V Foil 410cc 11* Stiff
I have been searching for a driver that offers consistency. Before purchasing the V Foil, I had been using a Cobra 427 driver. While it offered forgiveness on off-center hits, it tended to draw or hook the ball too much due to the 2.5* closed face. It was also a little too light for my taste. Then one day I was perusing Ebay when I came upon an auction for the V Foil. The price was so low that I thought I should give it a try. I'm glad I did. The club feels very solid when you hit the ball. Suprisingly, the 11* loft has not caused me to hit sky high shots. Rather, I have been hitting much straighter and longer shots than I did with my Cobra. Great club. 350cc Optimal Launch Stiff
I intended on purchasing a Titleist 983K after hearing great things about it, but wanted try out several other clubs before purchasing (see others under Similar Products Used). I have been using the MacGregor 1025CM irons with outstanding success and was excited to try out a driver with the V-Foil technology. I was not disappointed. The 350cc delivers outstanding results whether struck dead-on or off center. Accuracy with off center hits is surprisingly good as well. However, I found that the Tayor Made R580 was better suited to my swing. This club was a very close second, but simply lacked the all-around consistency of the R580. Had the price of the Tayor Made been any higher, I would probably be playing the MacGregor. Customer Service I have no experience with MacGregor's customer service. However, the patience and helpfulness of the staff at Pro Golf in Louisville, KY was first rate. im 16 years old and i shoot in the high 70's-low 80's.so i guess you would figure i have a fast swing.that all changed when i got this driver. i slowed down my swing 20% due to the lightness and i was still hitting the ball 300-310 yards (with stock shaft)i recently changed the shaft to my harrison striper jim mclean shaft from my old taylor made and im crushing the ball. i mean 9 out of 10 drives are 325+ yards.i just played with the club pro at my course and outdrove him every time.if i can only improve my irons as good as my drives ill be pro very soon |

Macgregor 350 CC V-foil Driver
I started having trouble off the tee with my driver a couple of months ago and started using a utility wood and 2 iron off the tee to stay in the fairways. I was loosing some serious yardage to my buddies and I tried to practice and or play my way out of this slump. I went to the range every other day and even saw a club pro to get some help with my driver but could never get it going again, fact is, I have always been a bit inconsistent with it but it got worse over time and I had no confidence at all with my old driver and I soon found myself missing the widest of fairways. I got my new Macgregor 350 cc V-foil a day before my usual Saturday round and went to the range that Friday after work to see if I could hit it. I was still a bit apprehensive about even taking a driver with me that weekend because of my recent troubles with drivers. When I started hitting balls, the first thing I noticed that the club felt connected through out my swing, My other driver sometimes felt like I was swinging a shaft with no club head on it. I sprayed about 3 or 4 balls over the range before I got the correct ball position down and the ball started jumping off the clubface, straight and long. Ball contact with this driver is very solid and sweet. You can really feel the ball at impact and it is very forgiving on off center hits also. I took the driver with me that Saturday and felt very comfortable with it from the start of my round and looked forward to the long holes to use it on. I had a couple of bad drives with it but I knew what I did wrong the minute I hit the shot. When I setup correctly and made good swings, I absolutely crushed the ball with this driver. Straight shots with this driver are very deceptive, they don’t look like they are going that far, but when you get up the fairway to your drive, you will be amazed. On the other hand, you can work this driver fairly well to hit nice little draws and fades. For a long time I would go to the tee with no confidence with my driver and finally put it away, I do have new found confidence with this new driver and look forward to putting some pressure on the boys in the future. I had several drives between 290 & 300 yards with my new driver this weekend and I can only imagine how my game is going to change once I truly get used to this driver. MacGregor V-Foil 8.5
I've tried most of the new equipment available, and while there is a lot of really good equipment out there, the MacGregor V-Foil is a notch or two above everything else I've tried (see list below). I custom ordered mine with a YS-6 S-flex shaft (also ordered the matching 13* fairway wood). The feel is superb, trajectory is perfect, distance is equal or better than 983E, sound is very pleasant, and it's very forgiving (toe mis-hits lose very little). The most notable thing about this club though is that I find myself hitting it dead solid perfect a lot more frequently than any other club - I attribute it to the balance of the head - it just seems like you can really feel exactly where the head is at impact. I bought a 983E, played it for one weekend and sold it - it was long, felt great when you hit it perfect, but misses were much worse than most other drivers. I have to say this is the best driver I've ever had in all respects. It's a keeper!! Customer Service Due to lack of availability of the YS-6 shaft, it took 42 days for my clubs to arrive - not stellar... MacGregor VIP 340cc driver
I went to an expo and tried every driver. The MacGregor was a standout for me, but I am too cheap to shell out $350. I found new (2002's) on Ebay and lost the first bid at $72. I won the second bid at $55 for the regular shaft. This is the longest, most forgiving driver I have ever hit. It won't correct a bad swing, but it will reward a good swing amply. I thought the regular shaft seemed a bit whippy, so I went back on Ebay and won another bid at $52 for a new stiff shaft. I found I like the regular shaft better even though I am considered a long hitter by the guys I play with (250 to 290 yards). Customer Service I e-mailed Macgregor support to ask them about replacement shafts three weeks ago and never got a reply. MacGregor V-Foil 410cc (r-flex)
The 410cc High Launch model is designed for a higher handicapper, which is fine by me. The 410cc gives the ball excellent carry and distance. And it's pretty forgiving -- mainly a slight fade or draw on mis-hits. The stock Graphite Design shaft in the V-Foil driver is really light, which takes some getting used to. Once you moderate your swing, however, and let the club do the work, it definitely gets the job done. Customer Service MacGregor does an excellent job of responding to questions by phone or e-mail. WOW!!! I don't like "unpopular" "non-mainstream" equipment. i always thought Wal-Mart used to sell MacGregor.Anyway tried this one because i'm a club junkie and because of the 30 trial offer they have until June, figured i'd use it for a month and get rid of it like all the others. Wrong!! I hook the ball badly sometimes this club will not hook!! it will slice, but after 2 years of hooking i'll take it. LONG,EASY TO HIT,VERY FORGIVING, GREAT SOUND, DID I SAY LONG!!! 2003 V-Foil 410cc 9 degree Stiff
Just got back from a huge demo day. This was by far the longest driver out there. I literally hit every manufacturer out there, and this was consistently at least 5-20 yards longer then everything currently on the market. Very forgiving as well. I'll have this in my bag by next weekend. Give it a try! Customer Service NA Similar Products Used: Ping TISI & Cleveland Launcher 330 (currently own), and I've tried everything else out there. |

i bought a 2002 10* vip with reg. graph. shaft. club is 340cc. new ones are 350 and 410. this is the best driver i ever hit. it really has helped me hit it longer. it also goes pretty straight. the stiff shaft in this club may be too stiff for someone using firm shafts. Customer Service they seem to really want your business and seem to be making some real quality equipment. Similar Products Used: calloway, taylor made orlimar and lynx. |
