I went into Golf Galaxy looking to try out the 400cc model of this driver based on reviews posted here. I was lucky enough to find a demo of the new 460cc model (before it was even on the market!) instead. This thing is an absolute monster. I have the 10.5 degree head with an Aldila NV 65 stiff shaft. The face is square, which was essential because I naturally move the ball from right to left. The club sets up clean; it doesn't look as big as it is. It's meaner than Ping's G2 and G5, and in another class completely from the Taylor Made R580. I still have my share of mis-hits, but they are longer and much closer to the fairway. Despite this extra forgiveness, the club still lets you know each and everytime you miss the ball. This club is probably going to fly under a lot of people's radar, but if you're in the market for a driver, make sure you at least hit this one, because it's really tip top.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MP-001 460cc 10.5* reg

There's not point repeating what everyone else is saying about this club - they're all right and should be damn happy as MP-001 owners. Two quick points though: 1) Personally I found the stock (Exsar 60) shaft quite difficult to launch on a higher trajectory - so for me, Prolaunch 55 was the replacement. 2) Perhaps related to the first, I can definitely confirm the face is square, but also steeper than advertised on the can. At 10.5* this MP-001 launches more like my pal's Wilson Deep Red II Distance 9.5* driver (stiff). In summary, try before you buy - if for nothing else, make sure the trajectory suits. For the rest - yeah it's all true.

Model Reviewed: MP001 460cc driver

I have been playing the Ping G2 for the last year. Drives were satisfying and it is most certainly one of the friendliest drivers out there. However, as with many club junkies, boredom, and a lack of wow factor set in. I go back and forth (depending upon whether I want chocolate or vanilla) between MP30's and Callaway X-14 pro series irons with Rifle shafts and I truly love Mizuno irons. What I love about them is their buttery feel. This driver does not lack in the feel dept. One word; Lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng! In fact, fitted with the Pro Launch 65 this club is 15-20 yards longer than my G2. I was able to hit a power draw around a dog leg left and almost green in on a short par 4. The next hole, a dogleg right, had me going for the fade and the MP001 delivered easy workability and eye-watering distance. The sound off the face does not sound like a pinnnnnnnnnnng, or a crackkkkkkkk!. It's more like a subdued twwwoock. It has a deeper tone that is far from annoying. I am glad to say that my ears were not ringing from a round of play. Considering that I play 5 days a week in the height of the summer, the lack of unnecessary noise was a welcome change. On average, 15-20 yards longer than anything I tried. and most importantly. The face angle of this baby is SQUARE. Considering that my natural shot shape is a draw, the lack of a hook face or tons of weight in the heel is a welcome godsend. Mizuno may be known for irons but this "big dawg" is all bite and it's bark is subdued". In short, it means business! Also, this club seems to have an extra gear in it. The ball doesn't just fly off the face. It rockets off the face. As stated by other reviewers, go 1 degree weaker than usual.

Customer Service

Never had to call them. Dunno... Product construction is as solid as they come.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MP001 460cc

Like most 460cc drivers, the Mizuno MP001 is very stable & forgiving. Shots off the toe and heel did not lose much distance and drifted back towards center. Even the more extreme toe shots did not buckle the head or over-torque the shaft. This may have to do with the redistributed weighting saved from the carbon/graphite crown. Ball flight is a mid/high but relatively flat trajectory with no balooning. Distance is very good, second only to the Cleveland Launcher, with good carry but relatively little roll (I played the 10.5 degree). The controlled roll was actually something I preferred, since it produced more predictable drives. The feel of the club is smooth in the sweet spot, but will give you some feedback if you're off (in this aspect, it is better than the Launcher.) Very professional looking club, with one of the best (zippered) head covers I've seen. In comparison to the Launcher 460 comp: the Mizuno is slightly more of a players 460, where as the Launcher was longer and a "grip it and rip it" club. Lastly, you can usually find this club at a better value than the other heavily advertised drivers.

Model Reviewed: mizuno m001 460 driver

went to demo day and hit all of the top named drivers, to be fair they all do about the same, I bought the mizuno based upon the ball flight, and i seemed to hit it consitently . was playing a 983k, but the 001 is about 5 to 10 yards longer, the big difference is the forgiveness, as it is with all clubs its best to demo first, if your looking for a new driver givethis one a go

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MP-001 460cc - Aldila NV-65

Well, I thought I would add something to this site since I am always using it to review clubs. Anyway, I decided this year after must frustration with my current driver (Titleist 983K) that I would find a new one this year and get fiited properly for it. Boy, did I ever find a new great driver. With the Mizuno I carry the ball a full 20 yards longer than my old Titleist (from 239 to 259) according to the ball launch monitor. And, I still get adequate roll once the ball lands. The Mizuno is also very accurate and the construction of the driver allows you to know exactly when you hit it flush. The only thing I had to get used to was the more hollow sound I get off the face of this driver. Not quite the solid sound I got with my Titleist. But, who cares? Once again Mizuno has created a quality product and one that will be in my bag for many rounds to come.

Customer Service

E-mailed the company regarding some questions I had, got an answer the next day, couldn't ask for more.

Just bought this driver since I wanted a very forgiving club and read all the good reviews. Well, I ordered the one with the NV-65 shaft in S flex and I couldn't hit the thing consistently, or very well, most shots going straight, but right. It takes a very smooth tempo and I think the shaft plays softer then most S flex shafts. With that said, I replaced it with a vista tour fujikura stiff and now am back to swinging hard and hitting fairways or in the first cut. Like I read in a previous review, get the right shaft and this club head works as advertised, just step up and swing. It's hard to miss with the huge head and it really goes straight. Anyways, I give this driver a big thumbs up.

Customer Service

Haven't tried it yet.

I got this club about a week ago, and i was amazed. I had demoed a 370 and liked it, so decided to buy it. Just before getting one, i change my mind to get a 460cc. The 460 is a lot better than the 370 or 400. It goes far and low. For those golfers who hit it too high and need a club the doesn't lose distance in the air. Get the mizuno. It looks great, feels comfortable, and is more consistent. I reccomend putting an NV shaft on it too.
