It really impacted my game. I have gone from being overjoined with a low 100 score to getting upset if I don't hit my average of 88.

My wife, a Tiger Woods fan, decided I should try out the SQ. I woke up on my B-Day to find my Ignite Driver was missing from my bag and the SQ was in its place.
Now most respective golfers will tell you that I should have thrown her out!

Why would I want to switch drivers when I playing better than ever???

After calming down...

I gave it a shot and took it to my local pro to get the club customized to my profile and went through my usual 2 hour club test at the range. WOW!
Not only was I hitting it long and straight but, I found myself not having to swing out of my shoes to get better results than my Ignite!

The 460cc clud head is huge but not distracting. I feel like I can hit this thing with my eyes closed. Miss hits are still playable and long. Rarely slice the ball anymore. Easy to square at impact.

Give it a shot. This is definitely the driver to try!!!

Lady Golfers Please Read:

After reading some of the reviews regarding this club I had to add some comments. I have been playing with this club since it first came out. I tried it at the pro shop on a ball flight monitor with a few other drivers and the SS gave me the best results. I have only been playing one year but I play 2-3 times a week and take lessons. I am holding my own out on the course. I have driven the ball as far as 220 yards and just yesterday (again) I drove a straight 200 yards down the fairway. My girl freind was using a Ping G2 HT and after trying my SS a few times she went out and bought one because she consistently gained 20 yards. She drives all of her balls straight, with every club including the SS. I even went out and got the new TaylorMade r7 460 11.5 because of the hype and returned it. Yes it's a good club and yes I hit more fairways with the r7, but the distance was not there like the SS and the ball flight was way too high for me, even after working with the pro. You need to learn to control the direction of the Sasquatch. You can't push this driver. You have to take it back slow and it will fly, straight. My pro tried my SS and he hit ball after ball straight, with a women's shaft no less! He even faded the ball slightly. He suggested that I go for distance and learn to work the SS.

The ball really does explode off the club face and I believe it is the best driver for high handicapers looking for distance. Nike did a good job of dialing in the club and Diamana shaft for the women's model. The grip end is small and doesn't feel like a baseball bat like the TM did (TM stock shaft). If the fairway is wide then use this club. If the fairway is narrow you should probably be using a 3 wood or another club anyway. The pros don't use their driver on every hole. I am going to order the SS 3 wood next myself.

I like the look of the club. I like the fact that it is a tad shorter than a standard driver. It gives me more control. I do think that Nike could have done a better job with the head cover though.

So IMHO if you are a new golfer with a slow swing speed and can control your back swing (slow it down) then this is the best club to get the ball out there, way down the fairway past your playing partner's balls. If you muscle your club, get tense and try to force it then you better stick with a club that is going to fix your slice or hook, like a club with weights in it. Try to find a demo days or a shop with a ball flight monitor. Buy the club that fits you best but definitly try a SS while there.

I wrote Nike before I chose a driver. They were honest and said I should go to a test center a try and determine the best loft for me.

Let me start out by saying that I used to play, play alot and shoot in the high 70's and low 80's. Then my eyes went bad. I have detached retina's which have been put back together the best they can but my depth perception is poor. Well anyway I sold my ping zings(woods and irons) and foresook golf. Well the bug bit again and I purchased some garage sale specials. After 20 rounds all in the 100-110 range. After many reviews I purchased this driver over the internet without even testing it. Today I went to the range and HOLY MOLEY! All I had to do was make contact and the club did the rest. No joke, this is one great club. I know I will be able to break 100 no problem, and I know that I will even break 90 again. THis club is easy to hit, end of story.

This club only seems to have one shot in it--250+ straight in front of you. No matter what you do. For most of us (and most of the people I've golfed with) that's really all we need out of our drivers. Sure, it's so light that you can barely feel it, you can't work the ball, and it's ugly. But it's also nearly impossible to hit this and have a bad setup for your 2d shot. It'll be in my bag for a while.

Great driver. The only thing I had to change is where I aim in the fairway; I no longer aim to the left.......I can just aim straight down the middle! Very forgiving.

Head at set up looks like a swollen driver that's allergic to a golf ball. Can't really work the club and club's overall performance is just average. Might work for someone who shoots in the 100's. Switched back to Callaway BB 460 and I LOVE IT.
